Speaking on a technicality, this is the first game I played and finished on my own PS1. The memories, man. The game kept so many things a secret from the player, except the bare essentials, but it made discovering new things such a delight! Even evolution having an hidden system was exciting (until I started actually targeting specific mons to complete the chart). And seeing the city grow as you cover more ground and get new recruits? Always had me going back to the city to check what's new. Such a charming game this was, and I'm glad you covered it here~ You did a very good job with this monster of a vid, Frap!
I love this game. I loved it as a child when I couldn't even progress past the first few areas and love it now that I'm 27 and I replayed it a lot of times.
I would pull your videos up every now and again. I enjoyed your Funger challenges and such...But this...This bit of my childhood. this is what made me hit the subscribe and notification button finally. I'd love to see more random content and bits from the past.
I remember renting this game from Blockbuster as a kid, and I loved the show no matter how bad it was. Still have the original game guide lol. Watching this as my grandfather is dying in the hospital, needed the gentle reminder of simpler times. The pauses on in game menus to hear the music long forgotten, again a reminder to appreciate the little things.
I just noticed how big of a difference it makes using items in battle after rewatching guide to nerdhood's numemon challenge. Also, thank you once again for giving me a fresh perspective on this game by showing all the cool digivolutions. Guide to nerdhood talked about it in his challenge video but as someone who started with digimon world 2 it didn't hit me how cool all these little details were until it was actually shown to me.
It is a surprise to see one of my favorite fear and hunger content creator would play a game that I used to play when I was a kid. Funny thing is, I've been looking at speedrunners of digimon world 1 to 3 and to now see this; God bless Frapollo.
You used to play this without a memory card?! Man that shocked me. Not sure I would have been able to do that even as a kid. Gotta say I loved this video! It's very clear how much of a nostalgic treasure this game is for you and it's so cool to see you consider all possibilities the game presents to you to make the most strategic moves. I had this game as a kid too and while it wasn't really what I hoped it would be when I bought it (basically pokemon but with cooler monsters and better graphics) but I learned to appreciate and love it for what it was. I also started the game up just to listen to the File City night theme many times back then.
Me too actually, my ps1 memory card was faulty. Saves usually corrupted. So I basically self-taught myself how to speedrun it in about 6 hours. No guides; just... figure out how to get Andromon and clear the game in 2 lifespans.
I was not expecting a DW video from you at all. This was one of my first games for the PSX and I already loved Digimon Adventure at that time. I went back to this game many times, as during my childhood I didn't understand English that well. When I played a Spanish version, we faced the same Agumon bug. After a lot of time, and understanding English, I was able to make a full basic run of the game. I have completed the English and Japanese versions to 100 prosperity, though I don't have the save file for the first one, and the second one got corrupted (playable, but the prosperity value is bugged to around 30 iirc). I've never finished the game to 100% (gaining all medals), even if I did a lot of progress on the JP save, but I guess is never to late to try it again... from the very beginning. This videos was a blast from beginning to end, really loved it. Thank you for this amazing content! As an extra, you may find it interesting to check the game project "Digital Monster: Net Driver" from Alice Studios, a great fan-game project :)
I remember playing this game as a kid, i sometimes wish i could see that old part of me as a kid, the one who would open the game not even having a plan, i never even digivolved my digimon, but i still hold this game close to my heart, its my favorite game, from my favorite franchise. Thank you for the trip down memory lane!❤❤❤
Loved this video!! Watched it in one sitting! Heard the digimon mention on the other video and just needed the check it out. Loved the appreciation for the music. the commentary, the tension, the editing, EVERYTHING! I hope to see more of these random videos of stuff you're passionate about!!
Thank you for putting alot of work into this amazing video, as someone who has never played digimon you immediately hooked me and made me feel as if I were experiencing the journey with you and for that I am very thankful.
This was such a joy to watch! Just like you I grew up with Digimon World yet I never got far in it as a child. Last year I started my adventure of completing this game and it was magical. I'm 30 years old and have been gaming a lot but completing this game was one of my favourite experiences ever. It was lovely to re-experience this with you. Your narration and pacing of the video was so well crafted that I couldn't stop watching. I'd love to see more of these!
This game brings back so many memories. I remember when I got Agumon to evolve into Greymon, it felt so magical. Couldnt replicate it ever again (kept getting Numemon) but I'll never forget that moment. One of my favorite childhood games for sure, thanks for the amazing video!
