I have already pre-ordered one to do a review on and I’m hoping that she is a little more brunette with gray through it. That still doesn’t address the issue of having a streak of gray somewhere in a brunette head. But I do know that they offer 3 other colors: midnight pearl, black onyx and Sandy silver where the front bangs area is significantly whiter or grayer than the hair in the back of the wig. I agree. Can you imagine if they actually made wigs with strands of gray in it here and there? That would be so realistic no matter what the base color. There is a market to fill. Money to be made. ( speaking of mass production.)
Wow! We are SO APPRECIATIVE of all the effort/time/work you put into making this video with PY gray choices! Those color boxes online or in the PY catalog are so tiny and trial-and-error is very expensive. I ordered one of the long gray toppers based on your you-tube review, but was extremely disappointed and sent it back. (Not ur fault) The topper I received was extremely glossy and looked like nylon fish wire! It was ugly, flat & lifeless---- NOTHING like yours!. It did not look shapely like the catalog photo, and because of the small mono crown, I really couldn't tease any shape into it! This was a very nice & educational video for those who want to try Paula Young wigs.

And then if there’s something wrong with the mfr of the wig (which I find happens with PY products) the only recourse is to return them. So although I am disappointed for your experience, it’s no surprise to me to hear of the problems you had. 😢 The good news is that it isn’t always like that and that’s what we hope for! Thank you for the gray color review. I’m trying to decide between 44 Salt/Pepper and 56#1B Soft Pewter. My bio hair is Salt/Pepper and I have cool skin tone. It seems like most wig manufacturers have more blonde/brown colors to offer wig buyers especially in the beautiful rooted colors. But, not everyone looks good in blonde or golden colors and skin tone plays a major part in your color selection.
That’s so very true! Knowing the warmth or coolness of a wig can make a big difference. I will tell you that the salt and pepper has a slightly warm tint to it because of the combination of brown with the black. But just a slight change in lip color and blush color can help bridge that small gap. 56#1B is significantly cooler. It has silver plus a black root so it’s much cooler than 44. Honestly, if it were me I would order both of them and then compare side-by-side. Are you planning to purchase one wig between those two colors?
@@cocoshairsolutions I have a petite head and face and shorter styles look best on me. My nape and sideburns grow longer in those areas, so I try to find styles that cover them up. I can shave my nape and it looks fine but I like to keep my sideburns long to blend in with the wigs. 44 is my bio color and I’m trying to order wigs that come in that color. Right now I’m trying to decide between Daisy #A2131, Sensational #A5016 or Covergirl #A2182. I thought about Evie #A3197 which has a lace front and I’ve never owned a lace front wig. Evie only comes in average and I would have to take it up but I think the sides would be long enough to cover my sideburns and nape. Decisions, decisions 🤔
@@amitchell9820 if I remember correctly Both Daisy and Cover Girl have longer sides for a shorter style so that might work very well for your sideburn situation! I just received Daisy for my next video series but haven’t unboxed her. If you’ve watched any of my previous pixie videos you’ll know that I have to have longer sides on my pixies to cover my hairline. I have a larger measurement from ear to ear going across the back of my skull so length on the sides is really important to me, too.you’ll have to let me know what you find out!! I came across you by accident. I love this video showing all the grays. It's so hard to tell in the catalog. I have ordered wigs in silvery moon and have been disappointed, not much silver. I'm going to try pretty pewter. Thanks for the great video!

I just found your channel and it’s very informative. I’ve worn a few variations of Paula Young’s wigs and recently ordered the first color you show here. What I received looked nothing like this at all. It didn’t even have 5 percent gray yet it was marked as this color. I had to pay the postage to return it 😡😡 which is why I never buy a wig unless I at least get free shipping to me. I should have contacted the company to complain but I’ve had to do that before due to poor construction of a wig. Anyway, thank you for doing us understand the grays!
Oh Judy, I am so sorry you had this experience. Those of us who are very familiar with PY are experiencing more and more events like this one, and it is really frustrating. Many of my viewers/subscribers love the PY line, but with these kind of quality control problems, it is getting difficult to endorse their product. I think our only recourse IS to complain. Your video is exactly what I was searching for. Thank you for putting so much time into making it. I wonder if wig makers realize that those of us who are natural golden blondes also end up going gray? All of the wigs I've looked at have black and brown mixed with gray. I've yet to find one that has gray mixed with golden blonde.
It sounds like you might be a good candidate for PY's Sugar and Spice 17/101 or Godiva's Secret Wigs Frosted Taupe. These are gray colors that are blended with blond shades and my clients who are graying blonds always find them a good match! Thanks so much for watching! Hugs! ~ Coco 😊

