Binging with Babish: Fire Flakes from Avatar The Last Airbender

- Sokka's appetite betrays him during his visit to the fire nation when a tempting-looking snack, dubbed 'flaming fire flakes', turn out to be spicy. Whaddaya know. This week, we're manifesting the firebenders' chips of choice using an innovative recipe from ChefSteps, a little creativity, and some tingly-spicy Sichuan peppercorns!

The reason sokka probably thought the flakes were so spicey is probably because he is from the southern water tribe, which is very isolated and probably doesn't get much trade which means less spices of any kind
Realistically they likely eat a lot of salt-based foods. And Air Nomads likely foraged a lot. Earth Nation is the only one I can’t imagine many meals for that are unique
@@alize0623 it could be sugar because of that rock candy stuff from the earth bending book.
I’m under the assumption that water tribe foods were made mostly of preserved meats, probably some cheeses aswell, but I digress.
Seal jerky, stewed sea prunes, and arctic hen are water tribe favorites. Probably very bland food lol
@@alize0623 earth kingdom probably had the widest variety of foods due to the vast expanse of arable land for crops/livestock. notably the fire nation village where they got the flaming fire flakes was actually an earth kingdom colony.
A way to make them without dehydrator: Cut up some rice paper (the kind for spring rolls) and fry them in oil, they should puff up in like 2 seconds and you can pull them out and put them on a paper towel. Then season however you’d like
this should be higher!! thanks!
