✏Download the Bush Pack here -- kdsketch.gumroad.com/l/evdn ✏️UPDATE PLEASE READ✏️ You may not have the brush icons (they may appear as grey squares) and some brushes may not react like they do in my video on RUclips! To fix this you need to either unzip the files to your desktop (this is the easiest solution!) or unzip the file to another location and go to the ‘Active Tool and Workspace Settings’ (screwdriver and wrench) and under the ‘brush’ tab in the icon preview, select the folder that shows the location of the icon, and link each brush to the correct PNG. The brushes should now work as shown in the video! I’ll update the brush pack once I fix the linking texture issue!
Thank you so much both for the brushes and tutorial! Could you please help with the following issue. I have a problem with icons for my own brushes(while a rectangle appears instead of the preview). And another problem is that I could not manage to add a texture for the brush only for the material. I've been struggling with that for some hours with no result. That seems to be an error. Thanks in advance for help!
You should be able to connect a brush preview in the active tool and workspace settings! You should be able to add textures in the material tab under stroke I think?
@@kdsketch Thank you for such a quick reply! I managed to solve all the cases. How to add texture to your brush tool. It is rather tricky, not intuitively. Brush tool is connected directly with the material and you have to pin the material inside the brush tool under the brush settings. Otherwise material would affect all the brushes you choose. As for the icons.I tried to make my preview based on your brush images but all my images became blank. I almost got my head broken ╭(ఠఠ益ఠఠ)╮ Finally I’ve found the way and it is very simple. You could not use the same pnga images you use for brushes to make icons. You have to make special images for icons with black backgrounds.
So glad to see you exploring Blender for 2D too, you'll have loads of fun! I'll be using these brushes for sure, although after downloading (and making sure to test in material preview mode) some of the brushes don't work as shown here - do I need to enable any specific settings? :)
Took me all day but I think I've found a workaround! I've updated both the file and instructions and will be making an updated video for it once I’ve done a few more tests BUT in short…once you've unzipped/moved the .blend and icons to where you want to keep them you just need to go into the ‘Active Tool and Workspace Settings’ (screwdriver and wrench) and under the ‘brush’ tab in the icon preview, select the folder that shows the location of the icon, and link each brush to the correct PNG. A little annoying for massive brush packs but doable for the 5 brushes in this one - I'll keep looking for a better solution in the meantime 😅 Thanks again for letting me know!!
I've noticed that every time I follow your guide and append the brushes, they work for that particular session. If I quit and go back in to blender, I have to re-append them.
If you append the brushes at the start of a session and then making sure your settings are all good and canvas is blank go to FILE - DEFAULTS - save startup file. They should then appear on every start up :)
these brushes are amazing for sketching! but when I use the ink pen, or any other brush that's not from your brush pack, it creates an airbrush like texture and when I let go of the mouse button, the stroke appears as dots. Is there a fix to this problem?
I'm having some trouble using these brushes in an existing project. when I use the brushes in a new file, they work fine. but when i added them to my project and tried to use them (for example charcoal) the randomization is working, but it's generating the strokes and points as solid regular strokes, and does not show the "grain/texture" of the brush.
thank you for making these! i love them I have an odd thing with Chunky where it has a scattered/ spray effect, and doesnt look smooth like yours, would you happen to know why?
Thank you! Glad you like them! I'm checking the file and reinstalling now to check if it's a file or blender issue. What version are you running? Did you move the files after importing? Are the icons showing when you go to the brush selection/menu in the top left? :)
Thank you for this. Could you please make a tutorial on how to set up a ".blend" append file with embedded previews and .png files of our own, please? Thanks again
After adding the brushes did you save the workspace? I go over importing and saving brushes to the default workspace in my new blender beginner guide on my channel - the latest video on my channel :) hope this helps!
OMG absolutely Brilliant so happy you made these I am a paper artist trying to crossover to digital art these are perfect for shading in my drawings thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou A MAZE ZING
Brushes should be in the top left hand corner of the screen while using the pen/brush tool! I go over how to import them in the later part of this video :)
This may be an issue on my end, but, all my brush strokes have a thick white outline around them. I looked in materials properties and brush settings and I can't figure out how to get only the brush stroke without its outline.
@@kdsketch I thought it was, but it was at 100%. I fixed it though, my image reference below was in full color which is why it showed up that way, but it was actually doing it with every brush not just yours. So no more worries. Thank you though for the quick reply :) Have a nice day!
Broke them how? Would appreciate some more details so I can see if this is fixable on my end! What version of blender are you using? Where did you put the folder/brushes before install? What happened to the other brushes?
When the world needed her most, she returned with brushes ✨✨

when you switch to another brush, make sure the material has changed from the KD brush to something like 'line' or 'solid fill' :) Hope this helps!
Ah so that was the problem. Thank you very much! now I know what to check every time I want to add a new brush 👍👍

hmm without seeing any screenshots it could be your old workspace is set to Solid shading mode?