Frappolo, keep cooking I have long loved your fear and hunger videos and It makes me happy seeing you branch out! The 100 days experience like this is actually the most interesting way I've seen it around RUclips!
I never knew what Digimon was exactly before this video, I thought it was just a strange Pokemon ripoff. So I've been enlightened, probably still will never play it lol.(Omg you changed your channel background that art is so cool!)
Huh, that was great. I remember playing this a long long time ago. I even recalled it less than a week ago and figured I'd look up a video on it but didn't get around to it, then saw this in my feed. Thanks Frapollo!

I love, LOVE digimon world saga, unfortunaly i only played the ps2 one (Digimon World 4) but i got so invested and happy in the game, going foward, discovering digievolutions, it was so cool in my childhood, the liberty, the choices, the ways, the secret you discover in each of those games are awesome. It was refreshing for me watching this and giving me a taste of what is the World 1, thanks for the video Frap and Ollo < 3
Thank you for bringing me a very lovely hit of nostalgia. And both my brother and i did manage as kids to digivolve into Giromon our very first ultimate lvl. The ecstasy we felt was unbelievable. Please do make more content like this, it was really an amazing experience. Thank you again ❤

Absolutely great video. You brought me back to my childhood and explained why I never was able to finish this game as I had the PAL version as well. I'm going to be replaying this game thanks to you
Oh man...Digimon was one of my HUGE obsessions growing up! Never played this game, though - I'm one of those kids who got into the anime (Adventure 01) before realizing there even WERE games. You have no idea how many times I went "Oh, so THAT'S where that thing in the show came from!" while watching this video, you did a great job of making it all compelling and interesting. Keep being awesome!
Found you as I have had a nostalgia trip for the original Digimon World and I have never even seen half of the game you showed off as I played this as a kid... I am now digging out my PS2 and copy of the game for the weekend
You cannot fathom the joy I felt when this popped up on my feed. My all time fav childhood game + your high energy commentary just tingles my jimmies Keep up the good work!
Ohhh, that was clearly a very sweet blast to the past for you, and it definitely flows into the passion of the video, great stuff! It does remind me of my inability to progress past certain bits of Digimon World 3 as a child, so I'd love to see that tackled, or maybe New Order?
Frapollo video about Digimon? HELL YEAH! I', always in for Digimon appreciation! This was the FIRST PS1 Game I emulated when I was late Teen, but didn't go too far!
Looks like Frapollo had one hell of a good time playing Digimon World! Damn, I would love to watch him play Digimon World Re;digitize Decode, which is the direct sequel that improves on everything.

This sure brings back memories. One of the first games I've ever played and still one of my favorites. Loved the video, thank you so much for two hours of pure delight! ♥
I remember led this game be way easier. But then I also remembered when I played it my ps1 copy had cheats on it you could enable and I had max stats on all the time lol. I love this game though such a big part of my childhood thanks for bringing bringing me back to those days.
Hey! Really loved the video, keep up the good work! Only one note: You should consider to add a counter of the day you are on in the video, so if one forgets on what day of the challenge you are on they can just check the corner of the video to see the number. Also-Also, if you plan on doing more videos with this aspect ratio you could consider to maybe add something on both sides to fill in the black bars. Not required mind you, just a consideration
Absolutely loved this nostalgia trip. I had an obsession with Digimon World 2 as a kid and would borrow it from a friend all the time. Unfortunately one day they lent it and it was super scratched and wouldn't load past the tutorial area. I'm very open and up for more digimon content!
Oh my god, the "no memory card" hit so close to home. I played PS1 games without one for SO long, like it was a Sega or something (at least those sometimes had level passwords). When I finally got one, I was the cool kid in the block.
This was awesome as a completely new viewer that has just come across your channel from recommended. This was by and large my most favorite game of the playstation next to things like Legend of Dragoon. The enthusiasm that was genuinely felt through the game was an awesome nostalgia trip. Definitely subbing for more.

Amazing - I’ve been on a Digimon World hype and behold: Frapp uploads a nearly 2 hour video. This game goes under so many radars & it’s wonderful. I’m not even 5 minutes in and I know it’s going to be a great video!
