I discovered this song when I was dumped by an ok relationship and thought it was about being happy despite the sadness that the breakup brought into me. Then I had a rather toxic relationship (only a few months, thankfully) and I wanted to break up for most of it but couldn't find when to do it - he finally broke up with me one day and I legit couldn't stop smiling even though I tried.
