The immunity part is probably wrong. You can cloak aswell as BoP 'Flamestrike' dmg, which is Physical + Fire. Thus, I'd assume it works the same for Holystrike.

That is what they are doing with Ret, we are getting the DH treatment. We get rid of a useless builder in Crusader Strike and build holy power passively. We build with Judgment and BoJ as GCDs which will allow for much more space to use other GCDs that aren’t builders or spenders. It way opens up the flexibility in the rotation
most content creators didn't get there via being good at school skills like reading comprehension. they get there by being forces of personality. it is what it is, what a day, etc.
The abilities that now also do physical damage is probably a hybrid damage source like shadowflame, shadowfrost and stuff like that called Holystrike damage. Its just 2 types of damage rolled into one.
This is really exciting can't wait to test these changes out! Crazy first time blizz doing this during an expansion especially this early I like how they are doing fixes/changes sooner rather than later.

50% more often art of war procs are already in the game. I don't why that talent was even mined. It's exactly what's already in game. Also, 50% more than the stock 12%, is only 18%. Percentages are multiplicative, not additive. 1.5 x 12 = 18.

And forbearance has to go. I want talents to be bubble depell immune or make bubble undispellable baseline. Using your 4-5 min CD defensive and having it not only dispelled 1 second into its 8seconds but then be unable to lay on hands is garbage.
Penitence(15% buff to periodic damage) may be useful against enemies that want to stealth after they have been in combat to pop rogue Shields when they vanish. Forcing a rogue to spend cloak of shadows so they can hide will nerf the usefulness of cloak and their shield if both must be used to hide... like blizzard makes us use blessing of freedom with steed if we want to move during steed.
I feel some changes across the class. That hammer spell is different from Prots. With prot, you cast yourself as a builder. This is a cast once and get a buff that causes that effect. Which would mean they're leaning into the buff/aura maintain playstyle.

I've been playing a Pally since Vanilla. Mained as holy all the way up to the end of Wrath & then switched to retribution. My pally is the very 1st char I ever made, it's still my main to this day. I can't wait to see these new talents work. Bout time ret gets an overhaul. Think Bliz.

So this is why rets dont have a gap closer, they can do almost all of their burst from range. No other melee can do this much dmg from range. Closest is surv hunter... third closest is a dk... it sounds like instead of giving us a gap closer they are just doubling down on giving us more range abilities, which IS good, but it does NOT feel like a melee... when I can 100 to O someone all from range I am basically a caster... it is very strong, but how does this fit the ret theme and play style of a melee dps... feels more like a shockadin at this point. Bye ret...

The game is owned by Blizzard, if you don't like using ranged abilities on a paladin go play any other melee. Mobility would be nice to combat Los'ed healers drinking and enemies pillar humping but I'll take the range and free slow applications happily.

Ever since WoD everything introduced to buff damage has came with a hidden minus damage. Where as in Cata when we got Inquisition it was additional to what was already there. Get this physical damage crap outta here, just buff holy damage and leave it holy. We're not warriors, we're paladins. Its like Feral, theres like 3-4 Rip talents, that means Rip was nerfed so that when you take all those talents its back to normal.
@Jesse Moses I think the benefit of adding physical damage to current holy damage only abilities aid us in doing damage during cloak of shadows type abilities only. If holy damage is harder to mitigate than armor reduced damage from physical, and our overall damage output is the same, this is a nerf, as the physical damage is mitigated some by simply wearing armor. However, classes that primarily do physical damage are known to be able to kill paladin just as easy as every other spec. It all comes down to tuning, but I am optimistic.
I dont think adding the damage to steed is a good idea. Pvp would just feel bad and pve it's gonna cause you to burn your mobility as damage which could leave you in a position that you can't get out of a mechanic quick enough.
still no gap closer no charge or increased movement ability, warriors get leap, two charges and intervene, monks way too much, DH all over the place i guess DK are like rets with just wraith walk but at least DK's get a gap closer with grip and a spamable slow with chains buffing damage and making us survive is brilliant but will mean jack if we are still a wheelchair class.
It seems they are wanting to get ret abilities more range to make up for the lack of movement, also giving more cc options. I can't think of that talents off the top of my head but there was about 3 that affected ability range usage. on paper that concept seems like it could work but we can't really say until its in peoples hands for testing

Judgment used with some of these talents makes it a nearly spammable slow, just not a terribly strong slow, but the wake of ashes slow is strong. With resource generation and cooldown reduction for major damaging abilities improved and range increased, enemies may need to hide to live and I'm OK with hiding from ret not being impossible. If we had a slow that was not dispellable AND more mobility with these other changes, we would be God's. I don't want to see Ret nerfed on the PTR and then again on live. I hope the tuning feels like DH or Fury sustained damage and auto-self healing in our rotation like others get from leach. What I don't like is dampening and nerfs making our self healing garbage and a total waste of holy power. As it is now on live we are not a hybrid and can heal ourselves less than almost any spec.
I don't actually play retail but these changes look well directed but I still feel like they're just buffing overall damage (that is an actual issue for rets) but not talking much about defensives and movility and we're lacking both of them really hard.
What do you mean not talking much about defensives? Divine Protection baseline 1min CD, 37 sec with Unbreakable Will 40% DR in PvP combat on top of additionally having Shield of Vengeance with a baked in 30% DR on a 1min CD. Together with all the passive healing were going to get survivabillity should not be the issue. Only thing I would still like to see is either passive movement speed or movement speed attached to an offensive abillity and the spec will be perfect

In other hand DV 10% buff it's pretty good as well with SoV but you still choose one of them(?) Divine shield still 5m CD so you have 1-2ish minutes wall and a 5m CD bop. Those are good changes but i don't know if its enough.

