I’m partially blind and your tutorial was spot on. This is the 2nd item I have been able to machine sew in 5 months. I wish I could send you a pic. I’m going to make one for every month. I just finished the valentines one.
love your sewing channel. 5 decades of sewing and still enjoy the beauty of fabric sewn in simple, direct manner. Your instructions and presence is perfect. While I love sewing intricate items I "vacation" often with fabric and basic sewing skills. I try to "vacation" with you at least once a week for ideas and once a month for implementing your great creative ideas. I thank you.
When it comes to sewing, it’s hard to visualize the end product for myself. You made this so simple for me and I I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart I’m gonna make some cute little Country coffee curtains with the white trim. Thank you so much miss.
Laura, I made these tonight in about one hour start to finish. They are adorable!!! Thank you so much for the instruction and pattern. I love it. They are SEW VERY EASY!!!
You are wonderful. I love your presentation style and demonstration. You speak slowly and articulate perfectly clear. I’m going to try your clever version of this curtain style. All the very best to you and thank you for sharing your passion and love of creating.
I also love that fabric print. It's so cute for a sewing room. Your tutorial was very easy to follow and understand. I love the idea of having something new to look at, by just turning the curtain around, and not having to buy more curtains.
Beautiful job !! I picked two fabrics for my kitchen valance but I wanted to make a double one so it is extra fluffy. Kind of like a curtain with a petticoat . Does that make sense? I can't find any video showing what I want so I'm not sure how to make it. If all else fails I will do it this way. I love the colors and I picked almost the same color of solid fabric as you did but found some with red and teal flower pattern for the top. My goal is a 1950's kitchen valance.
Yes, it does. I find the best way to make this curtain is to make two curtains. You will need to rods and hang them back to back, the look is beautiful :)
I have made curtains before but this much easier. Love that they are reversible! I need to make curtains for my home office, I am going to it this way. Thank you for all your great tutorials!
Adorable for your sewing room. If I don't want ruffle at top (i.e. just want a pretty much flat - no pleat topper), I would obviously have less width but also just have the rod pocket right near the top?
we just bought a new home and i was wanting to make the curtains for my sewing room. i love these. thy are quick, easy and sooo cute. i found your tutorials not to long ago and am so glad i did. i have tried several of them and haven't been disappointed yet ! thank you very much for all the great information and keep it coming.
we recently re did my daughters room and when it came time for the curtain i decided to make this into a single panel window length panel (daughter does not like two panels on her window) She loves it. Thank you for the great idea
Thank you so much. Awesome and simple and easy way of stitching. But it looks beautiful gives an awesome look when you enter the house and your observations first goes on the curtains. Thanks a lot and got bless you.
Laura, I watch mostly all your turorials but this one really hit home......have 8 windows in my sewing room, and always looking for quick and easy ways to change up the look when seasons change, you have given me the answer, very cute and quick curtains....LOVE LOVE LOVE them, thanks for your great tutorials, from one of your hugh fans
Laura, your tutorials are awesome! Video and audio quality is great. You speak clearly, and explain the technique start to finish in a manner that easy to understand no matter what your skill level is! Love your videos!!
Did you leave it open because it will pucker if you sew them shut? I would like to use your wonderful tutorial, but sew longer curtains and was thinking I could use bias tape along the sides, but worried it won’t hang flat... any advice!? Should I just leave it open?
So if I have a bank of 3 Windows together, I would buy 6 yards? I noticed that after you turned the tube to the right side you have the green solid side pulled down some inches on the print side, from which you measure up 4 in . How many inches do you have the green solid fabric pulled down on the print side? Thank you for this video showing us how to make adorable valances for our own windows. it looks pretty easy.
Lovely! I was going to make a one sided short curtain for both my 2 kitchen windows, but now I'll be making a couple of these reversible short curtains. Thanks for sharing.
