- I visited RCD Espanyol in Barcelona. FC Barcelona are one of the most famous clubs in world football, but I thought I'd shine a light on their city rivals Real Club Deportiu Espanyol de Barcelona.
I took the stadium tour at the RCDE Stadium and was blown away by the current best stadium in Barcelona!
#football #soccer #barcelona - Спорт
What other cities should I try this in?
germany? maybe munich or something like that.
Just some suggestions for smaller clubs in big cities:
Paris would be interesting. Red Star or FC Paris.
Turin: FC Turin
Stuttgart: Stuttgarter Kickers
Leipzig: Chemie and Lokomotive Leipzig
Porto: Boavista Porto
Lisbon: Estrella Amadora or Casa Pia or Belenenses (1 time champion in Portugal)
Brussels: RWD Molenbeek
Eindhoven: FC Eindhoven
Rotterdam: Excelsior or Sparta
Prague: Bohemians
Vienna: First Vienna FC
Athens: Atromitos
Istanbul: Kasimpaşa, Fatih Karagümrük, Istanbulspor
Greetings from Hamburg, Germany ✌🏽
How about Malmo FF? They are the most successful club in Sweden and the only Nordic club to reach a European Cup Final (lost to Forest).
I think it would be interesting
Also I know it's not Association Football. But Croke Park in Dublin stadium tour is amazing, so much History (some very tragic) and some amazing stories of Garlic Football and Hurling. The Irish rugby and Association Football team played there when Lansdowne road was benign redeveloped.
Boavista in Porto, had a European run a few years back playing Celtic in the UEFA Cup Semi-Final. There was a match fixing scandal and relegation but back in the top flight again.
As an Espanyol fan, thanks for your visit and for your kind words. Thanks again. You will always have my respect. Cheers mate
El único equipo señor de Barcelona el Espanyol
I don’t usually post comments on the videos I watch but this one deserves it. Thank you for this video talking about our amazing club, we are small against Barça that’s obvious, but we’re still a giant club in Spain that it’s in the second division thanks to the Chinese ownership and their constant bad decisions for a few years now. You’re more than welcome to watch a game! Again thank you for spending part of your time of 24h in Barcelona to record a video about our club. Nice work! 🔵⚪️
Thanks so much for watching and leaving this comment. Espanyol is an amazing club and I’ll be back for a game one day soon 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Would love to see anything about deportivo la coruna - an amazing story of how the Spanish club nearly won champions league in early 2000s to now sitting in third tier of Spanish league, really interesting
i want super depor back
You should checkout CE Europa and UE Sant Andreu the next time youre around Bcn; Lot´s of character and ambience.
It’s always interesting to see behind the scenes of teams. Being a fan of the “other” team in a city is tough, but it does make it a more personal experience. I’m in the U.S. and wearing my Charlton Athletic scarf gets more questions than comments.
Thanks again for giving exposure to the lesser exposed sides in the game.
Excellent video. Love your videos on stadiums, smaller clubs, history- things football fans live for
Great video! Loved the Espanyol tour when I did it. I never knew Pochettino played for Espanyol until i saw them play/did the tour.
he was aslo manager
I thought poch was manager ?
Another great video mate, really enjoy watching these. I'm an avid football stadium tour fan...i spent my days working in London in insurance but half of those days include walking around stadiums on google earth! I would love to visit a stadium with you and talk all things football. I have never been brave enough to do this type of hing as my fulltime job.
Wonderful! Thanks a lot! :)
Espanyol fan here, thank u for talk abou our team! In Barcelona we are more than one team
Great video, I ran around the Montjuic stadium back in 1993 on a tour. Also another team with Real in is Sociedad
Brilliant video Sam, especially like the videos where you travel as like you i love travelling and football 👍🙂
Very interesting as well, didnt know about the Espanyol links to Royal or the tragic story about the player who sadly passed away.
Great idea and look forward to other videos like this 👍⚽
Really appreciate that mate. Thanks so much for watching! I'll explore more cities very soon!
Look forward to that Sam, keep on doing what you are doing. Have been watching your channel since COVID times and great to see how well you are doing 👍🙂⚽🌍
Gracias por el video amigo, me a encantado de principio a fin, y mas viniendo de un perico jajaj es triste que no se nos reconozca mas pero el club tampoco hace mucho para remediarlo, un abrazo crack!!
Amazing Club and amazing video. Personally I would like to know more about Espanyol. Maybe next video in a match at their stadium. Jordi might get some tickets for you, super guide.🙌🏻💙
Great Video Sam, with a good tour guide, Jordi, (No doubt named after the Patron Saint of Catalonia) did well, "Muy Simpatico". You were in the country Sam, UD Ibiza awaits your visit. 🤪👍
Thanks for this video and show the other reality of Barcelona.
