    I’ve always preferred Creme Universelle to Renovateur. It’s a more gentle product. You can even use it on a brand new pair of crust leather patina shoes without doing any damage. And it can bring old, dry, worn out shoes to life in minutes.
    Plus, you can use it on other leather goods such as bags and jackets.

      Well, to each his own. I never had issue with renovator but also always used it sparingly. And it works wonders on old leather that needs refreshing. Thanks for sharing though. The cream polish is good but not quite the same IMHO.

      @@theshoesnob_official to each his own indeed.
      Just for clarification though, I’m not talking about the cream polish, but a separate product called creme universelle, which is saphir’s leather balm.
      I apply the cream polish after cream universelle during maintenance and finish off with a mirror shine with Pate deluxe.

    What do you think about Japanese BootBlack shoe care products?

      @theshoesnob_official  2 года назад +1

      Yea, they are pretty good. But I prefer the French stuff over everything

    Do you ever condition the inside of a shoe? Some of my grand father's and father's older shoes have cracked footbeds. I don't have a pair that's old enough to have that problem but I was wondering if conditioning the footbed would be advisable.

      I never do. It would be a challenge but yes could help if one really expects to keep their shoes to pass to their children

      by all means, both clean and condition and Boot Black, the Japanese high end shoe care maker, has amazing products for lining moisturization.

    Is renovateur really necessary or would does creme universelle a good job too?

    • @theshoesnob_official

      I am sure the creme would be fine. But I have yet to personally use a product better than the renovator.
