Yeah, the NCAA games always played similar to Madden. It was the little play tweaks, formations and college atmosphere that really separated the two.

I think people missing the point of what he saying. He is not hating on the game. He is just observing without being hyped up and noticing things that look too similar to Madden 24 and past Maddens. The trailer doesn’t look bad but it doesn’t have enough to go off of to convince me that it has different physics/gameplay as Madden. NCAA 14 and Madden 25 had the best physics for an EA football game imo. But these recent games that are on this engine just ain’t it for me.

People are sensitive because of their nostalgia and eagerness to play a game that they've been waiting years for. You deprive folks of a popular game franchise for a decade, people are going to be A LOT more lenient to certain shit cause they're happy JUST to get the game back.
Is Ryan being a bit nitpicky? Perhaps. But his concerns and observations, I believe, are pretty justified. Any gamer who's been gaming for at least a decade can't possibly FULLY trust EA to put out an A+ quality game on release day without there being some major issue or missing features. Since that's been their track record for the majority of games they release.
Any release from here on out will not be without some skepticism.

That pick at 3:25 is exactly how it happens in real life. The reciever is looking at the qb so he cant see the corner jumping the route so he continues to run his route the way its drawn up.

The game looks good but we shall see. It's hard to see how the gameplay actually runs until you get your paws on the sticks. We still don't know how much effort or resources they put into Ultimate Team mode or whatever. We also don't know what the Dynasty Mode is all about just yet.

But this game just looks different, and obviously we can’t make any real judgments till we get to play it. Yes, I’m sure it’s not perfect, but from the trailer the pros of the game far outweigh any noticeable cons. Basic physics, quality gameplay and a game that works on day 1, it looks pretty, we all gave it that credit & knew it would at least present itself better than Madden, folks want a true simulation experience and not just a pretty arcade game.

They have different 40 yd dash times therefore their in-game speed and acceleration should reflect this.

How I look at it is if NCAA 14 is better than this in comparison (gameplay, presentation, and dynasty) than it's a waste and a failure. I get what you saying Ryan but if you go back to Madden and NCAA on PS2/XBOXOG they looked very similar. The college rules and pace of the game is what made it different. The NCAA team always did a better job with same engine to me. I don’t kno if it will be good or not I’m just saying that it looked the same back then too
The difference being is that when those two games were being made, they were also when the Good Maddens were still being made. There has been no good Maddnen on the Frostbite engine.
I can understand the concern about the game its EA and we all know they are money first, but with this first installment of college football i think the dev team really tried to keep the focus on gameplay and dynasty. I dont think it will be perfect, but it appears it's going to play better than Madden. Which is a win. If you think you can do better and are passionate about gaming, i encourage you to learn game design and start making games. That's the only way you will get exactly what you want.

1. Turf wear as the game progresses?
2. Players getting grass marks, dirt, mud, and maybe small wear and tear on uniforms?
3. Sidelines excitement or reactionary to what’s happening on field?
4. Physics-like collisions as player run into sideline people?
I’m just not seeing any of this stuff that would add to the immersion.

This is how you sell games in 2024. EA doesn't have to make another good game until the end of time. They know this. EA Sports knows you're idiots playing their shit and no matter how bad it is, no matter how much folks like Ryan tell you this and provide concrete proof, EA knows it doesn't matter. Games are gonna move no matter what. Cause now, folks love to get GOT.
I get the point about EA taking old features and pasting them as new, but the stadium pulse/crowd noise/playart effects are staples of the college football game. They are essential to the atmosphere to the game. Madden copied that and they did a poor job with it, but college football it’s an essential part. To me they’ve taken a lot of aspects that have worked well in other games and tried to implement that into this game. I’m fine with that if they will be impactful to the play experience.
Wear and tear is taken from head coach 09, and it was implemented really well in that game. Players in their 30’s would have a lesser max health and fatigue than rookies. You could feel the impact of it during the season and over many seasons with a player. It made for a lot of Fresh experiences in evaluating players. I’m Curious to see how it translates into CFB

I love how when he talks about the revamped passing he says he doesn’t know what they are revamping from. If he read the gameplay deep dive almost everything they reference is from the old franchise. So yes, the passing is revamped from NCAA 14 and the stadium pulse is an homage from NCAA 06. Really not hard to figure out…
I think Ryan forgets that the people spearheading this game were developers on the original franchise or guys from CFB Revamped. These aren’t Madden guys…they live and breathe College Football and this game.