Fantastic! I have your cool skintone but my hair is more like #56, mostly silvery gray but with lighter brown spread throughout. Now I need to know about your glasses. I was looking at some similar ones online!
These glasses (I have them on today!!!) are from America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses. I purchased them and had Costco put my Rx in them. They are wonderful! HiCoco! I enjoy watching and learning from you bc you present with enthusiasm, honesty and clarity. Don’t own any PY wigs but from your shows most look like real hair. I only wear gray/ silver and gray with light brown. This was very helpful. I think the color 44 and pewter would suit me.

But if you want a little more light color around your face and are used to wearing silver, don’t rule out SF51/60 Silvery Moon. It still has a bit of darkness in the back by the nape. I would have to say that many of the PY styles are very cute and realistic looking, but the quality of the fibers are better in the GSW/Noriko brands and they in turn will last longer-in fact, I even say so in one of my videos!! GREAT Video! Thanks so much. I'm in deep water trying to get the right grey! As a faded redhead and truly surprised at my newly discovered Covid color. I'm happy to have some pretty very white streaks around the face & even at the neck/nape. I enjoy your in depth reviews as I'm sure many others also appreciate. I hope to find the same enthusiasm and through reviews of the other brands as well, Especially Raquel Welch, Gabor and a few other better brands. I'm extremely sparse at the front & along my part line & crown, so a lace front & a skin (mono)top are badly needed. I think I'm only one of a few that does not want rooted wig/toppers. After using color touch up for so long, I'm happy to have just one color again. You are doing a great job,Thanks again!
Thank you so much for your wonderful words of encouragement!!! Trying to find the right grey can be challenging, but try not to get stuck thinking it has to match perfectly. Your skin color may look good with one color over another, and that's the one you should choose. Usually, the colors are thought of as "cool" or "warm." So that will be the first step. Then you'll need to find the right combination of white & black/brown to match what you're bio hair usually looks like. 50/50 would be #44 Salt & Pepper. More white goes into the other lighter gray colors. But some are warmer than others. So the best way I can recommend to determine this is to purchase a wig in all the colors that are closest to what you're wanting to match. After you see them side-by-side and on you, you'll be able to make the best determination. Also, remember that each wig company has their own particular blends as well, so you would be best to do the same with them as well. The thing about toppers with no bangs is that you either have to have it be a lace front or if not a lace front, you have to have your own solid hairline. The reason for this is because the polyurethane front or standard topper front will have to be placed 1" or so behind your natural hairline. If you don't do this, you will see the obvious edge of the top piece. By the time I see clients in my shop who are asking for toppers, there are not very many people that have hairlines that can support this kind of placement. 😊 Thanks so much for watching and sharing!!! Ik it’s a year after the video but I’m learning about grays. I just recently got Shelby in #38, and even though PY doesn’t always have a name attached to it, I’d call it dark grey. It actually is very close and I mean close to ROP And Noriko Sandy Silver. I also have Haley Envy In dark grey and it’s very close, a bit lighter. Your camera and lighting makes it look lighter, almost taupe like but if anyone is familiar with those colors can give you an idea. I love that color, my favorite color so far. They’re all pretty but that color looks best for my red/dark blonde genes