@@aoex damp + ms will kill the healing anyway, it’s just good for a little extra survivability. Most of rets defensives are healing that’s one of the reasons they’re squishy rn. But if this is added to the other healing passives it’ll be decent self sustain but get weaker as the game goes on
They’re basically just turning specs into there Diablo counterparts, they’ve done it with hunter monk and now pala 😂there’s probs more but hunters have rain of vengeance now essentially, monks now have thundering clap which turns tiger palm into legions shadowstrike and tp’s you to your target, paladins also getting divine steed and blessed hammer 😂 I’m not hating I love it but yenno there not exactly being original unless you consider re using there own ideas “original” 😂😂 these are just the examples I can think of I know for sure there’s more just couldn’t pull them from the top of my head :)

What if HoJ is dispell able, but it has a backlash. Ret paladin dispell protection. Dispelled gets stunned for half DR haha.

During MoP/WoD you could make a semi ranged retribution and it was quite fun being a mid ranged class.

Ever since WoD everything introduced to buff damage has came with a hidden minus damage. Where as in Cata when we got Inquisition it was additional to what was already there. Get this physical damage crap outta here, just buff holy damage and leave it holy. We're not warriors, we're paladins.
Its like Feral, theres like 3-4 Rip talents, that means Rip was nerfed so that when you take all those talents its back to normal.
Like getting a stimulus check and finding out inflation went up 20% and your money buys a whole lot less.

@Jesse Moses I think the benefit of adding physical damage to current holy damage only abilities aid us in doing damage during cloak of shadows type abilities only. If holy damage is harder to mitigate than armor reduced damage from physical, and our overall damage output is the same, this is a nerf, as the physical damage is mitigated some by simply wearing armor. However, classes that primarily do physical damage are known to be able to kill paladin just as easy as every other spec. It all comes down to tuning, but I am optimistic.
I dont think adding the damage to steed is a good idea. Pvp would just feel bad and pve it's gonna cause you to burn your mobility as damage which could leave you in a position that you can't get out of a mechanic quick enough.
I expect damage from steed to be extremely low, just enough to unstealth someone you run past or get someone in combat when they are drinking.

still no gap closer no charge or increased movement ability, warriors get leap, two charges and intervene, monks way too much, DH all over the place i guess DK are like rets with just wraith walk but at least DK's get a gap closer with grip and a spamable slow with chains buffing damage and making us survive is brilliant but will mean jack if we are still a wheelchair class.

It seems they are wanting to get ret abilities more range to make up for the lack of movement, also giving more cc options. I can't think of that talents off the top of my head but there was about 3 that affected ability range usage. on paper that concept seems like it could work but we can't really say until its in peoples hands for testing
@@Mathias-vi3gf chains and hamstring is spamable where as a ret hinderance has a cooldown so much for the long cooldown on steed and freedom which can be stolen, we have zero gap closer is my point
Judgment used with some of these talents makes it a nearly spammable slow, just not a terribly strong slow, but the wake of ashes slow is strong. With resource generation and cooldown reduction for major damaging abilities improved and range increased, enemies may need to hide to live and I'm OK with hiding from ret not being impossible. If we had a slow that was not dispellable AND more mobility with these other changes, we would be God's. I don't want to see Ret nerfed on the PTR and then again on live. I hope the tuning feels like DH or Fury sustained damage and auto-self healing in our rotation like others get from leach. What I don't like is dampening and nerfs making our self healing garbage and a total waste of holy power. As it is now on live we are not a hybrid and can heal ourselves less than almost any spec.
I don't actually play retail but these changes look well directed but I still feel like they're just buffing overall damage (that is an actual issue for rets) but not talking much about defensives and movility and we're lacking both of them really hard.

Divine Protection baseline 1min CD, 37 sec with Unbreakable Will 40% DR in PvP combat on top of additionally having Shield of Vengeance with a baked in 30% DR on a 1min CD.
Together with all the passive healing were going to get survivabillity should not be the issue.
Only thing I would still like to see is either passive movement speed or movement speed attached to an offensive abillity and the spec will be perfect

@@aoex I mean yeah you got your heal buffed but it should't be treated as a defensive and is not a big difference anyways.
In other hand DV 10% buff it's pretty good as well with SoV but you still choose one of them(?) Divine shield still 5m CD so you have 1-2ish minutes wall and a 5m CD bop. Those are good changes but i don't know if its enough.

Prolly not in PvP be liked half or a quarter but even then damp will fix that. regardless I doubt it’ll stay 100% in PvP

@@aoex damp + ms will kill the healing anyway, it’s just good for a little extra survivability. Most of rets defensives are healing that’s one of the reasons they’re squishy rn. But if this is added to the other healing passives it’ll be decent self sustain but get weaker as the game goes on

They’re basically just turning specs into there Diablo counterparts, they’ve done it with hunter monk and now pala 😂there’s probs more but hunters have rain of vengeance now essentially, monks now have thundering clap which turns tiger palm into legions shadowstrike and tp’s you to your target, paladins also getting divine steed and blessed hammer 😂 I’m not hating I love it but yenno there not exactly being original unless you consider re using there own ideas “original” 😂😂 these are just the examples I can think of I know for sure there’s more just couldn’t pull them from the top of my head :)
All these talents mean almost nothing I bet. they are just testing out crap to see what works and doesn't.
doing damage as a reward for successfully interrupting is bs tho (your reward is already there as you're being disruptive, don't be dumb about it), but these datamined abilities look pretty cool.
