Poles did some good things since he’s been here. On the other hand, some of the misses & some of the draft picks/free agents are subpar to say the least. The production that other teams are getting from 3rd, 4th, 5th rd picks compared to Poles’ picks are fire-able offenses.
This team can EASILY turn this thing around. The offensive line held the entire team back. Nobody even blocked with fundamentals. Get a new OL coach and a few guys on the OL and it’s a totally different team. The offense never even got going and Caleb still put up the best season as a Bears QB.
There are a lot of Poles glazers in these comments. This dude is not “the guy.” Who has this dude drafted, signed or bought low on that has panned out? This dude was so quick to dismiss the history of this franchise and declare that he changed it. Guess what, he’s like every other GM in the past 10-12 years. If they extend this dude we will be part of another decade of ineptitude. The clown show never ends in Halas Hall.
Here’s the question that has been on my mind since all this conversation started up about Poles… If the Bears let him go, where would he honestly find another job as GM in the NFL? And if the answer is as obvious a nowhere as it is to me, why the hell are we keeping him?

Disagree with some of the opinions here. Hood has no idea that poles will be extended. The incoming coach only needs to point to the lack of pro bowl talent to make Warren open to the idea of replacing the GM.
Year 1, Clean House. Clean up bad contracts. Year 2 , begin rebuild, fix draft, and start over. Year 3 began to show real signs of improvement. The question at hand, does Poles deserve a year 4? Is this failure in year three the fault of Poles or Ownership and the fired Head Coach???

That is pathetic that Poles is intentionally keeping Johnson away from the Bears job just so he can keep his job. If this is true the dysfunction knows no bounds and Poles should have been gone yesterday. My guess is if this rumor is true it will take a while for something like this to materialize if it ever does. In the end Poles' merit's will keep him or release him right now I feel like he has inside of a year to turn things around.
As much as I like Poles, he's really had a bad draft overall. So much wasted 2nd, 3rd & 4th rounders that should have been core pieces have turned out into nothing. Velus Jones to name his biggest draft bust, also picking Darnell Wright over Jalen Carter was a big miss. Wright is not bad, but he's not even showing he's a top 10 type talent. Picking a punter that high in the draft. Using a 3rd rounder on Amegadjie. Tevon Jenkins was his biggest hit via the draft. Signing both LBs to those contracts, even the extention to DJ Moore is starting to look bad. The Sweat extension - maybe good, maybe bad. But losing that 2nd rounder to get him hurts. Also losing picks to trade for guys like Keenan Allen. Lastly, Odunze pick @ 9 could have been to plug holes in the o-line or d-line. IF the Bears let Poles pick the next HC, then he should be extended until the '27 season. IF they believe that he doesnt deserve that extension with his ho-hum overall results, then they need to fire him, get a new GM and let that new GM hire his HC. Of course this is the Bears, the most likely scenario will be they will let Poles hire his next HC, then the Bears doesnt win 6 games next year, they FIRE Poles after the '25 season, and have a new GM with a lame duck coach he didnt hire and a QB he didnt draft. Pathetic.
We're gonna get joe brady at best, or someone similar like bobby slowik, but even more likely, an offense coach who wasn't a play caller. with that coach, we'll show lots of potential in year one, maybe even squeak into the playoffs. there will be tons of joy and lots of hope. No one will speak of lucky plays and miracle wins. Then in year 2 and on, he'll shit the bed. Then, we'll bring in a defensive coach who isn't a household name but has a good football mind combined with a hopeful spirit that will try to restore a good work ethic and smart play but won't quite have the acumen for running a team. We'll couple him with a young gm who knows how to evaluate talent and has proven his worth by being a part of a winning culture. They'll keep Caleb. But his warts won't go away. He'll have the same problem as the last two qbs, only difference is, instead of being a runner, he extends plays - but he'll never make the easy play, he'll struggle with reads and with accuracy. A year or two into having this new gm and head coach, we'll have a trade involving a pick in the draft and we'll get another qb who has great tools, if only he can be coached up on all the things a good coach can help with. And then repeat that all over again. Daboll and Nagy jump to mind as guys who had some Ben Johnson level credentials. Even if we get him, we'll show just how broken we are as we live that cycle over and over again. We're gonna be nagy and trestman again, and we'll get eberflus and fox to fix what was broken. And the people put into those positions will tell us how this time, it's different. but it won't be. It never is.
~ Ben Jonhson would be a "First Time" head coach (bad news) and one whose playbook the ENTIRE division would be all too familiar with (bad news) . . . ~
Please go get Jon Gruden. You got your Culture Guy. You got your Offensive Guy. You got your guy that holds everyone accountable. He would work with Poles.
What are you guys talking about? The NFL is the one league where teams DO fix year to year with the right moves. This just sounds like a room of angry people who are annoyed they have to talk about a team that isn’t good this year. This is part of the problem with this franchise, our owners stink and our media piles on them like emo kids angry at their parents. I’m just as done with the media voices as the owners etc. Be better while you bash others as well.
