I know Vibeke's vocals are hard to replace, and I know the sound of the band makes it clear that they are nothing of what they were when Mortem and Vibeke were members of it, but if you listen to the new record you'll see that they are still GREAT. I don't have a problem with Mariangela, I think she's really good and has a style of her own, and I don't hear her versions of old songs like something that destroys the original ones. She can sing both, the new and old songs.
i'm genuinely surprised how Kjetil sounds exactly like Østen, Anders sounds exactly like Morten, and Mariangela can sing. this is tons better than the pop rock singing she did in the rehearsal video
am i the only one who never stopped liking their music? i mean really, literally the whole shoutbox is whining so miserably about how they want the 'gawfick' tristania back. "bring back with velvet corsets and dried roses! bring back sleazy morten with his sleazy goatee and goth shirt and his inability to find musical inspirtation in anything except x-ray dog's trailer music!"
This wasn't a terrible version, but so many members have come and gone that this band struggles with the old songs and they really don't know what they should be anymore. After the Morten Veland years this band struggled; however, World of Glass is still a quality album, but by Ashes they lost everything beautiful about the band.
morten could never have written something like Ashes (most goths unsurprisingly fail to feel how beautiful that album is). sure he had a knack for lyrics and atmosphere, but he's an egomaniac who keeps repeating his music. just look at how quickly Sirenia failed.. and look at what he named his new band..

well, they'll be different, that's right. but they already made 2 albums different from the old era; and morten veland is one of the most overrated musicians ever. ashes beats the previous albums 100 times, TECHNICAL-WISE. on the rockier songs of illumination, mary does a wonderful job, in my opinion. and also when she must do more operatic parts, she has a good falsetto. and anyway she has a powerful like hell voice! unlike some other famous replacing singer...haha ;)
It´s a shame that the best songs were created by Morten Veland... so the two first albums are the best, the others are medium... Vibeke is not in the band, so tristania is not a good band anymore... hahaha, I Prefer Sirenia 100%
It seems to me a lack of respect for the previous group, which was the true tristania, that they played this song badly. I love Angellore, I love classic tristania, it seems to me one of the best bands, if not the best of gothic metal. But you guys screwed up on what is probably my favorite song. The second part of Angellore does not have that letter, nor that rhythm. It's pathetic that they played a song like that that literally put you on stage. But it doesn't matter, the Tristania logo that appears in the background is not the logo of the real Tristania.
no doubt she's smoking hot, but I feel they use her attractiveness to make up for the fact that she's really lame compared to Vibeke. no offense to her but her vocals are slightly awful.
They even mix up the lyrics an add stupid duets. Tristania died for me. I am going to listen to mortemia. mariangela took out the mystic at 5:50 completely! Vibeke&Morten: enjoy singing and songwriting. Altough Tristania is broken now the first 3 albums will remain in my heart and my CD player. I am not going to buy anything of tristania anymore. They shll choose another name, TRISTANIA is not worth to stand for such rubbish!
