- Some tips and mods to make your life with the Gopro Hero and Hero2 accessories easier. Preventing lost nuts, marking items, creating magnetic and clamp mounts, adding an external battery pack and lots more.
I've lost quite a few of the accessories while filming my bike rides! this guy is a genious!
EXCELLENT Tips - just got me a GoPro Hero 2 and I want to keep it safe, dry and all the parts to stay in place. Thanks!
Nice video. The homemade mounts are cool. I like the clamp mount. I've never had a problem with the nuts falling out of mine, they are fairly secure, and I use them in high speed and vibration uses.
i love the external battery pack idea, thanks
Some great tips and ideas here, thanks for posting!
I would like to recommend Thread Lock which is used in RC hobbies all the time.
Available in every hobby shops.
rtv sealant from an auto part store works really well and allows you to remove the nut or screw if you dont over do it. silicone caulk works also.
Good ideas, thanks, abrupt ending left me wondering.
All excellent tips. Thanks for taking the time.
I love how he just starts the tips right awway
i like the idea of super gluing the screws! i will definitely do that, i wont epoxy it though, cos if the screw does start to free spin or something i would like to be able to remove it. cheers for the idea!
When you say 20 cents I am guessing you are referring to the nut? If you have ever tried to replace one at the hardware store you will probably not find one. GoPro nuts fit just right into their mounts and general nuts do not hold in the screw secure enough so glue does wonders.
Great Video, haters gonna hate.
fair play , made a floaty myself from eva foam (swimming pool float) and attached it using the new 3M heavy duty velcro

Thanks for the ideas, ill be working on some of these this weekend.
Excellent stuff.
Nice video, some really great, common sense ideas.
thanks man..... lots of good ideas
Great video! Thanks!
Instead of using epoxy you can use GOOP, my glue of choice for all kind of DIY.
I swapped all my gopro hardware with 10/32 cap screws. Much better hardware along with them allowing more clearance for better angles for recording!
Good tips... thanks!
Great video!
at 1:45 you popped the screw out intsead of the nut when you were pushing. that happened to me once. drove me crazy for ever untill i realized what happened.
thanks for the tips though.
You have to make it. Just look up, "Gopro clamp mount" on youtube and there should be plenty of videos on how to make one for under $10
Dude your VDO awesome !
Always super glue the acorns ... but I just use thin super glue and put a tiny drop along the edge. I use a LOT of GoPro's! Up to 14 at a time on car shoots
USB has 4 connections, Power, Ground, TXD, and RXD. If the GoPro detects the TXD/RXD signals it won't charge. If the USB connector only has the Power and Ground, the other two are not connected, then the GoPro thinks it's a charger and will route power to the battery. The device he has only has the two power connections.
That is a mount so you can connect the camera to the same screw that other cameras use on tripods or other devices. you can but that directly from the GoPro website or in BestBuy. I think the price was near $10 though... seems rather expensive to me for that little piece...
You still won't be able to tighten the joints enough by "fingerpower" to fight vibration shifting the setting you "secured it" into. For High vibration you need the Phillipshead-threads to be able to securely tighten the joints.
Thanks, good job.
Actually the battery will be extended by about 12 hours because the batter lasts for up to 4 hours and it sounds like you are saying the charger lasts 8 hours so it will extend it by 12 because it will be 8 hours plus 4 hours afterwards.
Very interesting ;-)
Thanks for the great tips :-)
Great video .. great tips
You're not on the same page...The issue isn't with the bolt coming loose of the glue not holding...it's more of a issue with TIGHTENING...leaving the screw head exposed will allow you to "super" tighten the bolt for things like downhill mountain biking, desert rally, etc, anything with a lot of vibrations that might cause the camera housing to shift
Really lovin ur Tutorial Rick, just got my new Gopro Hero 3+ Black and watch a ton of videos, especially the trick with the mobile usb charger is really awsome... i personally prefer to tape or paint the screws at the handle with a thin line but thats only my preference... just a short question about the magnet-mount, isn't there the risk that the magnet could interfere the electric of the gopro? What are your experiences with the magnet mount, do u use it often and had u any problems with it?
1:29 maybe this is why one bolt is shorter. The bolt has been pushed inside the handle.
Great video, just a thought we really did not need to see you glueing ALL your accessories.
have u done any mods for vehicles mounts cause i got the gopro suction cup mount and it flow off my car on the high way luckily it didnt kit anybody or other vehicles and since i was just testing it i didnt lose my camera good thing i thought of testing it with out the camera first.good video keep up the good work
great video
good video
If super glue works for you, fine, but super glue is not designed to flex at all, so a sharp rap to the glued piece in question can dislodge pieces.
