Nice comparison! The reason for the seams on the new Star Ace figure is because it's a pre-assembled and pre-painted vinyl model kit. The kit is available for a considerably smaller price. It would've been nice if they hid the seams after assembly of the figure. What kind of bothers me about the newer Star Ace figure is - down the right arm of the Cyclops, they sculpted in the seam that is noticeable on Harryhausen's original model in the film. I know it wasn't supposed to be noticed in the film, but I always did. But, I guess Star Ace was going for a bit too much accuracy and really over-did the seam. I also think the coloring is a off. I agree with you - the earlier X Plus statue is a slightly better rendition, and more dynamic, even though they're part of the same company.

Actually, in a way, they are Both X-Plus. Star Ace is a subsidiary of X-Plus. And X-Plus produced all of the Star Ace Harryhausen sculpts.

The Star Ace looks more accurate to me. The X Plus looks a little slender and the skin detail is nat as noticeable. Also the leg fur is more detailed.
They should have give him two forward horns, he was bulkier than the first Cyclops
