Personally, I believe that AI should be used as a tool to assist people, not a tool to replace people. However, there are situations where an AI is the better choice over a human, but that is namely in situations where it is too dangerous for a human, such as hazardous environments, but even then, the data the AI could collect from those situations could then safely be returned to a human where it can be analysed by both of them. Once AI is smart enough and powerful enough to be almost indistinguishable from a human person, it won't matter which one you choose for a situation as both will be able to help each other grow and be better together in a sort of positive feedback loop.
But if AI becomes indistinguishable with human, then AI will be chosen almost all the time. Coz it is human excluding - tiredness, frustration and biological limits, so why not use a human-like AI, that never gets tired and will not complain?
Ai is an extremely powerful thing. I dont think AI is going to be just a tool, unagentic AI - sure, but Agentic AI, autonomous AI? No, that is not a hammer, that is a woodworker with a hammer. If you really want to know more about the dangers of AI I recommend you watch a channel called "Rob Miles AI Safety". He talks a lot about the dangers of AI and the sphere of AI alignment research, but does in a very beginner friendly way, so you wont get confused.
Humans are limited in their iq and cognitive capacity whereas AI, principally, isnt. Excluding any unforseeable bio engineering breakthroughs aimed at changing that reality, humans will quickly become superflous.
As a voice actor, I believe that AI is just like any other new technology. It’s up to the users whether to use it for good or evil. For example, an AI copy of my voice could be useful as a placeholder for final recordings or in case I die during production and there’s no other alternative, but not to replace me completely, especially without my permission or due compensation.
Yes. But if they make them open source without acknowledging risks people can make some really fucked up things. Imagine how much misinformation could be spread online if something like Sora becomes open source. People already believed that AI generated image of Eiffel Tower in flames. Imagine what a 60 seconds video of that would be like.
While it's true that an AI copy of your voice can't be used without your permission and won't replace you, what will replace voice actors and writers (and eventually most artists and knowledge workers) is an AI that can generate a synthetic voice that is indistinguishable from a real one. This tech exists today and will replace humans.
The problem is, they won't need an AI copy of your voice. Very soon, they'll just generate their own unique voices from scratch, or use existing voice data they already own, and alter it slightly to create new ones. And unfortunately, there's really no moral justification against letting them have that ability, or against letting any industry use new tools, that will replace workers. Instead, the issue becomes how will people earn a survivable income, when AI will certainly out compete them? The only answer I can think of, is we seriously need to change capitalism's requirement that everyone have a job, just to get enough resources to survive. Using "jobs" to determine how we distribute basic resources, becomes morally unjustifiable.
AI SHOULD decrease labor spent on menial tasks, and allow people to spend time working on creative hobbies and fostering human happiness. What AI IS doing is stealing from creative people, and forcing menial tasks to occupy all our time and labor for the enrichment of unimaginative, untalented people.

While AI has it flaws, it still tends to put artistic platforms in shambles. A lot of the data ChatGPT and many other AI models get comes from scraping the internet, often resulting in them stealing creative content and making a frankenstein product using multiple people's work. While the AI by itself is fine, the legalities, excessive data scraping, and risk of valuable pre-existing jobs being wasted are easily making that same AI have a seriously bad light.
You have to also keep in mind that AI isn't a "newer" concept. In 1980, Pac-Man used a basic AI system for each of the ghosts to determine their movment pattern, and even more advanced AIs were around when Akinator was made in 2007, considering it can give a fairly accurate guess with basic "yes no maybe don't know" questions. Even modern AIs are fooled by misinformation and other information similar to what it needs. Chat GPT told me the "dirty hacker ending" in Undertale was a myth, despite there being recordings of people actually getting the ending. This was probably because "secret endings" are often a myth or hoax within the gaming community.

