  • The wood that I use for woodturning has all been given to me so far. I want to thank those who gave me this wood or arranged this for me with a piece of my own woodturning.
The first gift. I made this walnut bowl for Siena. Because of her I got a few nice pieces of white oak (which I made the vase from). I also received a few large pieces of ash. Siena, thank you for the wood you brought me and I hope you will enjoy this walnut bowl.

(Leo Gijssel has given me beautiful and special pieces of wood. But Leo is a woodturner himself, so I don't have to make anything for him. I'll try to collect some nice pieces of wood for Leo.)

Thanks Gary. I also enjoy filming. Although it is also nice to make something without filming.

Very nice Frank, that started out as a very big lump of wood but became something special. Love it :)

Thanks. I myself am often surprised by the beautiful wood that comes from under the rough bark. 😊

This blank looks very familiar Frank! Good that you managed to make something out of it and the result looks great.
Siena will be pleased and if not, you can blame the wood. 😎
    Awesome editing job!

Everyone loves this bowl and loves the wood. And so do I 😍.
Luckily I have a few more pieces. It is also wonderful wood to turn.
(Even Peter's chickens love the shavings 😉)
      Thanks for watching Leo!

Mooie schaal weer.

Thanks Huw. This is also a good way to check myself for technique. I often see the mistakes I make while editing the video. So it is also very educational. Nice that you watched my video.
      take care. Frank.

Beautiful bowl Frank, such smooth curves and the grain flows so beautifully throughout the bowl. How many coats did you do? I have never seen a water-based varnish that is so white, (silly question time), do you shake or stir the varnish? I have always been taught to stir as you do not want micro-bubbles ruining the finish.
    Keep on turning.
    Cheers, Bluey 👍

Shake or stir? Wasn't that a James Bond slogan 🤔
I don't shake. (because I had ones a little accident with a open can😒). There are 4 coats in total. But after the first coat I did a lite scrape turn to get rid of the minor blow outs inside the bowl. The PU is not white. It's a clear/transparent matt lacquer. This wood is really beautiful and has a nice colour. I am very grateful to Leo for this wood. Thanks for watching!