But you need to be mindful that PY also offers a rooted Angel's Wing and that's not the one you want. See if you can do a search on PY's website for Angel's Wing and it'll give you all the styles that this color is offered in! Whereabouts are you in Idaho? We go to the McCall area fairly frequently. Does PY Salt & Pepper have an overall brown tone with a lot more brown than black? Most salt & peppers, for an example, Raquel Welch, seem to have this more white/black contrast? I am tempted to think they sent me Cool Ash rather than Salt & Pepper? I look like I have light brown hair as I did when I was a child??
I have a PY topper and Meg in #44 S&P and they seem to have a warmer (brown) tint to them rather than the cool black & white tones of RW's charcoal or many other #44s. And depending on the hairstyle, PY might send you more pepper in your S&P blend--like they did w/my last Meg purchase. She looks very black. I have found these kinds of issues are common when ordering from PY, which is very unfortunate. Maybe send yours back and order another in a couple of months? I don’t know why they don’t have any wigs with silver , whitish fronts fading back to black or dark brown like Rene of Paris wigs yrs ago when I sold wigs 30 sum wigs ago in my salon ? Even Rene do not carry those anymore either. I sold a lot of those

I would say that the only true way to judge that color is to just bite the bullet and order a wig in that color. You'll know if it's right or not when you finally get it in your hands. Hi Marylynne! The closest color to GSW Silver Stone would probably be SF 51/60 silvery moon. The color 56 has a little bit more brown in it rather than black so it’s going to look warmer, whereas silvery moon will look more cool in tone. Hi Shirley! I did do a review on the cool blondes and it's in my videos. If you go to my channel homepage and search for "blondes" it'll come up (I think). I have yet to do a comparison on warm blondes, so if that's the color you're looking for, I'm sorry to say I don't have a video on that. Have you contacted PY and asked for their free color swatches? They'll send you a whole collection of blonde colors for free. Try that and see if it might be easier to find a color close to what you're needing! Thanks so much for watching and sharing! I have to agree with you on that one!!! I think it’s probably all relative to how the color looks when compared to another color. Depending on the 2nd color being compared, the first color can look cool OR warm just based on what it’s compared to. But I could be wrong, too. But I also believe that each person sees colors slightly different too. So who really knows??? Not me, that’s for sure!! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Terri, Can you please tell me what you were looking for on their website and what you mean by "...none of these are there"? These colors are available on the majority of wigs that PY offers, but not on all of them. I hope I didn't mislead you somehow. Hugs, Coco

I have already pre-ordered one to do a review on and I’m hoping that she is a little more brunette with gray through it. That still doesn’t address the issue of having a streak of gray somewhere in a brunette head. But I do know that they offer 3 other colors: midnight pearl, black onyx and Sandy silver where the front bangs area is significantly whiter or grayer than the hair in the back of the wig. I agree. Can you imagine if they actually made wigs with strands of gray in it here and there? That would be so realistic no matter what the base color. There is a market to fill. Money to be made. ( speaking of mass production.)
Wow! We are SO APPRECIATIVE of all the effort/time/work you put into making this video with PY gray choices! Those color boxes online or in the PY catalog are so tiny and trial-and-error is very expensive. I ordered one of the long gray toppers based on your you-tube review, but was extremely disappointed and sent it back. (Not ur fault) The topper I received was extremely glossy and looked like nylon fish wire! It was ugly, flat & lifeless---- NOTHING like yours!. It did not look shapely like the catalog photo, and because of the small mono crown, I really couldn't tease any shape into it! This was a very nice & educational video for those who want to try Paula Young wigs.
Hi 925Sterling!! Thank you for your appreciation of my videos!! What I am finding is that so many helper hair products do not come “ready-to-wear” and must be worked with to make them presentable. And then if there’s something wrong with the mfr of the wig (which I find happens with PY products) the only recourse is to return them. So although I am disappointed for your experience, it’s no surprise to me to hear of the problems you had. 😢 The good news is that it isn’t always like that and that’s what we hope for! Thank you for the gray color review. I’m trying to decide between 44 Salt/Pepper and 56#1B Soft Pewter. My bio hair is Salt/Pepper and I have cool skin tone. It seems like most wig manufacturers have more blonde/brown colors to offer wig buyers especially in the beautiful rooted colors. But, not everyone looks good in blonde or golden colors and skin tone plays a major part in your color selection.
That’s so very true! Knowing the warmth or coolness of a wig can make a big difference. I will tell you that the salt and pepper has a slightly warm tint to it because of the combination of brown with the black. But just a slight change in lip color and blush color can help bridge that small gap. 56#1B is significantly cooler. It has silver plus a black root so it’s much cooler than 44. Honestly, if it were me I would order both of them and then compare side-by-side. Are you planning to purchase one wig between those two colors?
@@cocoshairsolutions I have a petite head and face and shorter styles look best on me. My nape and sideburns grow longer in those areas, so I try to find styles that cover them up. I can shave my nape and it looks fine but I like to keep my sideburns long to blend in with the wigs. 44 is my bio color and I’m trying to order wigs that come in that color. Right now I’m trying to decide between Daisy #A2131, Sensational #A5016 or Covergirl #A2182. I thought about Evie #A3197 which has a lace front and I’ve never owned a lace front wig. Evie only comes in average and I would have to take it up but I think the sides would be long enough to cover my sideburns and nape. Decisions, decisions 🤔
@@amitchell9820 if I remember correctly Both Daisy and Cover Girl have longer sides for a shorter style so that might work very well for your sideburn situation! I just received Daisy for my next video series but haven’t unboxed her. If you’ve watched any of my previous pixie videos you’ll know that I have to have longer sides on my pixies to cover my hairline. I have a larger measurement from ear to ear going across the back of my skull so length on the sides is really important to me, too.you’ll have to let me know what you find out!! I just found your channel and it’s very informative. I’ve worn a few variations of Paula Young’s wigs and recently ordered the first color you show here. What I received looked nothing like this at all. It didn’t even have 5 percent gray yet it was marked as this color. I had to pay the postage to return it 😡😡 which is why I never buy a wig unless I at least get free shipping to me. I should have contacted the company to complain but I’ve had to do that before due to poor construction of a wig.
Anyway, thank you for doing us understand the grays!