I am making a reversible kids curtain for my friends motor home. A girl and boy, they are taking turns sharing the upper bunk and whose turn it is will get there special pattern on the window. Thanks so much for the tutorial!
This is perfect. I was wanting to make new curtains and I have always bought my curtains because I didn’t know how to sew. I’m looking forward to it after seeing your tutorial. I love your fabric choices. Thank you for sharing!
Amaaaazing 🙌🙌 So simple! Got my first ever sewing machine for Christmas and would LOVE to make new curtains for my campervan, couldn't think of an easy way to make them double sided, this video is all the inspiration I needed thank you so much! 💕
Hi Laura , I really enjoyed your wonderful teaching. I managed to sew my reversible kitchen top and looks so beautiful. Continue to do the great job that you are doing. Thank you.
I love your videos. I am just learning how to sew. And your instructions are clear and easy to understand. The project's are easy, and i am inspired to sew thank so much for sharing your videos.
Do you have a home page that people could post their pictures? I just made easy these are so darn cute! Thank you very much for another great tutorial!
I chose two different color fabrics however, one fabric is more translucid than the other one, and where the two layers of translucid fabric meet, the light entering the room makes the fabric look distorted. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? Thank you and Great tutorial!
I love this idea, but I am not sure it will work for the print I have in mind. I want to do a vineyard theme, with wine bottles that are sitting on a shelf, wouldn't part of the print then be upside down? please advise, Thanks !!
It’s not difficult at all! I want to do it for me sewing room. The only thing is that I clicked on the sewing tools link but they don’t show it. I searched for it in the different categories and no luck. If you have another way of getting it please let me know. Thanks
You are very beautiful, love the silver hair. I am growing my hair out, hopefully it will be like yours. Anyway, I am making the same curtains with red and white polka dot, bottom part coke cola material for my kitchen. Thanks for the tutorial..:)
This was a great video. I modified the measurements for a smaller window but they look so cute!! Hopefully my sister-in-love likes them, they're a birthday gift for her.
I love all your projects. It would be lovely to be able to print out instructions of some sort. On some projects a list of fabric quantity would helpful.
Just curious - you said that you bought 2 yards of each of the 2 fabrics. You used 18" from each to create one curtain topper. What did you need the other 54"s (from each fabric) for?
+SewVeryEasy :-) Ahhhh - makes sense now. I thought the fabric was the standard 42" - 44" width. Gotcha! Thanks so much - I love, love, love your videos!
Beautiful job, I love the curtains, looks so easy. And I was so happy to see you using your vintage Singer class 15 machine. What model is your machine if I may ask? Does it have a belt or a potted motor? If it has the potted motor, it is a very nice machine. I have a lot of vintage machines, A Singer 15-88 it is a treadle with the brown medal frame, and I have a Singer 66 both are black with gold decals, a Singer 201-2, Singer featherweight, 2- Singer 301's, A Singer 27 treadle machine, and many more. I have watched all of your tutorials and have enjoyed everyone of them, but when I saw you using your vintage gal in this one my heart was so happy. You are a very talented lady, thank you for sharing this tutorial I will use it soon.
Super cute. I want to do two 40" windows. Your description says it will make 4 toppers, but two are needed to complete one "valance" so that they are reversible, is that correct? And for one window, would you use two 'valances' to make it appear full? or would one valance complete one window? Just trying to figure out how many yards to buy.
So if I understand this right, you have 4 lined panels of 54 inches long because your fabric is 54" wide to begin with. In the end, you have 4 panels but, if my window is only 60" and I have 216" of curtain (54 X 4), wouldn't that be too full? Thank you!
+Shari Roy a general rule for curtains is two to three times the width. In this case I would go 60 x 2=120" give or take a few inches:) hope this helps:)
Chrissy Oldfield Go to ttfabrics.com/fabric/sewing-tools-2/ and at the top of the page there is a search button "where to buy". I hope this helps. Thanks for watching
Thank you for showing me the best way to make curtains for my grandsons bedroom, he likes to switch things around in his dinosaur bedroom, perfect option!