Frappy my man, I'm loving your newer content where you branch out into other games and new styles I'm a massive fear and hunger fan and your videos were the best on the platform but I've seen so many channels pigeonhole themselves into one thing and fail to adapt, it's wonderful to see you thrive throughout the transition Love ya dude, youre probably my favourite personality on RUclips and I wish you nothing but the best :)
It is kind of amazing how ambitious this game was. It's turning what is essentially a tamagotchi for boys into an open world RPG. And it's held together by duct tape and a wish. And the duct tape got even more unravelled by the translation. And this was *early* PS1. Most companies were still learning how to even make games for this thing. Also, my PS1 memory card was faulty. So I actually had to single-segment this game on my PS2 as a kid. I essencially had to learn how to speedrun this game myself within about 6 hours. I discovered how to get Agumon -> Centarumon -> Andromon and rush through the game with that.
Absolutely banger video! I would love to see more from you beyond just Funger content! It sounded like you were really into this and the emotions came through in your dialogue!
I'm having an incredibly rough day Frapollo and this popped up in my feed, I just want to say thank you for uploading this and I absolutely have the same nostalgia/love for this game. I have a nice dinner and I can't wait to enjoy it. And if you don't know, they did "remake" this game a couple of times one on PSP and then the one on Steam called New Order. @@frapollo94 I was thinking about how banger of a sound-track this game had before you mentioned it in your video. Everything sound design wise from this game is so nostalgic to me. "Go manually from the tunnel, outside, deposit the dirt, GO BACK, get more, deposit the dirt ... ... ... GO BACK!" What a mood. I love this goofy game.
I remember reading in a gaming magazine that the PAL version was soft locked from Ogremon's questlines, and henceforth Whamon's sea travel... Being set in France, I was soooo maaaaaaad. Glad we share that frustration haha
Dangit, Frapollo! You've successfully made me feel old (and replay this gem of a classic game) - Edit - On the Greymon and street sign part, I think it's a reference to "Dojo Yaburi". Basically, it's like when a martial artist goes around challenging dojos. If the dojo loses, they must take their dojo name placard/sign down, and the winner takes it. In a way, it signifies that the dojo isn't worthy of its name. If the dojo wins, well, let's just say that the challenger would look like a bowl of porridge (and only able eat that for a good while too)
If you like digimon the "Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth" series was brilliant! I spent hours playing it to 100% and I think you would also enjoy it! :) Great vid as always Frapollo, keep going!

I wasn't expecting the True God of Fear and Hunger when I saw Digimon but I loved this!
I love this game. I loved it as a child when I couldn't even progress past the first few areas and love it now that I'm 27 and I replayed it a lot of times.
Same here as a kid, would love to play it and actually progress! How do you play it nowadays?!
I would pull your videos up every now and again. I enjoyed your Funger challenges and such...But this...This bit of my childhood. this is what made me hit the subscribe and notification button finally. I'd love to see more random content and bits from the past.
You may get them eventually! My nostalgia phase is probably not over
I remember renting this game from Blockbuster as a kid, and I loved the show no matter how bad it was.
Nostalgia overdose. I love this video and enjoyed every single minute of it. Thank you
Thanks to you for the support!
It is a surprise to see one of my favorite fear and hunger content creator would play a game that I used to play when I was a kid. Funny thing is, I've been looking at speedrunners of digimon world 1 to 3 and to now see this; God bless Frapollo.
This is the best video to come home to after two days of rain and mud, already looks amazing
Hope you'll like it!!
@@frapollo94 oh I'm sure I will
You used to play this without a memory card?!
Those good old times will never come back, but their memory lives rent free in our heart
Merry Christmas Frappllo94! 🎄🎁
The video game masochism started early.
It never stopped
The actual masochism lies in Digimon World 2
@@zealous404well, this is true-But I feel Digimon World 1 is a solid jumping off point XD
Loved this video!! Watched it in one sitting! Heard the digimon mention on the other video and just needed the check it out. Loved the appreciation for the music. the commentary, the tension, the editing, EVERYTHING!
I hope to see more of these random videos of stuff you're passionate about!!
Frapollo really out here dropping a movie...While I just got back into Digimon!
Thank you for putting alot of work into this amazing video, as someone who has never played digimon you immediately hooked me and made me feel as if I were experiencing the journey with you and for that I am very thankful.
Going into the final boss while your Digimon had to take a shit is upsetting to me
Sometimes the greatest burdens are what gives you strenght!
Love this, thanks for the video Frapollo! Been a real treat watching you in Connor's video and now here
Frapollo for April fools day you should do a stream only in Italian
And eat pineapple pizza
@@frapollo94 ya, you get it
Oh yes!
