  • Filet crochet lace is a great option for those looking to delve into lacework. The challenging part of going from "regular" crochet to lace crochet is holding the tiny, thin materials. Once you get used to that, you'll be flying with just repeats of double crochet and chains!
You can use filet crochet to create highly intricate patterns and letters. My favorite application is these last-name crochet doilies. My grandma made these for all her kids and grandkids and taught me how to do it. Now I'm teaching y'all!
They make a perfect gift for a loved one for a wedding, anniversary, or housewarming. You can switch it up and do first names too for an anytime gift!
    Materials:
Crochet Thread, Extra Fine (Size 30), White: amzn.to/35LL7xg
Steel Crochet Hook Size 9/1.4 mm: amzn.to/3Ctv1V1
    Scissors
    frame and fabric backing

Thanks for this video! How long did it take you to complete your project?

That's a great question. I don't really know how many hours. I did it in about a week I think. I would work on it on my lunch break, at home, and some at church too.

7:15 so after practicing a person can get the thread to stay on the hook? That's a struggle I have, but I gave up trying after a few attempts. I also have a hard time seeing the stitches well enough to get the thread where it needs to go (like you said in the video). 🥴

It definitely took some time to get the tension right in order to keep the threat on the hook!

Where can I find upper and lower alphabets? I love doing fillet letters but I really need more of a variety.

Honestly, I just google and look through google image options. I don't have any specific place I look.

You can google Filet Crochet Letters and find many pictures of the alphabet in different fonts. You can then choose the font you like the best and put your letters together. I like to use either excel or graph paper to graph it out.

Not sure if you ever figured it out. This tutorial was playing while I made my own pattern just using letters I found on google and what I thought looked good. Was actually very simple.

I honestly didn't measure it. Somewhere around 4 by 7 inches probably.
