i never put two jobs together so close on the calendar where big distances are involved. Its too difficult to get cover that short of notice if i get delayed for what ever reason.
Mannn that's a quick turnaround. I love what you said about your value as a freelancer is based on who you know, who you've worked with, and who you've had a good experience with. That's really helpful perspective. Keep it up man! You're rocking it!
i just finished watching your vlogs from 001 to 124. What a journey you took us with you! Your style and personality makes it easy to follow these videos. All the best!
Hey David, it was a pleasure meeting you on fight night even if it was brief. We'll have to find another time to meetup at some point and talk more. Might be headed your way in Florida at some point this year. Just glad to have met you!
3:00 It's interesting that they don't hit REC on A7S on the gimbal, with the original A7S it could only do 4K externally and not internally so when you hit rec it would show that it was outputting a REC signal Dave dougdale found that with the A7S2 recording externally by hitting record on the external monitor vs hitting record on the body actually had a difference in quality, he called it skin smoothing, I can't find the original article but a video by John Moore comes up that explains it if you search 'Sony Waxy Skin' I would imagine this is still the case for Sony cameras
I would have 100% crashed on the way to tally due to falling asleep behind the wheel. I took a red eye from my first fight with Dalty, never again….. y’all are a different breed.
I don’t typically do this but I realized I had basically double booked myself. I wouldn’t volunteer for that early of a flight. Especially with the Amex plat allowing late checkout 😂
Were gonna connect very soon mark my words my friend! I absolutely love everything youre doing. Huge inspiration. Sad i missed ya in my neck of the woods! Just been so busy lately as well 🥲 next time your up north (new jersey/ny/pa we’ll have to link up man! Fellow freelancer:)
@@davidmorefield awesome dude. We shall connect when the time is right. Maybe become homies and youll have free housing in the philly area ;) we have a lot of similar takes on things so i think we’d get along. Youre ahead of me in the game but ive been creating all my life just the same 🥰💪🏻
Great episode David! Was the ESPN shoot union? Did you have any issues with working as a non union gimbal op? (i'm assuming you're non union atm) I ask because in the past I couldn't get on live events as a camera op because the production was union members only.
Well now we expect more singing at the end of vlogs 🤣 Flying straight from one gig to another is something I've only done a few times because of how exhausting it can be. Hopefully you have some downtime after. Keep it up!
The singing was fun and I don’t want to take this vlog too seriously y’know? Yeah I was stressing about getting a flight delay. That would’ve ruined my next gig. Thank goodness I have like the next two weeks off to just chill. Well, kind of chill. I just planned that filmmaker meetup. I really need to get a sponsor.
@@davidmorefield With the spots being taken as quick as they were I bet you could make that happen. You're making Orlando the hub for video production peeps.

Yeah it was a big risk.

Im taking requests 😂
@@davidmorefield whatever request you will take, remember - you gotta rickroll us at some point in future :D

It’s literally the factor that dictates how much you work. My relationships are everything.
@@davidmorefield love that.

You are a trooper sir 🫡
That left foot thing is a common thing in NYC :D Great video David.

@@Supercon57 interesting. Yeah nothing is being recorded in camera. It’s a 4k signal that is converted to 720p once it hits the broadcast
On NHL we just record the arrivals in camera and then play back to EVS once they’re in RF range.
They tossed around that idea but I think the director wanted to see it in real time. So they just used the tethered cam.

We must have been in NYC at the same time. I was there on the 12th for a livestream for the Super Bowl, had to fly in from London to JFK.
Long flight!
@@davidmorefield Yeah nearly 9 hrs each way! Only in New York for two days then had to fly back!