Few things:
1. Compared to 19-23, Madden 24 wasn't nearly as bad. That said, it wasn't groundbreaking. But also, it played *better* than the previous 5 games. Should they pat themselves on the back? No. But still.
2. "sees a lot of Madden", but "expects there to be similarities "...huh.
3. The hands on told me all I needed to know. Even from known Madden detractors.
4. This game *could* change how devs do things. Probably won't but we finally get a game on 1-2 consoles.
5. It's really all about how it plays live with speed and nuance. Madden has been plagued by plotting gameplay and no juice for years.

i think the main thing that set's EA back year after year is the animation's...........and the consist use of the exact same animation's year after year after year. And they say oh we added 300 new animations i highly doubt they do because if they did you'd notice the game play would be much different year after year but for the most part you can expect anything from EA to look virtually the same year after year no matter how they try to do it it's gonna look pretty much the exact same

Here is the concept EA doesnt understand even after all the years of backlash. When you roll a bowling ball down the lane there is a reaction depending on where and how much force it hits the pens. What EA has done for years is take out those physics and no matter how great the roll is and force you get a strike every time.

When is Modus' release date? I had some hope, haven't purchased an EA product in 10 years and won't be starting this year. You'll be able to win the NC and recruit 5-star players at Kennesaw State. No physics, so I don't need to talk about gameplay, all animation library. 2 years EA!
Usually agree with you, especially about blocking, but on out routes receivers are taught to head toward the sideline. You don't attack the ball on an out route. The point of the route is to be caught and get out of bounds quickly. If it were a curl or stop route you would have a point and its a gripe I have had with madden for years, but not on out routes. That out route pick is exactly how many pick sixes happen.

I didn’t expect gameplay to look much different, because it’s still a sim-football game. Regardless, my favorite thing so far is the wear-and-tear system. It’s about time hard hits matter! People get mauled in Madden and get up easily, but take a tiny hit or no hit at all and break a bone or some shit. So glad the power and type of hit finally matters. That’s a huge, underrated step toward realism in my opinion.

At around the 3:40 mark the receiver is running an out route brodie. Nobody can change the outcome of that play that much especially when the db is already coming down with a full head of steam🤦🏽

I hate Madden, try it out every year with my 10 hour trial and then delete it within an hour or two. It's trash. That being said I don't know how people are automatically hating on this. Of course it "resembles" Madden. It's the same engine and company. The gameplay looks 100x better than Madden though. This is not a re-skin. They introduce a handful of new features that Madden doesn't have anymore and some features Madden has NEVER have just in the five minute preview. I get it. Fuck EA, fuck Madden. Absolutely. But you can't look at the gameplay vid and seriously go "this is Madden lol cooked". Go watch it a few more times.

Excited for the game but majorly bummed we cant import draft classes with the computer generated recruits .
Seems like in a business sense it would go hand and hand of tying the two games together College and Madden.
We are missing out on the ultimate dynasty/franchise mode experience of building prospects up and then following them onto the next level in the pros.
Yes it's probably something to do with coding etc and maybe they aren't willing or cant just blacklist the real players from being imported but still disappointed on that aspect.

I’m super excited for this game, but Ryan has some good points here. Some of the gameplay looks like clunky Madden gameplay. Some things look tweaked and smoother, but a lot of it will be similar. I’ll be very happy with this game if the game modes are deep. If dynasty is at all like franchise mode I’ll be upset.

The picks thrown in the trailer are surely for a laugh right? Judging solely by how the gameplay/physics "looks".. it definitely looks to have its own varying feel (i also haven't played a newer madden since the pc release of 22) say compared to madden but i can't help but note that maybe due to the engine, that it'll be the same clunky, repeat and sterile gameplay that gets tiring after the honeymoon period wears off. I don't know, who knows i guess until it's out to the masses? That's just my take and I'm excited that college football does have an offical release again

@@WBaltimore Because EA changed their engine 3-4 times from 09-15... There was no need to but they did it instead of sticking to 1 that worked, 2013 wasnt perfect but it was decent, arguably better than what we see now, definitely less buggy. Why not change it again or improve it for physics based play?

I honestly don't agree, the high arching throw they showed has been missing from madden games for over a decade now. The ability to point to the player you want to switch to mid play will allow more skill based gameplay. They also showed formations,plays, and audibles not in madden. It's made with the same engine so there's going to be similarities, but to act like it's a carbon copy of madden is just false.