I'm suggesting a different glue would be better, but carry on if you're happy with what you've got.
i understand the superglue to keep the nuts and bolt in, but epoxy in the screw-thread ruins your chances of fastening the mount tighter then you can by hand.
But if all you do is steady filming i guess you won't need to fasten it tighter, and then again won't that water out the reasons to use a GoPro instead of a DSLR?
Didn't really need to see a timelapse of you super gluing stuff, although its more entertaining half the stuff people use gopro cameras for.
I really liked the mount with the extra battery. But when I try to shoot something while the cam is attached to my computer it does nothing. If I tried a battery like yours would it be working or is it the new software on the camera which allows me not to use the cam while loading?
Nice vid. I just ordered my gopro. What is the name of the battery USB device u got on eBay ? Thanks.
Super gluing the little nut is something I’ve done myself.... but super gluing/epoxy the screw head is not ideal for high vibration because you need to use a screw driver to tighten the knobs so the camera doesn’t shift with every big jolt it takes. I do not recommend...
Why not use locktite? It's a permanent hold, but can be removed if need be.
2:00 just push the screw back into the haddle. its not shorter it just popped out of the handle
thats a tripod mount and you can get in on the gopro website for about $9
That is a lot to do....so we have to do all of these for GoPro Hero 3?
never had any problems with falling out nuts...
It's not possible to record and charge a gopro at the same time while connected to a computer. Only if you have a wallcharger you can do both things at once.
Careful with magnets and sd memories
the super glue will make the plastic weak over time.
did you paint your nails after taping this?
whata re or where can I get those extention mounts that change the way I guess of where the gopro is pointing???
Do you know where i can buy a bolt like that?! I bought a Go Pole but it didnt come with that bolt (the one in your left hand at 0:13).
Ive tried going on both websites but got no info.
why do i want to know u have a vintage pinboard?????
Wow @ricksinanju you really wanted to make a point by posting your reply 3 times, and no, it doesnt take an idiot to crossthread a bolt and no i havent had a problem with anything falling off my gopro. Nice video though, in focus, looks nice, informative, *thumbs up*.
the first 5 minutes of this video is full of bad advice. Dont glue your nuts and bolts. when your plastic pieces break you wont be able to get the nuts and bolts out. You also wont be able to tighten your screws correctly if you fill up the philips reliefs
Well, three years after I started doing this. Not a single broken piece and not one lost piece. It's obvious you never tried it. Even if a plastic piece did break, a pair of pliers will easily remove anything. Glue has fuck all to do with it. Idiot.
i think as well that it is rather negativ to glue your phillips, I often use a screw driver to give my bolts a quarter turn before unsing them in extreme situation.. and I´d really suggest doing that ;)
+ZBHampton if you wanted to glue or epoxy your phillips head bolts you should just use thread lock because it locks the bolts in the plastic housing and you can still remove the bolts using super glue or epoxy is just plain stupid
+elemental smurf Well, since I've never had one pop out since I started doing that, I'll disagree with you.
Of course you would
Not that, the other he holds in his right hand?!
Whats mount on 5:07? Where can I get it?
I have 2 nuts falling off barely touch :/
why do u need a go pro?
are you dan aykroyd??
is it possible to but external mic for the hd hero 1??
nope ... it isnt possible ... first cam where is possible is the hero 2
5:52 ... Thats the weirdest ballet I ever saw...
At the end of the day, GoPro hasn't glued the nuts in for a reason, has anyone thought of that? o_O
@ricksinanju That doesn't make any sense! The glue in the Philips head screw won’t keep it tight, but a screwdriver will.
don’t mislead other stupid people into messing up their mounts!
i wish i watched dis vid just b4 i lost d screws!!!
realmente acho que a go pro quis economizar uns dólares ai!!!!!!!!!!!
No glue!Please!
NOOOOOOOO GLUEEEEE!!!!
because it's cheaper for them
why dont u just put the epoxy right away rather than putting up glue then epoxy. waste of money when u can just do it straight to epoxy. whatta!

Son, get yourself a book and learn how to spell. When you've done that you can come back and write comments.
Incorrect use of the word 'your.'
There is no such word as 'REALY.'
Unless you are speaking a Spanish root language, there is no such word as 'favore.'
(More effort required. Three out of ten for spelling and punctuation.)
