They are under AVEX, which is a big Japanese music label that has been the center of J-pop industry, and produced artists like Ayumi Hamasaki. Another piece of info to understand J-pop: J-pop didn’t really needed to export abroad like K-pop cuz the domestic market was big enough to profit, meaning their music style has only followed domestic trends (which led to some creative music like Perfume and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu). The problem is big labels like Avex didn’t even allow their MVs to be played by other countries by limiting license etc.. BUT with XG they decided to finally open to the world.
Simon the producer said XG is not JPOP and not really planning to promote and sell in Japan. XG is targeting abroad promoting in Korea mostly. and Avex only supported him financially and it's all done by his own effort with his connections in Kpop industry while he was Kpop Idol. That's why he could get all the Kpop vocal /dance trainers and composers to make XG.
@@NateChun what? they will definitely target japan for sells, they are promoting in korea also for simultaneous global promotion, to catch the kpop market. Japan has 2nd biggest music market, even k pop groups makes Japanese version of their korean songs.
@@sohamsen36 Simon said they'll target for oversea so if they're gonna sell in Japan that's gonna be after they're proven sales in other regions. Right now Japan is not their priority. Main reason they have to promote in Korea first is that no Japanese Kpop groups(Niziu, JO1 etc) have not found yet good way to compete with Johnny's in Japanese market. I think they're targeting US market through Korea. That's their main objective and that's why they sing everything in english