The NFL is one of the only leagues, which has one of th few, if not only, that WANTS its teams to be competitive unlike MLB that wants either the New York or Southern California teams to make it or NBA which is concerned about whichever star is highlighted. They believe in the saying “a rising tide lifts all boats” and bends over backwards with the way the draft and free agency and salary cap is structured to ensure everyone is a player or two away from contention. A front office has to have a special kind incompetence to fail in this league.
I will say this. Mitch trubisky had 1 pro bowl also. Look how that turned out. I’m not saying Daniels career is gonna be like Mitch, but I’ve been seeing bears fans and other fans saying that we picked the wrong QB again. Pump the brakes, Daniels had kingsbury this year, Caleb had Waldron for 9 games and Thomas brown for the rest…..
Talk about negativity!!! Poles has NOT done that bad of a job!! It’s not all on Poles that there were so many injuries, or that the coaches were soft. Poles biggest mistake was trusting Eberflus! I had been screaming for him to be fired for over a year!! Teams turn things around every year, and it’s mostly about coaching. Look at the Chargers, Broncos, Texans, and Commanders. Cronin saying you can’t change culture in a year?? The right guy changes the culture when he walks in the room!!!!
Two 10+ game losing streaks and zero drafted pro-bowlers in 3 years as GM. If they lose Ben Johnson because of this idiot, and then turn around to hire Brian Flores, that'll be about it for me as a viewer until there's a change in ownership. I'm not going to watch them ruin another quarterback through organizational malpractice.
Ben Johnson almost lost the first lions games by getting cute in the 2nd half and not running the ball. His offense is full of high draft picks, especially the line. He's not a sure thing as a coach. The bears need someone to change the whole culture.
I don't think I can trust this organization to make intelligent football decisions anymore. While the McCaskeys own the team, the priority will be to put butts in the seats at Soldier Field and to get a stadium deal to increase the value of the team for the day when Virginia's kids have no choice but to sell. If the stars align and a competitive team just happens to magically appear every six or seven seasons, that would be a fluke/bonus. Things would correct themselves within a season, and then a season later, we're back to asking how the front office can screw up the next hire, and set the franchise back for another five years.
Chemical how Chicago mainstream sports media praised polls for the trade for picking up the bust Caleb, and now we’re calling for his head. The fact of the matter of this whole situation is because of Warren go back to hard knocks. Why do we see him popping up everywhere with player decisions? I think a lot of this stuff was forced. Why was Caleb named the starter before camp even opened because Tyson would’ve beat him out and they knew it and a talent level yeah Caleb is way better but as a football player, Tyson is a better football player. He understands the game more. He’s played the game more And Caleb could’ve sat behind him this year and that off the line. It looks so bad just like last year when he stepped in for fields, all of a sudden the offensive line looked good. Why because he knows how to get rid of the ball Tyson had one horrific game through five pics and throw all my perks give me a break Not saying Tyson is or isn’t the future I believe he can start in this league but he definitely could’ve played better than Caleb did this year yeah but the Chicago sports media just wants to cover their asses because they praised William so bad so now they’re gonna blame polls when they praise them last yearwe need guys like Mike North back on the scene who love Chicago sports teams, not wanna whine and bitch

Poles did some good things since he’s been here. On the other hand, some of the misses & some of the draft picks/free agents are subpar to say the least. The production that other teams are getting from 3rd, 4th, 5th rd picks compared to Poles’ picks are fire-able offenses.
Great comment : “Zack Levine in cleats “
Lol
This team can EASILY turn this thing around. The offensive line held the entire team back. Nobody even blocked with fundamentals. Get a new OL coach and a few guys on the OL and it’s a totally different team. The offense never even got going and Caleb still put up the best season as a Bears QB.
Biggest problem in Chicago is that Seth Jones contract by a MILE
There are a lot of Poles glazers in these comments. This dude is not “the guy.” Who has this dude drafted, signed or bought low on that has panned out? This dude was so quick to dismiss the history of this franchise and declare that he changed it. Guess what, he’s like every other GM in the past 10-12 years. If they extend this dude we will be part of another decade of ineptitude. The clown show never ends in Halas Hall.
Here’s the question that has been on my mind since all this conversation started up about Poles…
If the Bears let him go, where would he honestly find another job as GM in the NFL? And if the answer is as obvious a nowhere as it is to me, why the hell are we keeping him?
She’s miffed?? Well… this is why the Bears are who they are?? Here’s a question… WTF has Ryan Poles done?? Goddammit this woman is just as ignorant as that front office!!
Who should be the GM then ? Knowing the mccaskey's they'll just pick somebody that's even worse
@@Bigbubba-fafo Any random GM would do. You can't do any worse than Poles. I would say get a great coaching mind and let him have say in personnel if he wants. When is the last time the Bears had a coach who was allowed to have a say in personnel? Any random coach could evaluate talent better than Poles.