kitchencookable Good morning it was "sew" nice meeting you too. And yes I still sew on my old machines as well as my newer ones...just something about the way the machine hummmmmms. Glad you like the curtains, have a great day
I just love your tutorials. I need to make curtains for my living room. they need to be lined too, wall to wall and floor to ceiling; I thought you may have a new hack that would make them easier, lol
+Sai Vang 2 yds of each would be good, because you are cutting each piece in half to start with. So you would have two strips at 72" x 22" of each fabric.

+gabbyg561 Thank you, I have them on my window and love them each time I look out the widow. Glad you like them
How wide are the windows you are working with? Wondering if you could share as the amount of fabric will change accordingly. TY for a great tutorial!
I just made some of these curtains for my kitchen. I love them! Thanks for showing us how to do it the “sew” easy way 😊
I made Christmas valances for my kitchen windows following Laura's tutorial. They indeed were easy, and they turned out so cute. 😊

As a beginner and a new sewing machine, needed help making my own valances for bedroom, I've been looking for a tutorial, thanks again, will be back
+Vickie Shrewsbury Glad I could help and thanks for watching
Did you measure your curtain to determine how many yards of fabric. That's how I've done it. But if I don't have to, that would be great! Thanks
Thank you so much Laura you are a great teacher. Love making these curtains. Easy for beginners
Nice. This was a great video. Could you do another video tutorial making a straight valance? Or do you have a suggested pattern?
we recently re did my daughters room and when it came time for the curtain i decided to make this into a single panel window length panel (daughter does not like two panels on her window) She loves it. Thank you for the great idea
Jammie Pennebaker Yah!!! sew glad I could help:)
I made these a few years ago and they are still my favorite curtains! Thank you so much!
Hi Laura, do you have a video for making a rod pocket shower curtain?
Did you change to bobbin thread color for rod pocket or stitch on the ditch?
Hello!!!
How do you take 2 sheers curtains and make them look like that balloon Valencia look?
Thank you so much. Awesome and simple and easy way of stitching. But it looks beautiful gives an awesome look when you enter the house and your observations first goes on the curtains. Thanks a lot and got bless you.

M Gibson Thanks M, I'm so happy this will solve the problem. Thank you for joining along, and have a great day:)
Hi Laura, Why is it important to remove the selvage if you are making curtains; especially if it will be a seam or part of a seam? Just wondering.
Laura, your tutorials are awesome! Video and audio quality is great. You speak clearly, and explain the technique start to finish in a manner that easy to understand no matter what your skill level is! Love your videos!!
Thank you so much!
I love the tutorial, but have a question. what do you do on the two short ends to close the 'tube' off? Thanks!
you can hand stitch them closed but I found you just don't see them
Did you leave it open because it will pucker if you sew them shut? I would like to use your wonderful tutorial, but sew longer curtains and was thinking I could use bias tape along the sides, but worried it won’t hang flat... any advice!? Should I just leave it open?

Great Tutorial, never would have thought this. Always love your fabric. Thanks for sharing. You have such a calming voice.

Rolled hem...did you still have the rights sizes together or turned the tube so right sides are out?
right sides together :)
I love this idea, but I am not sure it will work for the print I have in mind. I want to do a vineyard theme, with wine bottles that are sitting on a shelf, wouldn't part of the print then be upside down? please advise, Thanks !!
yes your wine is going to pour out of those bottles lol perhaps you can just sew the rod space right at the top and do not have the other side showing
It’s not difficult at all! I want to do it for me sewing room. The only thing is that I clicked on the sewing tools link but they don’t show it. I searched for it in the different categories and no luck. If you have another way of getting it please let me know. Thanks

I love all your projects. It would be lovely to be able to print out instructions of some sort. On some projects a list of fabric quantity would helpful.
+BETTY FARIA I will see what I can do, thanks for asking
Just curious - you said that you bought 2 yards of each of the 2 fabrics. You used 18" from each to create one curtain topper. What did you need the other 54"s (from each fabric) for?
+Kathy Woolard the fabric was cut 18" by the 54" . That way; I had one long piece with no center seam. Hope that helps:)
+SewVeryEasy :-) Ahhhh - makes sense now. I thought the fabric was the standard 42" - 44" width. Gotcha! Thanks so much - I love, love, love your videos!
I just adore you, you're my fav sewing teacher! I have learned "sew very" much from you...thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Hey Laura! It's me! Your videos make me think it's just that easy! I may have to pull out the sewing machine and take a trip to fabricland! Love it!
when you have pressed the fabric on top to have the ditch did you sew over it? i dont understand that part
I'm not sure what part you mean, can you give me the time:) thanks

where do you order your fabric?

Thank you! What a great tutorial!
how many yards would i need if my window is 52 1/2?
+Sai Vang 2 yds of each would be good, because you are cutting each piece in half to start with. So you would have two strips at 72" x 22" of each fabric.
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO. LOOKING FORWARD TO PULLING MY SEWING MACHINE OUT FROM MY CLOSET AND MADING A SET OF SPRING CURTAIN,
Thanks, I just made some curtains using your technique, they came out great.
+GeorgianNights That makes me happy to hear:) I'm glad you like the pattern:)
