I love a quote from Robert Duvall back when he was making this movie. He described western movies as the true American art form. He said the Italians have Opera, the English have Shakespeare, and we have the Western. The more I think about it, the more I think he's right.
Robert Duvall once called Open Range the middle chapter of his personal "Western Trilogy", bookended by "Lonesome Dove" and "Broken Trail". If you want to see Sir Michael Gambon at his best, I would suggest the 2000 British miniseries "Longitude", also starring Jeremy Irons.
My mom's favorite movie! She watched this movie literally a thousand times while battling dementia before she passed away. It brought her much happiness. She would turn to me everytime i watched it with her to tell me how handsome Kevin Costner is.
Michael Jeter in his last movie... He was dying but did not tell anyone on the project. That fact makes his scenes (especially reading the letter Costner's character left as his will) that much more beautiful. Also glad to see Bening in such a good role. She is very underrated and in so few movies (Regarding Henry, The American President are two other good ones with her)...
Robert Duvall is amazing. He had a small part in the film "Bullitt", he was one of the bad guys in the original "True Grit", "Great Santini" he played a strict dad who was in the military. So many films and different roles in classic film history.
Duvall cut his acting teeth in westerns. All the older aged, and now mostly passed away, actors did. They were the greats. Westerns were the foundation of modern-era American cinema, as one might imagine.
Baxter was an Irish immigrant to the USA. He was playing out the role of a good old fashioned English landlord, though there was plenty of good old fashioned "going along to get along" in the town, but that is universal. The only thing that makes this an American story is the fact that it happened in America.
My favorite western of all time, Tombstone and Lonesome Dove right up there with it. It’s got so much heart, and the battles are with our inner demons as well as the outter ones. It’s a beautifully shot story of redemption.
I love this movie. Robert Duvall is one the greatest actors of all time. My favorite thing about him is not movie related. He helped keep Walmart from building a store on part of the Wilderness Battlefield (Civil War).
Diego Luna's biggest roles are definitely his part in the star wars movies. He plays Cassian Andor in Rogue One, the prequel, and then again in the new series featuring the character. He was also in The Terminal with Tom Hanks and Contraband with Mark Walberg.
Always liked this one and thought it was an underrated western. Michael Gambon as Baxter the evil rancher was actually using his native Dublin Irish accent. Both Professor Dumbledores of the Harry Potter films, Richard Harris and Michael Gambon have been Irish.
for an even more despicable character portrayal by Michael Gambon, don't miss his role as Mr. Spica (the thief) in Peter Greenaway's masterwork, 'The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover' from 1989.
"John Wick" was inspired by the killing of Marcus Lattrell's dog a few years after his return from Afghanistan and the events of "Lone Survivor" (also recommended). Great reaction as always. 😉
If I may. As a new subscriber may I make a suggestion. I'm a big Jim Carrey Fan. The Movie I suggest you watch is one most of his fans have never seen. The Majestic (2001). It's a magical movie. One of the few serious Movie Carrey's done. Just a thought.
I've watched most westerns going back to the 1930's. There are some good ones and some great ones. This movie is special. It has every element we could ask for. The script is written and delivered like the finest poetry I've ever heard. Combined with the cinematography is almost overload. The actors performances feel like they were honored to be a part of this. The treatment, care and craftsmanship is unlike any other move I can think of. There is a fantastic documentary on the making of the film in the link below. ruclips.net/video/30u0pbMndr8/видео.html
I really like your channel but have one suggestion...please do more reacting to the movie that your are supposed to be reacting to rather than citing all the movies in the past that the actors have played in before. In some reactions I think you guys spend more than 50% of your dialogue talking about other movies than the one you are supposed to be reacting to. Just a suggestion that I think will make your channel better...thanks!

One of the most overlooked and underrated movies in my opinion.
My mom's favorite movie! She watched this movie literally a thousand times while battling dementia before she passed away. It brought her much happiness. She would turn to me everytime i watched it with her to tell me how handsome Kevin Costner is.
Kevin Costner directed 'Dances with Wolves' too all the way back in 1990.

Starring Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner. Directed By Kevin Costner. One of my favorite movies! I remember seeing this on DVD, and it's pretty good.

Don’t forget To Kill a Mockingbird.
He also played the dad in Sling Blade. I loved him in Lonesome Dove miniseries

Kevin Costner Should Have Won A Oscar For Best Director,For This Great Western Movie
Hard To Believe, It's Been 20 Since This Movie Came Out, Time Goes By

And if y’all did not know that Costner directed, then that means you have not seen Dances With Wolves. That is an absolute must watch!

This Was My Late Dad's Favorite Western Movie,I Thinks Of Him, When I Watched This Movie, Thanks For Doing A Reaction To This Great Classic Movie
I love this movie. Robert Duvall is one the greatest actors of all time. My favorite thing about him is not movie related. He helped keep Walmart from building a store on part of the Wilderness Battlefield (Civil War).
Great Performances By Everyone In This Movie
Great Movie, Great Cast

If we're going on a Western kick how about The Outlaw Josey Wales?
best Western made since 2000, top 3 best westerns ever made. favorite Kevin Costner movie.
Try Second Hand Lions or Silverado
We've actually done Secondhand Lions! Mom had never seen it before. It was a great reaction.
You would love Open Trail. It's a one off mini-series and it's excellent! Duvall is always good in a western but he really shines in this one.
Love this, more Duvall, Lonesome dove great story...with Tommy lee Jones, The late Robert Urich, Dany Glover, Ricky Schroder, and others........
You two are funny!....nailed it on what is involved in this movie!
I love so many moments in this movie that touch your heart....and the OPEN RANGE :)

As Always Love Seeing Your Reactions To This Great Movie, Guy's
for an even more despicable character portrayal by Michael Gambon, don't miss his role as Mr. Spica (the thief) in Peter Greenaway's masterwork, 'The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover' from 1989.
You guys should watch the original “Killer Elite “ with Robert Duvall and James Caan.
Check out, The Great Santini, Robert Duvalls best role. according to me haha
One of the best gunfight scenes in a western film.
Don't ever remind me the 90s were 30 years ago ever again LOL
"John Wick" was inspired by the killing of Marcus Lattrell's dog a few years after his return from Afghanistan and the events of "Lone Survivor" (also recommended).
Great reaction as always. 😉
Abraham Benrubi played in the TV series "Parker Lewis can't lose".
And ER...
Costner almost died of appendicitis while making this....as he relates in a documentary about The Making Of...
This was Jeter’s final movie. He died shortly afterward of HIV.
I also like Robert Duvall in Broken Trail if you can find it. It was a 2-part mini series that originally aired on AMC.

I may not have John Wick's talents, but if someone hurts my dog they damn well better run
I have really enjoyed many of your reactions. But, here, there is so much more of your own conversation than we see of the film.
Real feel western

I would think you would like the other Robert Duvall 4 part TV movie series Lonesome Dove.
