I love it, Malcolm! I was wondering how you would paint the foliage along the wall and am so impressed with the simplicity and ease you used, I would no doubt have stressed over that and gotten too detailed with it, your way really works so well! Thank you! 🌹🌻🌷
Malcolm- Thanks very much for sending up this demo. Your style is so impressive. I am painting more with gouache at this time. To achieve an impasto style, using same technique, would you gravitate toward a more acrylic gouache (like Holbein Acryla) or mix a good quality gouache with something like an acrylic glaze--and use a larger bristle brush like you use in painting with oil? Thanks in advance. King
Thank you. The problem with regular gouache impasto is that it will crack when dry. So acrylic gouche may solve this. I would not use a bristle brush. Rather go for the flatter bigger shapes that gouache is best for, as opposed to brush texture.
Brilliant! I have watercolour paper, will that be ok to use? I need to practice painting loose and with confidence and mix colours with confidence like yourself. Thanks so much for this demo Malcolm. 👍🏻
Hi Malcolm, I was wondering why you don’t mix the paint with an oil or medium? Do you always do it this way? I’m new to oils and I thought you had to use an oil of some sort. Thank you.
Thanks Cassie. I almost never use a medium. It helps to use a soft Oil paint to begin with. Check out paint reviews in my channel. Also I want to apply Oils thick and buttery. No need to dilute and blend your colors way.
Thanks a lot ❤
Love the brilliance of your colours, Malcolm. The painting just sings!

Thank you. Yes that paper will be fine for acrylics or gouache as it is. If you want to use oils then it's best to prime it with gesso.
@@MalcolmDewey thank you for taking the time to answer

beautiful ❤️..Do you never use mediums.?
I don't during the painting process. A little dilutant for the first drawing and composing perhaps, but after that I prefer to keep the paint thicker.