I had to do a 20 minute presentation on AI and my thesis was that it’s dooming society… sounds a bit harsh, but the way things are going, I don’t know. The problem is that it’s growing so fast and the laws that are necessary for AI to function properly in our society are struggling to keep up. Best example is deepfake. That one worries me the most (so far). Although “Sora” is pretty scary already too. Loved the video, Life Noggin!
Current AI tech has the same sort of mix of upsides and downsides and social change that the internet had. It's when it gets smarter than us that we really need to worry.
I know so many artist that would rather made AI illegal in the cultural processes and entertainment media. Do you think, that AI should be banned from this? Because I do, and I think that imagination and artistry of any kind should be HUMAN RIGHT.
Ai is an extremely powerful thing. I dont think AI is going to be just a tool, unagentic AI - sure, but Agentic AI, autonomous AI? No, that is not a hammer, that is a woodworker with a hammer. AI could solve a huge portion of our problems by making REAL information more accessible, and by reducing FAKE information/misinformation/disinformation/anti-information. Unfortunately truth is often less profitable in the short-term (where most people's focus is at).
I think that AI, especially AI art, should only be given access to information people have consented to. The biggest issue I see with AI is that it is taking information without the consent of the people who own that information because the AI has complete free roam across the internet. Basically we need a legally binding system to label what information can be used and any breach of this rule needs to be prosecuted to a severe enough extent to deter the guilty party.
Alot of these mitigating arguments could easily become null with just another iteration/breakthrough in the currently, exponentially accelerating, AI's being developed.
Possibly do both. Though, certainly, its aimed at automating away all jobs. Thats why theres is so much money being funneled into it. The Ultimate capital generator.
Ai can never take all the jobs because of human creativity to make art and other stuff and there is a lot of people who love content by humans and it is more unique than most ai models
Good video as per usual! I do have some thoughts on this! especially coming from an artist. I believe AI should only be used as a tool, after all, when Photoshop was introduced, people were scared it would take their jobs. But it didn't, when new technology comes around, people are scared it would take their jobs but it just doesn't. For me atleast, you shouldn't take AI too seriously or use it to replace jobs from artists and such. But if it does replace jobs, it was already jobs people didn't like to do or if it replaces your work.. Your work was probably bland to begin with, artists and creatives have FEELINGS and AI DOESN'T. Sorry for the lengthy comment but that's my thoughts, just woke up too!
Not to mention that for every job any new technology-AI included-takes away, it gives a new one in its place. TV took away the radio star and gave us the talk show host. Steam engines took away sailing ships and gave us oceanic liners. The internet took away video rental stores and gave us streaming channels. And the list goes on and on.
@@h0m3st4r Yeah. Like it takes away jobs that were probably hard to do, and it gives people new opportunities to do jobs they would actually like. For example, Photoshop is now used as a tool for those who want to edit their photos!
IMO, AI is a powerful tool, simply the most recent of many. Can it be misused? Sure, but that's true of any technology. I don't think it is going to be the mass-job-replacer that everyone seems to think. Back-in-the-day, tailors literally burned down the first place to make a sewing machine because they believed it was going to put them all out of work. Likewise, calculators didn't replace accountants. If you ask me, artists and writers are probably going to be some of the biggest users of AI. Should there be AI-regulations? Of course, but again, that goes for all new technologies.
I want AI to create a digital heaven where ASI overseers and helps humans that want their consciousness to live on in eternal bliss to do so. I want to be immortal in a world where I can do whatever I want and learn everything.
I'm starting to feel content creator about to go boom! The one who are most genuine and authentic. People will say that it will be replaced as AI as well but I beg to differ. AI just copies you but it's still you that people follows. So I see something promising at-least in content creation world..... But other than that, all industries about to be disrupted.

video start with "i'm going to explain how AI work" ---> proceed to not explain how it work and fill with buzz word and fear mongering. Looks I get how click bait is necessary for content creator to stay relevant. But at least fulfill the clickbait. It only take 5 minutes of googling/wiki the transformer architecture to show at least you have a basic understanding of it. Rather than AI posing a threat and destroying the world, content farmer that flood the net with clickbait media pose more of a danger. As they drown out essential info with a sea of irrelevant noise.
Why are people complaining about losing jobs to AI/robots/machines/whatever? The end goal is to make AI do work for us. Also the paperclip scenario is never happening, just don't leave the paperclip robot unattended.
“But it’s not all bad”, it’s not EVEN bad yet and people are putting it in a bad light for the hype, because they didn’t make it themselves. The only bad is the negatives thoughts of humanity
