(I've only seen the movie once, so those were the two that were most obvious, don't kill me, lol). Not sure what events they were; nothing in that flash montage stood out, but I'm sure the images were intended to say that Dreykov had his hands in many geo-political affairs, just showing how truly powerful he was.
      They did the same with Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes, showing him at pivotal scenes in human history, namely, American history. Zola showed Cap and Nat things like the assassination of JFK, intimating that the Winter Soldier was the one who took Kennedy out, not Lee Harvey Oswald, as history tells us.
      EDIT: I just slowed down the last 3rd of this video, to .25 speed. Additional players I caught were Jimmy Carter, 39th U.S. President; Boris Yeltsin, first and former Russian President; Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State under "W" (George "W" Bush). There was a Saudi leader at one point, but I couldn't tell who. As far as what "events" these were, I don't recognize any of the photos, and, without knowing who Dreykov was superimposed over, it's even harder to guess. But I'd be surprised if the images, the ORIGINAL images, weren't real. Condi looks like she's sitting in the White House, there. Just need/want to know who the "suit" was, next to her. 🤔

    The connections to real life human trafficking are undeniable. I wish they played into this more in the actual movie. If Marvel wasn’t so glued to their campy-comedic style they could portray some really dark, yet contemporarily relevant stories. Human trafficking and the women/child sex trade isn’t talked about nearly enough in the media. Marvel could have done such an incredibly meaningful story.

      @@cryo4808 I definitely think they could. But obviously a darker film would get an R rating, which would limit the audience; therefore, cutting the amount of money Disney rakes in, so I doubt they’d ever do it. The mouse would rather get a few extra million than make a meaningful story, which is fair I suppose. That’s the name of the game.

    • @GhostInPajamas
      @GhostInPajamas 3 года назад +8

      @@ryanjstannard why do you say the story wasn’t meaningful? It’s about these girls that are trafficked as children and Natasha and Yelena end up getting the guy behind it all and freeing the girls who’s lives were stolen by him. They couldn’t show the really dark and graphic side of it because it’s still marvel, but the meaning and implications are there ya know?

    • @ryanjstannard
      @ryanjstannard 3 года назад +10

      @@GhostInPajamas Yes the original story was meaningful to a degree. The main story about Natasha and Yelena’s childhood being fake/Natasha leaving Yelena behind was sad, but the fact that they were kidnapped and brainwashed against their will is much more horrifying. I really think it could have been even more meaningful if they’d leaned into those darker story components. Especially, since young girls are actually taken against their will and trafficked in real life. They only really touched on that a couple of times in the movie, one of which being the brief opening segment. But I understand that Marvel can’t necessarily make a darker movie because they’re owned by Disney. Disney is all about the money, and obviously an R-rated Marvel movie limits the audience. It’s a shame that they care more about money than to make a contemporarily relevant story, but I guess that’s just business. Hopefully that changes one day.

    Oh my goodness, this scene was soo well done. I was so shocked and taken aback the first time I saw it; it felt so raw and haunting and _so_ unlike usual Marvel. I got goosebumps and felt like crying for some reason? It felt so real because in a lot of movies with “kids”, the actors usually aren’t really kids, and it doesn’t feel so horrible because it feels like you’re just watching adults, so seeing actual children was crazy

    The opening credits were so chilling and absolutely terrifying, you can feel the fear and hopelessness in the little girls screams and cries. You are able to see the reach and impact the Widows and Dreykov have on the world. We only see glimpses of the horrors the girls endured and its just captivates you as the audience. When i watched this in theaters and when i see other people react to this movie its always the same look of shock and horror and in the women its fear because this actually happens in real life, not the assassin part, but the Trafficking is a very real and scary issue. By far my favorite movie intro of all time.

    (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE)-
    People feel angry about the Taskmaster thing, so let me give MY insight. I believe the idea to make TM Draykov’s Daughter was genius.
    This movie is about Natasha dealing with her past and the mistakes she made. For her, the biggest mistake was using her as collateral. But then, she sees her again, burned and angry, and it all comes flooding back. She has to deal with the trauma right then and there.
    And finally, she makes amends with her, telling her that it’s finally over, and Draykov is dead. Finally, the two girls have reconciled, and Natasha has made amends with her other family. Finally, she can do what she feels is right for the world, and not have any regrets.

    When I saw the credit opening, I couldn't stop but think that this is the most powerful and emotional feeling I felt. This song somewhat represents Natasha's and Yelena's lives being ruined by the Red Room Program while Melina and Alexei did nothing to stop them since Melina didn't have a choice while Alexei didn't know that he would lose everything to him.
    It's sad but this is the harsh reality of the Black Widows and every little girl who was emotionally torture in there. This song for me, tells the story of a kind girl who had everything unlit one tragic event, took everything from her. She's emotionally hurt and blaming her for her traumatic event as she becomes this strong yet cold person. She's now seeing herself as the case of her suffering and what has she become, a monster
