Totally agree by way they performed for you., on the for smaller mushier weak waves and for the average guy to have fun with. Thanks Ben that was fun....
The opening I used to have a wagon just like it hahaha in the year of our lord 1972 I love the opening new board so cool. First fish I remember was riden by a guy at my local break very well I might add in 1973. I think it was a little wide. In fact it might have been near 21". Maybe it was a little shorter also.
Congratulations Legend!!!!! You are an inspiration to us all!!! You have made such a positive impact to the surfing community!! Keep doing what you are doing because you are an inspiration to us all!!!!!
Can confirm. Had a 5'6" Fling and absolutely loved that thing. Still miss it sometimes. The Album Plasmic twin fin looks like a nice substitute, though.
Husband (lazy) poaching on wife's account again : Your comments on the new board were spot on - that puppy wants to move ! Be to to share your first vid of that 4-6 ft, bowlnsteep day with us ! If there was ever a day for one of your rubber bump jumpers this was it at 3 feet as you called it . Three ? Really ? It seemed like one of those days that the degree of fun you can generate is how it might be described. I.M.O
I’ve got a 5’5 FireWire Chumlee is kinda similar to the Fling board you took out. I started out with a quad set up & it was okay... Put in AM2 medium thruster set up & it came alive! Also threw the Mark Richards 2+1 set up (on smaller surf) it was super fun! Keep ripping! Keep shining! FTD! 👊🤙💪
Cute intro dude :) From and inexperienced noob's point of view, I'd say you had more fun on the Fling. As you mentioned, it carried more speed and let you spend more time on the wave than the fish...JMHO ;) NNFTW! Cheers, John ;)
El Fisho got You working haha when talking about that board camera was getting all fogged up haha I guess You were still hot haha STOKED !!!!! EL FISHO baby!!!
" I was drinking yesterday....but I remember everything " except where the other part of your tooth is.....oh man .... big DoG.. El FishO looks sick!!!
I got tired of waiting for my BG special so I ordered an in-stock 8' Bandit, and to top it off I ordered a cruiser board from Sector9 too. I haven't skated in 40 years, but when I did I was kind of a radical. Too old for rad now so going street cruising instead on flat days and hit the waves when they're here. For the DREAM!!!! Nukin!!!
Ben your board analysis is pretty much spot in I reckon. You had more drive and flow with the fling but more flare on the el fisho when the waves allowed. Hard to compare on two different days 100%. I think try the el. Fisho as a twin as mentioned below. You clearly can surf well on whether your on plus adapt to new boards quickly. Try a thruster set up to in the fling. Anyway there's my views 🤙🤙. No surfing here currently 😱. Got the Carver so mind surfing perfect waves on the street
Yeeew sick vid big dog🤘, im lovin these daily vids, surfed both boards well for 1st surf , fling small waves n el fisho for shoulder high. Looking forward to the rest of the new quiver reviews, For the dream!
I remember the first time I rode a quad. Felt more like a skate board. Quick, snappy, pivoting turns. What surprised me most is how well it held on steep walls and tubes. Kind of looks like what you experienced. Fun.
If I heard you correctly the fling had 2 more liters of volume which will make a huge difference for carrying speed. I thought your turns looked smoother on the fish
3' @ 6 sec weak windswells, Fling's greater tail area and tail thickness is gonna shine. Juicier and it could start sliding out. Fish obviously has more sink and traction for bigger & hollower .
Yo Ben!! I recently opened an acai bowl food truck/cafe at the Jersey shore in Monmouth county! Do you have any old boards that you'd like to donate for decor?? It'd be SUPER SICK if you could sign one and write a little message for us on a board! HOPE YOU AND JORDAN ARE BEING SAFE! YEWWWW!! 🤙🤙🤙

Yyeeeewwww! For the Dream!!! 🤙🏽🌞 Diggin the Fling! Love how it cruised over more flat sections. Surf in San Diego would be perfect! Next time your out here let’s go for a sesh 🌊
Most assuredly stick #2 for conditions you were out in. Made your backhand heaps better. Fish prob'ly requires more size to respond. Cool post by the way- the opening right hander was a buzz.