Your video is exactly what I was searching for. Thank you for putting so much time into making it. I wonder if wig makers realize that those of us who are natural golden blondes also end up going gray? All of the wigs I've looked at have black and brown mixed with gray. I've yet to find one that has gray mixed with golden blonde.
It sounds like you might be a good candidate for PY's Sugar and Spice 17/101 or Godiva's Secret Wigs Frosted Taupe. These are gray colors that are blended with blond shades and my clients who are graying blonds always find them a good match! Thanks so much for watching! Hugs! ~ Coco 😊

Although I have a lot of healthy hair, I have wanted to purchase a wig, so that I don’t have to spend 30 to 45 minutes drying, and styling my hair when going out just to do errands. I wasn’t sure which colors would work for me since I was planning to purchase online. I need warm colors, and you have explained very well how to understand the colors. Now I won’t be as hesitant. Fantastic! I have your cool skintone but my hair is more like #56, mostly silvery gray but with lighter brown spread throughout. Now I need to know about your glasses. I was looking at some similar ones online!

But if you want a little more light color around your face and are used to wearing silver, don’t rule out SF51/60 Silvery Moon. It still has a bit of darkness in the back by the nape. (Diana LF, Freedom and Millie)!!! I would have to say that many of the PY styles are very cute and realistic looking, but the quality of the fibers are better in the GSW/Noriko brands and they in turn will last longer-in fact, I even say so in one of my videos!! GREAT Video! Thanks so much. I'm in deep water trying to get the right grey! As a faded redhead and truly surprised at my newly discovered Covid color. I'm happy to have some pretty very white streaks around the face & even at the neck/nape. I enjoy your in depth reviews as I'm sure many others also appreciate. I hope to find the same enthusiasm and through reviews of the other brands as well, Especially Raquel Welch, Gabor and a few other better brands. I'm extremely sparse at the front & along my part line & crown, so a lace front & a skin (mono)top are badly needed. I think I'm only one of a few that does not want rooted wig/toppers. After using color touch up for so long, I'm happy to have just one color again. You are doing a great job,Thanks again!
Thank you so much for your wonderful words of encouragement!!! Trying to find the right grey can be challenging, but try not to get stuck thinking it has to match perfectly. Your skin color may look good with one color over another, and that's the one you should choose. Usually, the colors are thought of as "cool" or "warm." So that will be the first step. Then you'll need to find the right combination of white & black/brown to match what you're bio hair usually looks like. 50/50 would be #44 Salt & Pepper. More white goes into the other lighter gray colors. But some are warmer than others. So the best way I can recommend to determine this is to purchase a wig in all the colors that are closest to what you're wanting to match. After you see them side-by-side and on you, you'll be able to make the best determination. Also, remember that each wig company has their own particular blends as well, so you would be best to do the same with them as well. Lol! Yes it was him and I wasn’t sure anybody would catch that! His name is Ozzie and I’m sure I’ll introduce him to everybody at some point. thank you so much for this--56 looks more shiny than 51--is that the case or is it just the camera position? i wear silverstone by Godivas secret and am looking for something similar. Would you recommend one in particular? Thank you.
I am always hoping to see a topper without bangs. Hate them but very hard to find them on line.
