Yes! about an hr South you can catch a boat to isla De La Plata which has amazing scuba diving! You can also check with Ocean Freaks run by Davo (speaks great English) as they do diving and fishing charters also!
Good morning and thank you for your thoughts. Sure, you are welcome to to try to find a private seller and do a "sell by owner" deal just like is available in the US and everywhere else. But then you have nobody representing you, scouting properties, offering more listings to see, answering questions about property history, location, positives and negatives, comps, etc etc. There is a reason why that type of property buying is not popular in North America and growing less and less popular here. If it were that easy and safe, everyone would do it. You also have to understand that unfortunately some sellers will see a foreigner and raise their price, and since there are no comps posted you can easily overpay for a property since you have no representation to protect you. We always share comps in the area, as we know the comps, since we sold many of the comps. We actually turn down listings if we feel that there is something wrong with the property, it is over priced, etc. as we always want to be sure clients are knowledgeable about everything and happy. All of this being said I will also say that you want to research your agent/realtor to be sure they are good and trustworthy. Look for reviews, how long in business, ask them plenty of questions, if possible ask locals about them, etc. And don't be afraid to ask to speak with the seller. Any realtor who has a problem with this might be trying to hide something. We have no problem getting a seller on the phone if a client would like to ask a direct question.
