In this video titled EU4 A to Z - I FORMED THE MONGOL EMPIRE And It Was HORRIBLE I play as Mongolia in Europa Universalis 4 1.35 Domination. This is the series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Mongolia and I attempt to form The Mongol Empire, So, let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. Enlisted and EU4 are my favorite games. The fact Enlisted has an official ad here makes me genuinely happy. Can't recommend it enough, I discovered it literally through a similar ad and have been loving it ever since. It was the only game I genuinely enjoyed in, like, the last 10 years since the release of EU4 and CK2.
@@ThomasBarth-gr1sz Enlisted is awesome honestly, to me it's what Battlefield 5 should have been
Well Hawk it's obvious what you do as Montferrat, you have to restore Byzantium, because you have a Palaiologos on the throne.
I can't imagine any other goal
Yep it’s this
Bonus marks for converting Rome to Orthodox.
hopefully burgundy wont take him on a million war side quests lol
…while being Sunni.
Timur : I'm the prestigious heir of Genghis Khan and will restore the Mongol empire !

As a Mongol i am glad that he plays as Mongolia first time in EU4
wassup fellow mongol
Genghis khan descendant
You should see my Mongolian empire, formed in 1580 w/ good economy
y u lying mongols are like elves dey dont exist
Mongols are based just by existing
RedHawk: _Complains about not being able to take enough provinces in wars_
Also RedHawk: _Has a bunch of spare diplo points_
Also also RedHawk: _Doesn't take diplo ideas_
Yup, at the end (40:20) he acknowledged that he should have taken diplo ideas.
Tbf it’s such a wild oxymoron that diplo is such an A tier idea group for hordes, the warAlwaysTM nations
@@jackconrad4814 yeah just be careful I didn't have any problems with rebels with humanist offensive filled out but after diplo I was sitting at 300% OE
@@jackconrad4814War is just an extension of diplomacy
The first time you razed stuff, I was thinking that the game really needs a "raze all" button, cause it also annoys me having to click on every single province to do it.
Use the shortcut Z
definitely in the state view near the concentrate button
@@goawayrayy That razes one state. I want to click one button and raze every province that is possible, like you can do with cores now
would be efficient@@Quadrophiniac
@@amerashi1111for some reason, that never works for me, any ideas why?
I understand why you took humanist because if anyone remembers the Chagatai A-Z then you'll understand, its so traumatic for hawk he doesn't even remember it I've never seen so much rebels before it was crazy.
I love recent more ambitious goals for A to Z
Finally Mongolia 🇲🇳
I have never felt so conflicted watching a Hawk video - I loved watching you expand but felt the pain too.
Hawk, the reason you always have manpower issues is because attrition is killing your armies. Your stacks are way too big. Your full army should be split in two, three or fours. Then have them move next to each other. That way you can siege faster. And if there is a battle then just gather your armies, which should be nearby. Follow the logistics cap, it's usually something like 20,30,40 and so on as you get techs.
I suppose he knows this, but after 150 years he's just too bored for micromanagement and does not care at all
Yeah this is one of those things you know you CAN do but most don’t bother cause it’s just not worth the micro against bots. It’s just a dumb mechanic overall considering the AI is almost completely unaffected by it but at the same time you’ll lose almost every time unless you have a full back line of cannons, which is almost always going to be 2x or more over the supply limit.
Way more fun to stack land attrition reduction
tru that

I don't like how steppe warfare is either, it boils down to carpet siege rushes by the AI. The new world with the tribal land system might be good to implement on the steppe, reducing the number of settled provinces means that steppe soldiers will be bleeding each other dry rather than rushing for provinces. That would be an interesting mod.
38:30 dude decided to form the Roman empire off of this conquest
So good to see Red Hawk play a game into mid game time... ❤❤❤
If I'm not mistaken "Z" is the shortkey for razing so instead of clicking the button everytime to raze once you clicked on the province you can use "Z" and "C" combo to utilize the shortcuts. It's way easier and quite helpful for any horde nation.
I played Mongolia once, I recreated the Yuan Dynasty and tried the best I could to recreate the modern borders of China (with Korea as a bonus).
Mongolia is one of my favorite nations to play as. Especially this patch, you can easily expand into China.
Average mongol experience
In normal dificulty so far I use to Leeroy Jenkins Oirat by myself. You can beat their armies one by one and soon enough Ming declares on Oirat. Usually Oirat will either have no allies or just Sarig Yoqir.
I played Great Horde and formed Mongol Empire before. I was trying to get the KHAAAAAAN achievement. Although I got it at last, but it was stressful...Since the AI always target the player: The Turks always tried to screwed me and the Ming didn't explode like the 90% of time it did
Sometime, playing this game is really painful :-(
For the Ming, as a horde you need to not have thruce/tributary with them and their disaster will fire
Red hawk are you ok
Not after this video
The fact that you are not taking max money while not 100%ing or full annexing disturbs me more than it should
Watching this after having tried to play as Mongolia myself, I realise just how skilled Red Hawk is at the game and how much is still have to learn about the game
I still demand conquering Italian peninsula as Montferrat and kicking America's ass as Italian boot.
As soon as I saw the Ottomans took Offensive and Quality I had a brain aneurysm on your behalf RedHawk, I don't think I've ever seen such a disgustingly powerful Ottomans in any of my games
Ming blows up through the event "Crisis of the Ming Dynasty", which can only fire if there is no other disaster. Since Ming had "Unguarded Nomadic Frontiers" the whole time it never blew up.