Barcelona is not just FCB.
C’mon RCD Espanyol!💪
Thanks for doing this video, people around the world needs to know that there is more than 1 club in Barcelona 🙌🙌
Im a big Barca fan and go two or three times a season to the games . I went to the montjuic in November and I really liked it. I will be back at montjuic next month for Granada game. Looking forward to the new nou camp opening up.
Cool I'll need to go to that stadium. Thanks for watching and all the best!
I’ve been watching for 3 or 4 months now, thanks for the inspiration!
Sporting Gijon v Real Oviedo, the Asturias Derby, coming up in February
Betis v Sevilla,April
The Basque Clubs,Bilbao,Sociedad,Osasuna,Alaves,Eibar
Another great video Sam,Espanyol are on my 'to do' list
Good stuff as ever Sam, a lovely city for stadiums, CE Europa, UE Sant Andreu ,CE L'Hospitalet, AE Prat, CF Badalona and Cornella which is around 100 yards away from Espanyol all grounds in the city i've visited alond with Camp Nou and the Mini Estadio now demolished. I Saw Espanyol v Barca in the Copa Del Rey a few years ago and Messi missed a penalty
What a great video Sam lots of it I didn’t even know about them
Glad you enjoyed, thanks mate!
Nice coverage of a lesser heard of, although bigger Spanish club!
I lived in Spain for 7 years and there is a great convoluted relegation/promotion process at lower levels and regionalisation due to the countries size!
A shout out to the team I followed and indeed watched Orihuela club de futbol
Wondering if you would be up to coming back to see Blantyre Victoria at home and see the new ultras at work.
Love the vids and content, all the best.
A great tour guide and a top stadium !
I was in Barcelona this past summer. Toured Espanyol initially because the Nou Camp was being renovated, but so glad I stumbled upon it. Absolutely unreal experience, what a club!
Nice job my brother 💙👌🏻
Thanks Adam ✌
Saw them play Sevilla a couple of years ago. Great ground and fans.
Sam, you like quirky grounds and passionate clubs. Try going to Nou Sardenya, home of Club Esportui (CE) Europa who, I think, were a founder of La Liga with Barcelona and Espanyol in 1929. They are currently in the fourth tier and the ground in is the district of Gracia in the north of Barcelona.
Lisbon, some truly stunning lower level stadiums, Atletic Clube de Portugal, FC Alverca, SG Sacavanense, Clube Oriental de Lisboa are sublime.
I always think Espanyol probably because I’m a Everton fan and know what it’s like to share a city with a worldwide club
Went last year. Done the excellent tour at the camp nou then went to see RCD Espanyol vs Osasuna. My 1st game in another country. Excellent atmosphere in a cracking stadium. Thought it was brand new as it was so clean. Learned all about Dani Jarque as they do the minutes applause on the 21st minute as that was his number. Highly recommended
Real Zaragoza(my beloved),Real Murcia,Real Betis,Real Madrid,Real Sociedad,Real Oviedo,Real Valladolid and Real Mallorca are the respective Spanish footballing clubs which I know, their respective names would start from the word "Real",good friend Sam!!!🏋♂️
Real Jaen, Real Union, Real Club Deportivo La Coruna, VillarREAL
Real Club Celta de Vigo.
Real Sporting de Gijon
Real Zaragoza
@@brentton2 I have honestly missed that but thanks for rectifying this, good friend!!!🏋♂️
Id love for you to visit Kaiserslautern,it's where when I was stationed in Germany I feel in love with German football
I went to a Barcelona derby whilst on holiday in 2007. Espanyol scored with virtually the last kick of the game to get a 2-2 draw (some guy called Messi scored both Barca`s goals if I remember rightly). Those 2 dropped points cost Barca the Championship that season as if they had won they would have been 2 points ahead of Real Madrid with a game left . Both Barca and Madrid won their last game and Madrid won the League on goal difference
Tamudazo
I remember that. It wasn't that long after the RCDE side had lost a UEFA cup final the same year. The same "perico" guy to whom I gave emotional support in the office after the UEFA final came to me saying "hahahah, f*ck you, we made you lose the Liga!" Ever since of that I keep a longer than a barge pole distance with those guys.
I went for the Espanyol tour a few weeks ago only €15 and same guy did the tour , nice guy and very knowledgable and can tell he loves the club .
Love from an Espanyol fan🤍💙
I’m a Gooner but always fun to pick a few teams in other leagues to follow and visit.
Great vid buddy. Tell me you’re heading up the road to Girona?
Yes top of la liga good choice !
Athletic Bilbao is one you should do very unique club with a modern stadium and a beautiful city
Yes, been meaning to for ages!
