thank you so much for sharing this with us! I'm going to try to make this. I haven't knit in a decade so need to relearn, but I'm always cold so this is a perfect thing to make
Hi Priscilla to knit this shawl in size 4 yarn you would want to use the needles that match your yarn so 4mm - 6mm. You'll need to knit a gauge swatch to see how many stitch you get per 4" this will tell you how many to cast on for 16" wide (or the width you want). And from there you're just knitting to length!
Hi Maureen, Thank you for your kind words. 4 ply wool is much thinner than the bulky weight wool I use for this scarf. So you can do a couple of things to adjust it. Use an appropriate size needle to match your yarn and cast on more stitches until you have enough for a 16" wide scarf (or your desired width). Or you can try holding two strands of the 4 ply together and use that with 8mm needles and follow the video pattern. You'll just use twice as much yarn, so you need enough. I hope this helps! Crystal
Hi 🙋♀️. I’m a beginner at knitting but been crocheting for a long time now. And I learned to knit the way you do. I wanted to do a pocket shawl for my mother but I only have worsted yarn and single point needle (7mm, 9mm, 10mm, and 12mm) 11inches long. Would it be ok to use a worsted yarn and 7mm single point needle to make this ?
Hi Ashley! Yes I think this is an easy pattern to translate. Since I’m using a chunky #5, you’ll need to cast on more stitches. 7mm and worsted should work well. You’ll just want to work up a little gauge swatch to help calculate how many stitches to cast on for the width you want. If you just cast on what I have here it’ll likely be too narrow. If you want help figuring out how many to cast on you can email me ChristaCoDesign@gmail.com and I’ll try to help!

Hi I notice that you like instrumental background music. I love Dappy T Keys piano instrumentala here in RUclips because it is relaxing.
I love this pattern thank you. How could I adjust to use my size 4 yarn stash?

I’ve been looking for a knitted pocket shawl. If we want it wider how many would we cast on? What is the multiple? A new subscriber
Hi Jeni, with this one you can cast on in any number. Hope that helps :)

Music is annoying. But your shawl is nice
Thank you, yes I’ve moved away from using music anymore 😊