Many prefer a tri on backhand: it's that center fin pushing back against the deeper heel jam. The narrow "fishy" swallow point mimics that same effect.
Ben, if you're happy with the Nintendo system purchase, which one specifically did you purchase (many to chose). And you should call the board The OFishial!
The fish is better for steeper walls. Rails seem more knify. Flings better for softer, mushier sets, closer to 50/50 rail schedule. But if i had to pick only one, the fling. It surfs everything. Growing swell Ben, too bad you couldn't be up here.
Yeah the Super Fling was looking a lot more groovy, in the mellower surf and carried speed like no ones business, getting some good waves over the next couple days but with the beach closures it’s hard to get out there because the cops are patrolling most of the areas as well, still gonna try though, can’t pass up good waves!!
Fiberglass looks good under your feet, Ben. Either way you surfed both boards very well. I personally liked you on the Experimental fish. Just because of the rail work. Although the fling may be a better smaller wave board, the fish did very comparable and would work better in bigger surf. Quad setup is cool but I would test both with a thruster setup. Yew!!
Hi Ben, I have been a long-time subscriber, but I'm actually not that interested in surfing. I respect it, but not my thing. Your vlogs when you were recovering from your knee injury and your pursuits in the aftermath of that were what drew me in. I'd love it if you brought back some of those types of videos.
thank you for riding a real board...love that you can ride a foamy but better surfing on a real board...lets see more ! review on that new quiver, because all those boards look sick
I want to see you ride the Fling all the time! Also it bugs me how almost everyone calls a Swallow tail a Fish tail. A traditional Fish board almost always has a swallow tail. That board in this vid with the Swallow tail is not a true Fish board. It may have some Fish like properties though. It’s probably more true to call it a Fish hybrid. A Fish should be best in smaller waves. Come to think of it it would be awesome to see you surf a traditional old school twin keel Fish board. I’ve been making my own boards for 30 years. Thanks rant over. Ps wide tails are amazing.
That’s true, I also definitely want to get myself a traditional fish sometime in the future, I heard their the best small wave shortie you could ever ride!
On the El Fisho, knew before you even gave the review that it worked great on the rail. Seemed very precise and clean. The El Flingo appeared less precise and a bit sloppy - more like the "skater" board. Definitely a good point though about the El Flingo allowing more flow and connecting sections on smaller waves. Great review.
That fish needs to be a 5'6" or better yet a 5'8" You look too big for it. It's clearly sinking on you. Even on the better waves. That's it. Oh...and the Nintendo looks cool.
Rebel-Yell Okay...but why? At DOH it has to be perfect shape to pick you up. So frustrating if you’re just barely out of position and the board is tiny so you can’t get in. It’s actually frustrating to watch people struggle to get and surf waves on a board that is clearly too small. Hopping around like a bunny with turrets...and then bogging when they could have smoothly made a transition. But no no...Kelly Slater loves to go small...so of course you have 180 lbs guys trying to pop up on a board the size of a child pool floaty. Wave count goes way down. Misses go way up. And the ones they get, look like they are tying to stomp a cockroach and keep missing. It’s just silly looking. But I guess if you like it. Cool.
@@torokitchencabinetsllc3577 I never do the bouncy thing, if I need speed I use what we old timers used to call the "fin driver" technique to gain speed by carving a series of short radius turns and then altering lateral trim (dipping the edges back and forth) once we got into the fast section to maintain momentum. The reason I used to ride small boards was because I was really into S turns and roller-coasters and to me these always worked best with the smallest board possible. I'm too old for all that now so I ride longer boards that float me better. Another reason I rode short boards is because I really like steep, late take-offs I guess it's the adrenaline junkie in me.
That Fling he's riding is 33 liters and Ben ain't that large. The "sinking" (aka bogging) you're seeing is all about the lack of power in the ocean. That surf is utterly gutless. Nothing to do with the board itself.

Admirable effort to be diplomatic with the sponsor's boards. The Fish was a dog. The Fling was 1000% better under your feet.
