56 Years Old Lady Gets Her Ears Pierced For The First Time

- Not liking needles or pain, I waited a really, really long time to get my ears pierced!
Some people do this to celebrate a special occasion (like turning 12). Many cultures pierce the ears of 1-week old baby girls (solving the "I wonder if that's a girl" problem). Some piercings are done to emphasize a rebellion or make a statement.
I did this for no particular occasion or reason...except that a friend at work gave me a pair of earrings last week, not realizing I've never had pierced ears. And I'm just tired of not being able to wear earrings that look nice and don't pinch your ears the whole time you wear them. These "diamond" squares do remind me of my sister Terri, who always wore pretty earrings. The more I've thought about this, I've also come to the conclusion that this fairly radical move does, in fact, reaffirm my core belief that it is NEVER too late to change your mind and go a different road.
Oh yes, a look of dismay when things go kind of weird with the first ear!!! My piercer, Elizabeth, a very nice girl I'm sure in all other settings, explained some problem with the piercing. YES, ALL MY FEARS WERE REALIZED, IT IS WRONG WRONG WRONG TO SHOOT A NEEDLE INTO YOUR BODY UNNECESSARILY, and wouldn't you know, I'm the one the gun misfires on....
But I'm not really too concerned at this point because (1) I am quite relaxed with the valium, AND I am freshly realizing that (2) I didn't hear some horrible disgusting loud crunch, which I thought I would and (3) it really didn't hurt all that badly! I'd expected a horrible burning needle induced PAIN, but it was more of a pinch. How embarrassing I've been such a baby all these years.
My mother was 55 years old when she got her ears pierced. She only gotten 1 in each lobe. When she was alive I had 7 piercings on my ears. Now I have 5 piercings on both of my ears. I gotten an industrial piercing almost 2 years ago on my right ear. Almost 4 weeks ago that I have gotten my 2nd cartilage piercing on my left ear.