Raul Tamudo, great striker
They really should leave stadiums open for people to walk in to.
I was in Bologna last year and the gates were locked when I was at the stadium (whcih si one of the most beautiful European Stadiums) would have been lovely to have a walk around inside. Can't imagine the costs of having a a few security guards would be that prohibitive ad the'd probably make up the cost with extra merchandise sales if they keep the stadiums open.
As an RCD Espanyol fan, thank you for your words mate
I first heard of Espanyol in 2007 when they reached the UEFA Cup final
Went to Barcelona in 2021 for a holiday, tried to get a espanyol tour, but stumbled on them playing against luzern in the Europe league. Brilliant game winning 3-0, been following the periquitos ever since
Your telling me fans never turned to watch the game to the point a tourist got a free ticket?
@ifldiscovery8500 there was only like 20,00 at the game. Europa league prequalifying
You should need to go to Nou Sardenya, CE Europa, in Barcelona.
Watched Andorra vs England at the Olympic stadium in Barcelona
Sam yoker athletic am I right in the late 60s ,rangers game called off 6 to 8,000 turned up Blantyre Vic, memory old now ,watched chelsea v Norton and the opening of hankies all seater ? Great work love the foreign travel been to most major European grounds and many smaller, good luck
There might be more than one hundred Royal football clubs in Spain. Many are quite small. I know for example the Real Tapia, and Real Titanico, both amateur clubs from small towns in Asturias, northern Spain.
Yay Espanyol! Mi equipo favorito de España 💙 come on you budgies
I read somewhere that during Espanyol’s first match at the RCDE stadium in 2009, Ivan Alonso scored a goal & paid tribute to Daniel Jarque, and at the same time, Daniel’s pregnant girlfriend gave birth to their daughter
come to Tenerife . great stadium
How about a visit to TSV 1860 Munich, Grünwalder Stadium
similar to espanyol they have been living in the bigger city neighbours shadow for a good while, after all TSV 1860 won the Bundesliga in 1966 before
bayern who shared the same stadium at the time, and monty python done a sketch there as well
Look stunning on screen when cam showing players tunnel view
Not my intent to insult but I recall Messi carrying the ball on floody grass here with Barc red shirt
It was beauty just binge on
Mate if you´re still there at the weekend, you should head to see CE Europa in the Gracia area of Bcn. They´re in the fourth tier and are a proper community club with a tidy wee stadium. UE Sant Andreu are at the same level are a great club too but they´re away at the weekend. The derby between them is the alternative Barcelona derby and the atmosphere at the one I went to was incredible. Plus it´s only about 10 euros to get in, unlike that top tier overpriced nonsense! :)
Espanyol scare me as an Everton fan old enough to remember us being league champions twice in 3 years. You want the derby to be like Real v Atleti , but the past 30 years are like Barca v Espanyol !
Tienes que visitar el estadio de la cartuja en Sevilla
Please go Nairn county 😊
i thought of Barcelona B
The reserve team 😅
The shirt is worth more than any trophy ,great work sam
In fact Espanyol stadium (40.000) is bigger than Zaragaoza stadium (32.000). We also say that Espanyol is the strength of a feeling. If you are from Barcelona, Espanyol is not the easiest choice because you know that will be very dificult to win cups and to have the most expensive players, But in Espanyol you will find pride, tradition, humililty and rage and this is more important that tittles. And It is transmitted from fathers to sons
Check out CE Europa next time
Not a patch on Bayview on Saturday!
Obviously,Barcelona are the biggest in the biggest but I fully know extremely so much ever since I was a child about their arch rivals, that is Espanyol and their famous player is Raul Tamudo sir but they are in the Spanish Second Division/Segunda Division where I have been updated on,,good friends!!!:-D
Thanks for still watching Depek. You're the BEST!!!
@@FootyAdventuresYou are welcome and thanks and you too are the best, good friend!!!🏋♂️
Have you the futbology app?
My son done this tour and he was wearing his Barcelona kit, before we started the tour, the guide, asked him to go to the toilet to turn the top inside out 😂 Being a Rangers fan, i embraced this. Respect to the rivalry. Albeit my son is Northern Irish, 9 years old and not an actual Barcelona fan 😂😂❤️🤍💙🐻
Unreal stadium and club RCD Espanyol is tho 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇬🇧👑🤝🏻🇪🇸👑
went to a derby once and one of the Espanyol fans was waving a Rangers flag! Went over and spoke to him and got a photo, turns out his da wis fae Glesga!
@@KDC_1899 When we done the tour. I posted it on social media afterwards and quite a few had mentioned, the fans connection between RCD Espanyol and Rangers. They're now my son's and my Spanish team.. Definitely will be trying to get over for a game. Hopefully back in La Liga in near future 🤞🏻
Yes, the majority of our fans are against independence, just like Rangers fans.
