    Great intro to the rodecaster! I'm Ted Bailey, a radio broadcaster in the states and most recently a host for Live it Up Shanghai, Shanghai, China. I did that for seven years. I am a graduate of a broadcasting school in engineering, broadcasting, and journalism. As most of us in radio, I have done a ton of commercials and other production and live radio shows for years down in Texas as well. I love your demo and teaching aid. Keep up the good work. I do a podcast or two. One is SciFiConnection Podcast, heard everywhere. Later, dude.

    When I saw this for the first time, I didn't get much from it since at the time , I didn't own this audio interface.
    But now that I own one, its refreshing to see this tutorial. I appreciate the time you took to teach this to us. Much appreciated. God bless you.

    Thanks for the tutorial. Question for you (if you have time to answer): My Rodecaster Pro isn't allowing me to load new sounds into the pads. I'm on a Mac. I've downloaded and launched the latest software. I open the app, but the pads are greyed out so that I can't drag SFX over. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?

    Hi, thank you for the video, it's a good tutorial, I am new and would like to know 2 things, 1-first is it possible to record straight away from the Rodecaster as a sound? I mean I would like to record straight away video and audio, but if I only do audio like in this video I might have some issues as video and Audio won't be aligned together
    2- Do you know how could I do a different voice ( for example I want to do roleplay, and do robot voice, kid voice, woman voice... is it possible with the rodecaster ?) Thank you

    It’s was great. My speed since I am not great with technology. I just got my machine today and I didn’t purchase headphones and I’m trying to hear the mic and nothing from my phone when connected ( please don’t laugh lol I told you I stink at technology) I set my computer to the rodecaster input and output. Do I need the headphones or a speaker ?

  • @fotoeikenburg

    Just a tip: don’t add background music if you are teaching your audience what you want them to learn. It doesn’t add any value, on the contrary, it is distracting and annoying. If you do want backgroundmusic in your video nevertheless, adjust the volume to minus 20 or minus 25 dB. So it is background and not quite heard as if the listener doesn’t know what to listen to. Either you or the music...

    • @podwhale
      @podwhale  3 года назад +6

      I was literally thinking about this the other day and I will try it out without background music next time (when I get time to do another video) - it's better for me because it is less work too :D

    • @fotoeikenburg
      @fotoeikenburg 3 года назад

      @@podwhale Indeed it is! Thanks for the effort anyway. I know it is a lot of work even without background music to send out a good tutorial whatsoever. Thank you for that anyway!

      Lol i definitely was distracted trying to figure out it this was usher's nice & slow beat or if it was just similar but on the contrary i had to watch it more than once to actually pay attention

      actually the music made me Watch the entire thing instead of listening to the same old podcast voice. Didn’t know you can pause the recording. Especially when I seen others say you couldn’t. Nice info. Also you can swipe up or down on the screen to go into different menus or exit to home

    Can you record direct into audacity like stereo mix (recording the whole audio your computer hears) without the card?

    • @podwhale

      I haven't tried it with Audacity, but you can with other software but it gets a little complex. I just wanted to show the most basic record/transfer setup for less technical people in this video

    I have garageband. When I try to edit my file from the Rodecaster Pro, do I need to be concerned about the EQ settings in Garageband? I noted various compression settings and controls in Garageband that might affect the sound. I want to preserve the audio choices from the Rodecaster Pro. You didn't seem to adjust anything when you dropped the file into Audacity.

    • @podwhale
      @podwhale  4 года назад

      Thanks for the comment, it's a lot to get into but I think you have given me a lot of ideas for future videos. I didn't adjust anything, this was just the basics of getting up and running. The Rodecaster is set up with some presets that allow you to get away with minimal post production.

  • @justacting234

    There's a hissing sound on tour audio during the silence. I would've thought the RCP would help alleviate that issue. It's not a sound that would've bothered be before researching audio equipment but now it'sjust annoying. Great review otherwise though.

    What’s the difference in using an SD card versus just recording straight to garage band?

    • @podwhale
      @podwhale  4 года назад

      it depends, if you are doing multitrack to the sd card, the only difference is you need to transfer it first. I think another difference is the way the gain settings work. I don't think the faders do anything if you record direct to GB