The thing about toppers with no bangs is that you either have to have it be a lace front or if not a lace front, you have to have your own solid hairline. The reason for this is because the polyurethane front or standard topper front will have to be placed 1" or so behind your natural hairline. If you don't do this, you will see the obvious edge of the top piece. By the time I see clients in my shop who are asking for toppers, there are not very many people that have hairlines that can support this kind of placement. 😊 Thanks so much for watching and sharing!!! Ik it’s a year after the video but I’m learning about grays. I just recently got Shelby in #38, and even though PY doesn’t always have a name attached to it, I’d call it dark grey. It actually is very close and I mean close to ROP And Noriko Sandy Silver. I also have Haley Envy In dark grey and it’s very close, a bit lighter. Your camera and lighting makes it look lighter, almost taupe like but if anyone is familiar with those colors can give you an idea. I love that color, my favorite color so far. They’re all pretty but that color looks best for my red/dark blonde genes
And that’s great to know that if I wanted to go lighter I would go with #56. I’ll be sure and refer back to this video 😊

You are so welcome, Ann in Idaho!!! II think the color you might like is Angel's Wing. It's a beautiful soft blend like RW's 56/60. But you need to be mindful that PY also offers a rooted Angel's Wing and that's not the one you want. See if you can do a search on PY's website for Angel's Wing and it'll give you all the styles that this color is offered in! Whereabouts are you in Idaho? We go to the McCall area fairly frequently. Does PY Salt & Pepper have an overall brown tone with a lot more brown than black? Most salt & peppers, for an example, Raquel Welch, seem to have this more white/black contrast? I am tempted to think they sent me Cool Ash rather than Salt & Pepper? I look like I have light brown hair as I did when I was a child??
I have a PY topper and Meg in #44 S&P and they seem to have a warmer (brown) tint to them rather than the cool black & white tones of RW's charcoal or many other #44s. And depending on the hairstyle, PY might send you more pepper in your S&P blend--like they did w/my last Meg purchase. She looks very black. I have found these kinds of issues are common when ordering from PY, which is very unfortunate. Maybe send yours back and order another in a couple of months? Either way, it's not really acceptable, but all we can do is be sure to let them know. Good luck. Hugs, Coco 🤗

Boy, the Cool ash which looks similar to my color looks so much darker in the catalog. Now I'm confused :(
I would say that the only true way to judge that color is to just bite the bullet and order a wig in that color. You'll know if it's right or not when you finally get it in your hands. Hi Marylynne! The closest color to GSW Silver Stone would probably be SF 51/60 silvery moon. The color 56 has a little bit more brown in it rather than black so it’s going to look warmer, whereas silvery moon will look more cool in tone. Hi Shirley! I did do a review on the cool blondes and it's in my videos. If you go to my channel homepage and search for "blondes" it'll come up (I think). I have yet to do a comparison on warm blondes, so if that's the color you're looking for, I'm sorry to say I don't have a video on that. Have you contacted PY and asked for their free color swatches? I have to agree with you on that one!!! I think it’s probably all relative to how the color looks when compared to another color. Depending on the 2nd color being compared, the first color can look cool OR warm just based on what it’s compared to. But I could be wrong, too. But I also believe that each person sees colors slightly different too. So who really knows??? Not me, that’s for sure!! ❤️❤️❤️
