On April 4, 2014, some of the best-loved musicians in the world assembled at the Royal Albert Hall to pay tribute to one of the most-missed musicians of them all: Jon Lord. “Celebrating Jon Lord” will be released as 1CD - The Composer, 2CD - The Rock Legend, 2DVD, Blu-ray, Box Set and Download on September 26th, 2014 on earMUSIC.
All product configurations feature individual cover artworks.
The Box Set features - besides the Blu-ray, 1CD The Composer and 2CD The Rock Legend - an exclusive T-shirt, a two-sided reproduction of an excerpt of Jon Lord’s original, handwritten music score for “Sarabande” - signed by Paul Mann as well as a 20 page reproduction of the evening’s original show program.
On top and as a real collector’s item, the box set also includes two very special 7-inch vinyls: the first featuring the hypnotic live version of Deep Purple’s classic “You Keep On Moving” with Glenn Hughes, Bruce Dickinson, Ian Paice, Don Airey and Micky Moody and on the B-side “Soldier Of Fortune”, both taken from the 2CD - The Rock Legend.
The second 7-inch vinyl stands in the tradition of Deep Purple as it includes the band’s touching live version of “Above And Beyond” originally from the no 1 album “NOW What?!” and here included in the magic Sunflower Jam 2014 live performance - a song dedicated to and inspired by Jon Lord. The B-side is dedicated to Lord‘s “Fantasia”.
Divided in two parts - the first focused on the classical music compositions, so dear to Jon Lord, and the second featuring a crescendo of emotions going through some of his highlights as a rock musician - the concert gave fans a chance to relive Jon Lord's remarkable and extensive musical career, remembering music from Paice, Ashton Lord, Deep Purple, his later classical compositions and everything in between - all in aid for the charity organization The Sunflower Jam.
The 83-piece Orion Orchestra performed, conducted by Paul Mann and accompanied by bands and artists such as Deep Purple, Paul Weller, Glenn Hughes, Bruce Dickinson, Rick Wakeman, Rick Wakeman, Miller Anderson, Steve Balsamo and many, many more.

Ian Paice still a magician on the drums " Ian Paice on the drums Yes "
Hughes’ bass playing is still timeless, as is his voice...incredible talent...
This is such an amazing and underrated song. Lucky the ones who attended to this event!
Awesome version.
Glen and Bruce, hands down.
Nice to see Mickey Moody as well.
No one of the 70:s heroes have got the voice still remaining like Glenn. I am i Life long fan of Ian but Glennn kept his glory in a great way.
Glenns voice has aged better than any other former and/or current Deep Purple vocalist, Gillan, Coverdale, Turner, and presumably Rod Evans (Evans turned his back on music after being duped into fronting a new, official Deep Purple with musicians and management totally unrelated to Deep Purple, and without permission from or royalties to the genuine Deep Purple founding members Lord, Paice, and Blackmore. It DID happen during the late 70s DP dormancy, but man, he should have been suspicious, did some research.)
Def not true, there is many more. Robert Plant still a beast.
very lucky all people in audience
Glenn Hughes absolutely perfect
Amazing...amazing...just amazing...
The best moment of the whole concert....
My neck skin crawls!!! I still moving...
Memberberries Remember? In burn was the guitar really that quiet or did they just not record it properly
@@stefaniebuckley5342 maybe quiet... they all know who owns that song and what the guitar did to the song. but He preffered to stay away from the rock scene for more than 20 years...
It moves me to the tears, really. And i have to say, Jon´s legacy is in more than capable hands with mister Airey, such a great keyboardist.
Glenn hughes, the voice of rock ever
Jon Lord .........💙Genius
Old musician still exist...
I love how Bruce sings the line as 'perm' without missing a beat.

Glenn is like a god. Is amazing.
Magnificent...fine tribute to a legend from legends that remain...(chilling, emotional & so, so sincere...)
One of my favorite songs of DP - and there are many of them. Unfortunately was this masterpiece after Tommy's dead never live performed by reunited MK II. This song, this sound is an phantastic rock-evergreen and will never die. Great musicians - but David Coverdale is sorely missed. Bruce Dickinson ....?
Tremendo dos grandes vocalistas
damm! what a voice man! Glenn rules!

Glenn Hughs and Bruce Dickinson! Pretty sure Jon could here that.❤️
Qué bestia Glenn, por Dios !!
AMAZING!
Fantastico
As a DP fan i have always regretted that Glen was kicked out in 1976 because of Ian Gillan wanted so He rules this song i think
Kudos to Bruce for standing next to Glenn. But Mr. Hughes blew him off the stage, all the while holding down the groove with his bass... LEGEND.
Ian Paice Ian Paice Ian Paice!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Un genio
4:20 - 4:40 That bassline and riff, fucking awesome!
LeproGuy Hughes is and always was very underrated bassist, everybody talks about his singing, but jeez, he is amazing bassist!