@@josecarlosmorenomartinez4989 The day we done the tour of your stadium. We became Espanyol fans.. Was hoping Northern Ireland v Spain friendly was going to be picked for that ground. But it's in Mallorca instead. Was over for the last Spain game against Northern Ireland and they played it in Gran Canaria 🇬🇧👑 🤝🏻 🇪🇸👑
Cracking stadium, they deserve La Liga
fact that Mauricio Pochettino was a player for RCD Espanyol between 1994-2001 and 2004 to 2006 aslo he manged the club between 2009 and 2012
Yes very true!
Your face in the duty free when there was no Espanyol merchandise 🤣
Full respect to RCD Espanyol and hope they come straight back up. MCFC OK
Not sure what the Iago Aspas fella was all about, but I loved it.
Haha he was a Celta Vigo fan
@@FootyAdventures The love of football breaking the language barrier. That's what it's all about.
Bruh camp nou just being renovated
Haven't even watched the full video yet Sam, but my son and me done the Espanyol stadium and I really want to get back to see the place full and in full voice. Great stadium. Reminded me kind of my beloved Rangers and Ibrox ❤️💙🇬🇧👑🤝🏻🇪🇸👑 WATP
Hahaha they served you a Catalan Estrella Damm in an Estrella de Galicia glass! I bet the waiter was Andalusian ;)
Please visit 1860 Munchen
Good video. Are Barca fans as zealous as L'Pool fans?
Real Madrid, Real Betis, Real Zaragoza, Real Sociadad and Real Mallorca are the ones I can name as well as Espanyol
I had always assumed they were called Espanyol because they wanted to differentiate themselves from ‘Catalan’ Barcelona. I didn’t know that truthfully it was to differentiate from the other British/non-Spanish founded clubs.
They changed from Español to Espanyol to appear more Catalan. They also had to invent the word "deportiu" to retain the initials RCD because the Catalan word for Deportivo is Esportiu. 😂
Red Star Paris
Is my suggestion
that might make an interesting vlog.

Cheers Alan! I'll need to visit
La Rosealada is a fantastic stadium
real oviedo is another I can think of
Yep, I'll need to visit!
I was over in Barca last summer and I picked up and Espanyol shirt.
In Valencia I picked up a Lavente shirt..

Haha that's all coming back this weekend
Quality watch again real Sociedad

Rcde is the BEST club of Catalonia and his stadium too.
Not bad Olympic stadium.
So where did you prefer visiting…Methil or Barcelona?
Tough one but I'd say Barcelona JUST edged it
Wikipedia took me on an unexpected journey!
Anyone who knows the story of West Auckland winning the Thomas Lipton Cup. Jack Greenwell was in their team in 1909.... going on to play for Barcelona..... before a long managerial career in Spain..... and is the only non South American coach to win Copa America!

I thought I remembered you'd done the story 😁
"How could I come to Barcelona and not have an Estrella.......Estrella Galicia 😂
Wolves played Espanyol in Europa League in 2019/2020 season.
We're a Premier League club, we exist outside of the Top/Sky Six.
So disrespectful!!!
This stadium is in Cornellá.
Espanyol Stadium is not in Barcelona city..
Is half in Cornellá, half in El Prat, but not....Barcelona
You have many other football clubs in Barcelona that are actually in Barcelona
the rcde stadium is the biggest in 2 division
The tourguide said: one of the best Stadium in Europe …. Bro .. The stadium stadium is nice, but looks pretty average and doesn't look special at all
Even the olympic stadium and a demolished camp nou looks more majestic
9:08. THAT. IS. A. LIE!!!🤣🤣🤣
As Espanyol fan I thank you for this video. Our Club is a historical club in Spain but unfortunately this season we play in second division. We played in the Olympic stadium for 12 years until we were able to build our current home and paradoxically those years were the most successful (2 copas del Rey and one time Europa League finalist).
Our club is characterized by not being politicized and we do not have the political and sporting influences of our neighbor.
I feel very proud to be a club that has pride and dignity and is not involved in cases of corruption.
So a catalan club can’t be proud of their catalan culture? Also they havent even been proven guilty of anything. What happened to the whole innocent until proven guilty??
@@dann9208 The last 5 presidents of the club have been investigated or imprisoned for cases of corruption but it doesn't matter because it's a club proud of its Catalan culture. The Spanish justice system has accused the club of bribing referees for the last 20 years, but it doesn't matter because it's a club proud of its Catalan culture. They are currently renovating their stadium and the working conditions of immigrant workers are inhumane, but it doesn't matter because it's a club proud of its Catalan culture.
Do you get my point?
