    One of the best if not THE BEST! review made by you so far. Congratulations Marek, it was a pure pleasure to watch it. Beautiful scenery, a ton of informations, a lot of details, top-notch video & audio quality, and smart cut scenes. I'm impressed.
    One thing though. No drone used here, why? The car is beautiful, what a shame :(

    I found the interior to look and feel brilliant. But upon closer inspection, had some weak points in regards to build quality. Not sure if it will hold up over long term ownership. The Porsche and Lexus I was in afterwards felt better built. The new Q7 will likely be the best in the segment. Too bad they are not available in the US yet.

    thanks a lot for excellent review (in English). Did you try XC90 driving uphill? Does power seem adequate? I like XC90 design, but little scared of tiny engine. I am waiting to try Q7 before I buy one of these.

    I just ordered the car (can't wait till it is delivered :) I made few test drives and apart from many great things I found by direct comparison that 1) air suspension is in general more noisy and rumbling than the regular one - I don't want it 2) Premium Sound System Bowers Wilkins is a bit over rated - big talk about it, but in reality it has too much bass, the sound is not that much better than the standard high performance sound and the things like "some concert hall" are just funny - spoiling the sound by adding some artificial reverb. For me not worth it. The only good thing is that extra speaker at the front glass :)

    Excellent choice for a review, I really love that car. However, you forgot to mention what was the average fuel consumption? You did not find a way to read it?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 лет назад +1

      Milos Zikic There's no way to display it permanently in front of the driver. You can only have a permanent current fuel use readout. If you want full statistics you have to look at them on the tablet in the middle. The average during my first drive (not as long, as I would like it to be) was about 8-10 litres/100 km.

    • @miloszikic88
      @miloszikic88 9 лет назад

      Marek Drives That is a lot in comparison of what Volvo is promising. Then it makes much more sense to buy 3L diesel unit, because for the same running price, you will get much more performance. Unfortunately, Volvo has only 2L units :( How does that engine copes with huge mass of the car? Was it better then X5 20d?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 лет назад

      Milos Zikic I'd have to drive them back-to-back, to give you a definite answer, but I feel Volvo is a bit rougher in low revs. And BMW starts pulling a bit earlier. In X5 torque comes at 1500 rpm, and in the XC90 at 1750.

  • @AndrejGobec

    So there will be a full review later?
    The car seems MASSIVE, but I really like the design and functionality.

      Andrej Gobec I hope I'll get my hands on the hybrid, but no earlier, than late this year. These cars are selling like hot cakes, so the Polish press office barely managed to get a couple of cars for the launch event.

    Very good review. I'm very interested in volvo. Volvo is mostly about comfort and i think that you have a lot comfort in this new xc90. I think that the interior is way more luxurious than the clinical looking interiors in German SUV:s.
    And yes, I drive a BMW at the moment.

  • @someguy007

    Very nice but why did they mess up the rear design. The tail lights could have been a nice long straight line, consistent with the rest of the body. Also, the interior looks a bit uninspired. The tablet seems nice but kinda looks like those tablets that wont go down your throat: its just there!!! It Could have been integrated more smoothly into the car's dashboard without making it look like a blatant ipad glued onto a dashboard. But overall it seems like a nice car from the vid. Thanks for posting

      Me Van der I Thanks for that. It is definitely worth a look, and I bet it will sell well in the Netherlands (that's where you're from, right?). I'll try and get my hands on a hybrid by the end of this year. That should be interesting.

    Beautiful Review Marek, thanks a lot :)
    My Choice would be the new Q7...
    Its also lighter than his successor, feautures a nicer interior and yes, there are just more engines to choose...
    In my opinion a 3l Diesel is more competitive and much smoother as this new generation of Drive-E powerplants

    Hello Marek,
    You always talk about the fuel consumption In this particular case you did not mention with so much detail nearly anything about the engine performance and real fuel consumption VS announced figures.
    Can you please clarify these questions?
    Best regards from Portugal!

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 лет назад +3

      Renato Anjo This was just the first drive - I spent half a day with the car, so I did not put enough kilometers on the car to get a relevant figure. Depending on traffic it was between 8 and 10 L/100 km, Volvo claims 5/6/8 for this engine variant.

  • @HareBrahs

    Is the D5 engine to small for that type of car?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 лет назад +1

      +Hare Brahs Generally I am sceptical about Volvo's decision to go with 4-cylinder engines. With this type of car one often likes to have a bit more power. My friend just bought one, and the only complain she has is that it is sluggish compared to her BMW X3.

    taking some extra episode from its own company advertisements is a good idea, its making your reviews more interesting

    noisiest car I have ever owned, I hate driving it due to the atrocious road noise, I am talking VERY LOUD TYRE AND SUSPENSION NOISE, D5 POWER PULSE INSCRIPTION 20" WHEELS CONTINENTAL TYRES, wish I had not parted with my old XC90, that was a much quieter car.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 лет назад

      John Neves I also drove T8 R-Design on 22", and it was the same. The air suspension doesn't cope well with potholes.

    • @hedydd2
      @hedydd2 7 лет назад

      It seems to be a known issue, especially when fitted with more than 50% worn Continental tyres.
      However, the same tyre noise issue was experienced by me with my long term Q7 and the Range Rover from 2004 which I owned before the Q7. The Q7 also wore a set of quality tyres out every 10,000 miles, although cheap hard Korean tyres of several brands lasted twice as long, at the expense of skittish roadholding and almost unbearable noise for the last 10,000 miles.
      There are now quiet tyres being introduced to counter large car noise. I think Pirelli have them available in certain sizes and it is surely only a matter of time before more are available to suit most big cars.
      The noise is especially bad on UK concrete and high durability and free draining asphalt. Fine grain asphalt, not so bad, although some fine surfaces produce a higher pitched wail.
      None of this has put me off any of these cars and I collect my new XC90 Inscription on March 1st 2017 on conventional springs, not air [which my Q7 and RR did have]

      Ive always used Michelin Latitude Diamaris 255/50-19, and they have been exceptional tyres.
      These cars are very heavy though, so don´t expect them to last much...