Disagree with some of the opinions here. Hood has no idea that poles will be extended. The incoming coach only needs to point to the lack of pro bowl talent to make Warren open to the idea of replacing the GM.
Pro bowl is horrible metric. Roquan should’ve been a pro bowler every year in Chicago and did get it because it is Chicago.
Ben Johnson will be a Rookie HC.
How about Jerry Krause & Phil jackson
Im so tired of hearing Ben Johnson. For goodness sakes he got a QB that was in Superbowl 2 years before his arrival
Improvement? Where?
@@lucrative6477do you know how to read?
I'd rather have Pace get a 3rd chance at HC than Poles a 2nd chance. I didn't used to believe that, and it's sad.
Agree. The Atlanta coach at least seems competent and Matt Nagy is better than Flus as bad as Nagy was.
Yeah It’s Definitely time to Move on from Ryan Poles!! Personally I’m sick and Tired of Hearing people about Williams isn’t doing this or that
He’s a Rookie Quarterback and a Great Rookie at that. Why doesn’t anyone talk about how these Pathetic Receivers can’t get open.
And to all those people who want Ben Johnson to be our HC don’t know about Football 🏈? I’ve been a Bears and Cubs Fan since 1969 I don’t want our New Coach being on the Job Training Coach just because he’s a good OC sure as HELL isn’t going to mean he’s going to be a Great HC. Wake up people I’m sick and tired of 🧀 Heads talking Shit every year I want a HC who’s been a HC in the league with Experience. 😤 BJ I’d rather have Vrable Coaching our Team 🐻🔽
JUST DON'T HIRE FLORES!! He takes zero accountability, and that's what we need, for starters.
Courtney is the Ryan Poles of ESPN 1000. Bad take after bad take.
Drop Pace and replace him with Ray Agnew and try to get Ben Johnson
Thank you J Hood and Peggy. Good analysis
I'm still taking Caleb Williams 🐻🐻🐻🐻
All the issues you laid out… OR just get rid of him!!
Can we not hire a coach that is actively sueing the NFL? ie Gruden or Flores. You want a sh!tshow, you will get a sh!tshow.
Pathetic.
Let Cunningham go…Poles follows his lead in every draft
There is absolutely no reason to keep Poles , any competent ownership would have fired him already !!
~ Ben Jonhson would be a "First Time" head coach (bad news) and one whose playbook the ENTIRE division would be all too familiar with (bad news) . . . ~
The Bears will totally Bears this up....doesn't matter until ownership changes
Ryan Poles has had 3-years and he’s traded-away better players than he’s drafted.
He has to go.
Pro Bowl is just a popularity contest
Poles didn't even draft johnson. He only gets credit for extending him.
And Poles didn’t even draft him!!
He didn't even draft Johnson. That was a Pace pick
No, fire George McCaskey.
People this will get fixed until the team is sold. Bottom line the one constant are the McCaskeys!!!!!!
Please go get Jon Gruden. You got your Culture Guy. You got your Offensive Guy. You got your guy that holds everyone accountable. He would work with Poles.
FIRE 🔥 POLES
Can Courtney replace Kap for good? 😂
Courtney wants to interview Thomas Brown for OC. Are you serious?
That 1 pro bowler is not his pick on top of it.
So, how many pro bowlers did Ryan Pace have in his 3rd year as a GM? Pace had whiffs too! Remember Kevin White.
Trubuski was a Pro Bowl alternative. Big difference
They really should it’s what’s best for business.
25-26 MORE OF THE SAME... BETTER GET USE TO IT.....
It all starts with whose coaching these athletes…..and Tyreek will be back. The next coach under Kevin Warren will be him. Things will be different
I think it should be Vrabel
EVEN MORE OF A REASON TO GET JOHNSON HE WANTS POLES GONE WHICH HE SHOULD BE THEN JUST TO GO TO SOMEONE ELSE FOR JOB SECURITY IS SO BEARS
Poles did not draft or trade for JJ
Ben Johnson almost lost the first lions games by getting cute in the 2nd half and not running the ball. His offense is full of high draft picks, especially the line. He's not a sure thing as a coach. The bears need someone to change the whole culture.
Pro Bowl is a fan vote lol
Ryan Poles is gonna step down soon. Stay tuned...
And he didn’t pick Jalen Johnson, it was Ryan Pace that selected him. Get rid of Poles
Bears need new ownership. Until the McCasky's no longer have their greasy hands on the team. The team will be nothing
First of all, you don't draft a right tackle top 10. Right Tackles are for the 2nd round
Except the Lions drafted Sewell top ten
stevenson will be back that just crazy to think that
No All stars. Gotta be kidding 😂
Let's quit the pandering
Khalil making 5m less than Sweat this year
Wait...did he say Ozzie Smith was an all-star because of back flips? I'm hearing that wrong. WTF