Que voz tan brutal Glenn Hughes
Ian Paice⭐😍
I guess Glenn is in my top 3 rock singers of all fuckin time...
I have been to his performance in russian Khabarovsk city knowing only about some relation with DP, but didn't know that he is the very worthy alternative line up to the gold one.
Que versión! Dickinson épico!
you need young David Coverdale to sing this song
Min 2:29 impresionante Glenn 🙌🙌
Where Angels fear to tread... Glllllllllennnnnn..... Hughes....
Bloody Great sing from their album with Tommy bolin : "Come taste the band"!!!
Look kudos to Bruce, he and his bandmates have been very successful and I am pleased that they are. My issue with Bruce is that he seems to only have one tonal voice -a scream -and little in the way of subtlety; no light and shade - a preference, not a criticism. Now, Mr. Hughes can sing anything from a whisper, to a scream to knock your fillings out. I think this song demonstrates that. The sweetness of the verses, to the balls out rocking of the chorus, that Glenn delivers. In short Mr. Hughes is awesome. I certainly wouldn't want to stand on a stage with Glenn as another singer. 'Abandon all hope ye who enter' 😉
Rob Bad Couldn't disagree more. I'm not a maiden fan, but Bruce sings this far more faithfully to the original than Glenn does.
Hello Deep Zepp, if you prefer Bruce's singing, then that is a fair choice to make. However, i'm not quite sure how you can suggest it is more faithful to the original. David Coverdale and Glenn sang it together and Glenn is just turbocharging his original parts, as, amazingly, he does live, and DC infused his parts with his beautiful blues voice, something (a blues voice) Bruce certainly doesn't posess. It's not even Glenn's strongest suit. So, I couldn't agree Bruce was more faithful to the original ... He can't out-glenn, Glenn and he is a completely different singer to DC. Thanks for your comment though, different opinions makes the world more interesting! 😁
Rob Bad Hi. I agree that Dickinson doesn't have a "bluesy" voice like DC. Bruce is a metal singer, so naturally doesn't possess the soulful nature of DC voices. What I mean is - Bruce is phrasing the song in the same way the original was sung. For instance Glenn sings at 02:13, and is actually singing underneath the music, he's not on top of it. However, when Dickinson sings that part in the later part of the song, he sings on top, granted it's slightly out of his range, but he does it nonetheless. Glenn's mid-range has never been great anyway. But nevertheless like, I'm sure we both agree, for his age, Glenn is incredible
Deep Zepp ok, fair point mate, re phrasing. I'm guessing Bruce had to learn it from the original and thus stuck to it more faithfully, as you'd expect and you suggest. Glenn, like anyone who sings his own song thousands of times has morphed it stylistically into something else ... More Glennified, you could say, and I think he was trying to cop DC's bluesier delivery on that line. Not sure, I agree that Mr. Hughes midrange is weak, but I do agree that we can agree he is pretty amazing. And Bruce is too, in his own genre. If you listen to Glenn's studio version of this song, where he harmonises with himself as Glenn and DC, that is worth a listen, too. Sounds like you are a singer too, Deep Zepp ... Anywhere we can hear? Cheers and thanks for the discussion.
Rob Bad Yeah, totally agree with your comment. And don't get me wrong, I think Glenn is an incredible vocalist, and is one of the few left from the golden-age of rock who can still belt it out. And it's true, that when you've played these songs for years, you tend to mix them up and try new things. Purple being a great example of that. They would change song arrangements in a live setting, before they even released the recorded albums. And often, the live versions were better than the studio albums.
Good spot. Yes, I do a bit of singing. Got a cover of a band named Rival Sons. Video name - C4th Jordan -. Just a thing I recorded live on an old Tascam with an acoustic. Not great, and I'm certainly no Glenn Hughes, but enjoy singing and playing nonetheless.
Thanks for the interest and the discussion.
Cheers.
Lacrime di gioia
Such a shame Don Airey murdered that amazing keyboard solo. Didn't expect that from him...
4:30🔥🙌
There are at least two people that are sadly missed here at this celebrating: Mr. RB & Mr. DC....Why ?
Bruce the best
🤩
Come on ... my frig.
where is Coverdale?
03:11 Who's the other keyboard player? 01:03 Who the guitar player on the far right?
Andy Wallace is on the other organ
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Why Ritchie Blackmore isn't there?
lord takumi because he is Ritchie Blackmore.
Where was David Coverdale?
DC never turned up for this event to this date no one but himself knows why
Ego...
Glenn hughes is the voice of rock
Is that Micky Moody from Whitesnake on guitar?
Yes
Love Bruce, but he is out here. Seems he did not come to rehearsals. Glenn swallowed him. The Voice!!!!
what are you talking about? he sings an octave higher and he sounds good
JF Metalkimya
The problem is that you don't know about music, Bruce's voice here is perfect!
Hughes >>>>bruce
Glenn does the high pitch stuff but they both start yelling at each other like that then you wouldn't have song, I would get irritated, you have to find to continue and fit in, Bruce could have done better but he was good, his voice won't go that high but you don't need it's not a competition. There are good singers with deeper voices too.
glenn hughes makes bruce looks like a beginner!
This belonged to Glenn Hughes, and Glenn Hughes alone.... big fan of Iron Maiden, but Dickinson fucked it up, delusional about his high resgister, while Glenn played all his cards well
Little Finger on keyboard
Why didn't they invite DC?
With the money Bruce has got its about time he done a Hughes and got his teeth done
Stupid comment. He does what he wants not what you tell him.
not everyone wants picture perfect teeth, it's part of the character
This is not a song for Bruce's voice. Absolutely not!
O dueto Hughes e Dickinson não funcionou nessa música. Parecia que um estava atrapalhando o outro.
Glenn Hughes should have kept his mouth shut and leave the singing to Bruce, Jon Lord loved this song and its fucked up by GH ...
Don Airey can't play the keyboards.Bruce….you're too much there. Its not your song man...
Out of Tune