Presidential masterpiece ✨
This game brings back so many memories. I remember when I got Agumon to evolve into Greymon, it felt so magical. Couldnt replicate it ever again (kept getting Numemon) but I'll never forget that moment. One of my favorite childhood games for sure, thanks for the amazing video!
2 hours of frap? Christmas came early
Oh no you reminded I have to prepare a christmas video...
Frapollo " the street sign " thing is literally " greymon wants the sign of your "dojo" " like schools of martial arts supossedly did while challenging another dojo
I bought this game when I was 11, have played it many many many times over 24 years. Seeing this pop up in my recommended was certainly a surprise. Good stuff Frap!
Yeaaaa um kingdom rush when
STOP MENTIONING KINDGOM RUSH
No i will mention it until you play it
No i will mention it until you play it
I love, LOVE digimon world saga, unfortunaly i only played the ps2 one (Digimon World 4) but i got so invested and happy in the game, going foward, discovering digievolutions, it was so cool in my childhood, the liberty, the choices, the ways, the secret you discover in each of those games are awesome.
Wow giromon as a kid is a fantastic achievement!
My all time fav childhood game + your high energy commentary just tingles my jimmies
Keep up the good work!
Ohhh, that was clearly a very sweet blast to the past for you, and it definitely flows into the passion of the video, great stuff! It does remind me of my inability to progress past certain bits of Digimon World 3 as a child, so I'd love to see that tackled, or maybe New Order?
Seeing Frapollo talk about his childhood game is probably the most wholesome thing on this channel and I'm here for it.
The second best run of digimon world, just behind "Super-Jueves". I started watching your FnH and ended watching all your chanel, love you Frapollo
I have never seen your videos before, but this was a joy to watch. Your accent is very pleasant to listen to. Would love to see more stuff like this! ^^
Came to Frapollo for Fear & Hunger Videos, Stayed for some of the most amazing gaming content on RUclips! Keep it up!
OMG! I just saw this and got so hyped. Frapollo and the OG Digimon World. Say no more, I am here!
Thanks!
@@frapollo94 if you would consider it, give Digimon World: Next Order a shot in whatever format you'd like. I'd love to know what your thoughts about it are in comparison to DW1.
This game was my childhood, so seeing a 2h video on it from one of my new favorite youtubers absolutely made my night ♡
Thank you so much for this wonderful challenge playthrough - there were so many great moments in it, I loved every second!
Thanks!
I have so many fond memories of Digimon World, I will never forget playing this game with my lil brother as kids and him being right next to me yelling at the screen "Numemon! Numemon! Numemon!!!!" whenever my Rookie Digimon was about to evolve, only for his chanting to work and me getting so mad about it lol Only to discover the Monzaemon digi-evolution in toy town by complete chance!
This game was and still is truly magical.
Thanks for the amazing video.
Loved the video Frappy!
One of my favorite childhood games as well :S
More videos plz!
I had never heard of this game before, but it was great seeing your passion for it.
Also yes music in these games are always great. The old PS games I'd always play were the Scooby doo ones, and the soundtrack from Unmasked is still on some of my playlists to this day
Ahh yes, i remember this game as a kid, having no clue wtf i was doing but still loving it, nice to see a video of it showing waaaay more than i have ever seen.
I too loved it despite not knowing what I was doing, also because as a kid I never read dialogues!
Amazing - I’ve been on a Digimon World hype and behold: Frapp uploads a nearly 2 hour video. This game goes under so many radars & it’s wonderful. I’m not even 5 minutes in and I know it’s going to be a great video!
Awwww hope you'll like it!
I loved this video. I played Digimon World as a kid and watching this was extremely nostalgic. Hope to see more video like this one in the future.
Frappy my man, I'm loving your newer content where you branch out into other games and new styles
I'm a massive fear and hunger fan and your videos were the best on the platform but I've seen so many channels pigeonhole themselves into one thing and fail to adapt, it's wonderful to see you thrive throughout the transition
Love ya dude, youre probably my favourite personality on RUclips and I wish you nothing but the best :)
Awww thank you so much!
I don't know if you might have plans for it or want to see it happen all over again, but if you can check em out :) would love to see you play them.
