Huh. I would never have imagined soy sauce in a Portuguese recipe. Hey - it’s Kat R. This looks amazing Paul, and I’m going to trust that this recipe is like super authentic. Not only because you are a trained professional, but you have Portuguese blood running through those veins. I am SOOOO going to try this! Will have to put chicken on the list for my next shopping trip, which should be next weekend. THANK YOU for this channel! 😁

Thank You, Kat! I am happy you like the recipe! Actually Spanish blood running through these veins, but close enough! We ate a lot of piri piri chicken growing up, so I knew what flavour I was after. Let me know how you like when you make it! 😀🙌

It's not super authentic it's just his version of it. It's kinda far from reality.

Authentic Portuguese food does NOT have Soy Sauce or Tomato paste. We use Pimento paste. Call it whatever you want it is not Portuguese and I’m Portuguese.

Yum! I love bbq chicken. I used to have a Rotisserie for my bbq but it broke 😥 But now I can make it flattened!❤

Portuguese piri-piri chicken is a chicken simply seasoned with coarse salt, grilled over charcoal and finally basted with piri-piri 3:39 oil. Eaten with fries and a good fresh tomato, cucumber onion salad. Down it with good Portuguese wine, too.

I love the simplicity of what it really is and I am going to try just that.

@@ICookAndPaint, appreciate your kind reply. Please, do it that way and you will 100% like it. That is how it is done in my country and how I do it at home for family and friends and it’s always a guaranteed success. Just make sure the piri-piri oil is not too strong.

Green chillies and soy sauce are never used in Portuguese chicken.

Hey where's the painting? ☺ I know the creative process of painting is more complex than a chicken recipe. So I'll give you a break. By the way that chicken recipe looks scrumptious. 🤗

Hello, what do have in mind? I have not had Piri Piri Chicken in decades. My mother was from Agua de Pau, Sao Miguel, Açores. God rest her soul. Any recommendations?

Well, I must say that the british in particular tend to imitate Portuguese recipes in a completely indecent and insulting way.
Chicken barbeque is much simpler and doesn't have any Asian seasoning.
Salt, garlic, lemon (sometimes), white wine and wisdom. For the sauce you can or cannot add piri-piri.
Even the most known Gordon Ramsei show on television how to make one of the famous Portuguese sandwichs. It was a disgrace, as it is a shame to give visibility to a cook who is simply a stain.

I will certainly try this. I grew up eating authentic Portuguese chicken and it really was simpler.