EDIT: 1:24:07 You absolutely know I'm loving this, and I will be finishing it soon I'm engrossed in this lol
25:20 that no saving hit me too hard bro but for me it was one of the sonic riders game and it didn't want to save and I remember repeating this one annoying stage over and over too
I was more of a Pokemon and fossil fighters kid, but I can feel and appriciate others' nostolgia. So peak.
EEEEEEEVIL AGUMON! he.... he runs the bank. What's more evil than that?
I saw you liked digimon cards in one of your streams, but it’s awesome to see you play one of the games!!! I know the more modern ones probably aren’t your style, but I hope to see you play more digimon sometime, even if it’s just more of this one!
Loved the video!! I'm not into Digimon, but that was super entertaining. I started this video yesterday evening right before I got to bed, so I got a dream about digimon that night lmao...
Keep on doing content you enjoy, I love all of it!!💖💖
Honestly this is now my new favorite video talking about this game, and as a Digimon fan who sadly never grew up with this game, it makes me really wish I had a way to play it for myself without needing to emulate.
The fact you didn't have the game for ps1 as a kid means your parents loved you!
Definitely want to see you do more. Your content and your personality are just kinda refreshing.
This video was freaking Aweosme . I was having a terrible day and this gave me so much fun. Thank you
I watched the Connor streams you participated, but for some reason didn't think you might had a YT channel, until I was recommended this video. Glad to subscribe, even more with you making a video about my favorite game. Very nice video.
I love your fear and hunger content and your collabs with Connor. To my shock, you are playing a game that was very near and dear to my heart in my early childhood that NO ONE else I know has any experience with. I look forward to watching this video.
Broooo same, none of my (already few) friends ever played this whenever I asked!
@@frapollo94 I was thinking about how banger of a sound-track this game had before you mentioned it in your video. Everything sound design wise from this game is so nostalgic to me. I could go 20 years without playing or thinking about this game, and my brain will start playing the city song before the screen loads in.
I just may have to bust out my coveted copy of the game now and restart my own journey in the digital world. It'll be hard since I think I last had a pretty sizable chunk of the city established. May the gym grinding begin once again!! Thanks for the content and the feels!!
i really enjoyed this type of video ^^ more of a story then just gameplay and stuf, still a challenge but with a narritive flow, very captivating looking forward to more :D
Great video. I was never able to complete this game as a child and I think I can finally have some closure on what I didn't achieve with this, always having a nagging want to return and give it another go. I really don't think I could've done all that you had to do to get to the end. So it's good to finally see some of the secrets that I could never uncover on my own. Good job!
It really is one of those very unique and cool games from the PS1 I think flew most people by.
I definately think you should make more videos like this!
Thanks buddy! Who knows, if this video goes well or if I get the inspiration digimon world 3 or other digimon games may come too!
@@frapollo94 Just go for games that interest you would be my suggestion!
Honestly it was a really fun video! Keep making the stuff you enjoy and it will show through
I had been getting back into digimon recently, remembering my own childhood stuff. And then ya release this! Man it makes me happy to see others with childhood memories of digimon lol. (Digimon World Championship was my first)
Yooo championship was goated
@frapollo94 Yoo! For once, I meet another fan of that game! :D
"Go manually from the tunnel, outside, deposit the dirt, GO BACK, get more, deposit the dirt ... ... ... GO BACK!"
What a mood. I love this goofy game.
Thanks for this Frap. I also loved this game as a kid and this video is so nostalgic! Awesome!
I remember reading in a gaming magazine that the PAL version was soft locked from Ogremon's questlines, and henceforth Whamon's sea travel...
Being set in France, I was soooo maaaaaaad. Glad we share that frustration haha
Dangit, Frapollo! You've successfully made me feel old (and replay this gem of a classic game)
- Edit -
On the Greymon and street sign part, I think it's a reference to "Dojo Yaburi".
:) Great vid as always Frapollo, keep going!
ive never seen this game before but its really nice to see you make an entertaining video about it and reach a wider audience
1:06:57 That's crazy. What are the odds lmao
Fantastic video, Frap!
As a long time dmw1 fan loved every second of it well done hope you enjoyed it
Omg I love this so much.... This is my childhood game haha. Please do make more such videos, I love it!!
On a side note... have you ever played Digimon Digital Card Battle? It's Digimon... with CARD GAMES! I used to play that a lot as a child too, haha.
The video game not for now! I have real cards, but never been able to put my hands on the one for ps1
@@frapollo94 If you can, maybe try the video game one day, I feel like you will like it, haha.