Also, you can avoid the stab hit from breaking tributary by refusing to pay tribute a few times, Ming will break it on their own.
42 minutes red hawk video, this is a true masterpiece!❤
After such a hard goal for Montferrat, I'd propose something much chiller : colonize the West Antilles, relocate your capital to Montserrat (with an S), and making it the most developped city in the world.
According to Wikipedia, Montferrat is one of the most important wine-producing areas in Italy. Why not a goal of owning over half of Europe's wine provinces, and/or becoming the world's leading producer of wine?
I’m so glad I’m not the only guy who calls it Saggy Yoghurt
Spawn 100 bots in gmod then run around shooting them, that's about as much fun as Enlisted.
you inspired me to try out Mongolia(usually start as Oirats), managed to get Khaaaan with 60 months to go. :)
Could you try out the Victorum Universalis MERGED mod?
It would've been a good idea to get diplo ideas for - 20% province war score cost. It would've saved you a few unnecessary wars
RedHawk: "And I'm happy to say I will never do it again"
*Gets to Oirat*
RedHawk: 😲😧☹️
I agree with you, microing the armies is a chore.
Should just be a button to let the AI play your armies.
Why is Core Creation Cost abbreviated to CCR? "Cost" doesn't have an R in it.
r stands for reduction afaik
It stands for core cost reduction
40 minutes video, this is such a bliss
Awesome. I thought we weren't going to see you form the Mongol Empire, but here it is. Genghis Khan would be proud.
I've got a world conquest which has been "in progress" for almost a year now. I've never really done much with hordes so I decided to do a WC with Oirat, without switching tags and staying a horde the entire time. I'm now at the point where I keep alternating chipping away at the Commonwealth with chipping away at the Ottomans. I've learned a lot but it has gotten sufficiently tedious that I can only bring myself to play it for a couple of hours once every few weeks.
As Monferrat i have a challenge for you. You play until about 1550. Every 5 or 10 years, depending on how hard you want it to be, you have to declare war on the strongest neighbor that borders you. The goal is to reach the greatpowers list, where top 8 is a bronze medal, top 4 is a silver medal and top 1 is a gold medal. Anything else is normal.
If you have another plan with monferrat you can of course play this challenge another time.
What are you talking about with Mongolia not being Mongolia of Genghis Khan? It's literally the same state ruled by Borjigin(Yuan) dynasty, it's just that they lost China. And everything else, for that matter
I don't terribly mind steppe warfare. Usually you end up just stating the high dev Ming or European provinces. You can get away with letting a lot of your unstated land be sieged out as long as you do it faster and just beat back the occasional flanking army with a reserve army.
Actually microing loot is the most annoying thing imo.
Isn't Montferrat the Italian minor that can click the decision to restore Byzantium?
if it is, then you should restore Byzantium, and maybe as an extra challenge have all the provinces needed to form Rome in the Western Half of the Empire, Becoming West Eastern Rome.
>conquers all of china
>crushes massive superpowers like ottomans, CW, muscovy, timurids
>restores mongol people and culture as unquestioned supreme power of eurasia
>3rd place
I enjoyed your videos very well and appriciate it also a lot only too often I remark that your videos are quiet short for the campaign you do so here is my question to you could you make your videos longer or in copple episodes so we get also more detailled idea of amount of troops you and opponent have and we can really see better the troops you win and lose because that is not allways clear an another question is if you use all the dlc s or not because I never see you drilling troops thanks a lot and look forward to your next movie of eu 4 😊
Major A-Z W moment, thanks for the solid entertainment Hawk!
Well done think I'm the same as you, as I've never made the big Nations like the Mongol empire, Roman Empire or the Islamic caliphate.
Sorry Red Hawk, but i seriously dont understand why you never took Diplo Ideas when it should be one of your first choices for ideas lol, nice vid anyways
Did diplomatic ideas kill your dad or something? Diplomatic ideas, in this situation, is a lot, LOT better than taking 2 mil idea groups.
My first game ever after the tutorial thing was Mongolia without the DLC didn’t get anywhere…so I subscribed to the dlc package. Whenever I play as Manchu and constantly beat up Ming they don’t blow up either. I was hoping that would change with this update.
When you say “Beat up Ming” what are you actually doing. Just beating their troops is not enough to force the explosion
Best thing to make Ming explode, have of 300 dev(triggers unguarded frontier) and then when at war with Ming, force occupy their territory for a long tiem to cause a ton of devastation(lowers their mandated) and then DEFINITELY occupy *at least* 2 of the 3 key provinces - Beijing, Nanjing, and Canton(lowers mandate for each one they don't control or own). I've been able to successfully nuke Ming every game in the first war, so long as I can do that. Normally I occupy all of Northern China, including Beijing and Nanjing. Sometimes I go further, depending on how well I'm doing financially/militarily; sometimes it's better to just halt in the north, where you can more easily defend if you're too weak to push further
You complain about not as much development in the same breath as you mention razing. I think there's a correlation.
I love playing mongolia. One of my go to campaigns (Like Brandenburg into prussia, or granafa into andalusia, or byzantium) if i dont know what to play :D
Why admin as horde? Is it a meme? Go diplo for the province war score bonus and just roll over countries?
why do you give austria 3k to have them as your ally in a war when you could use those 3k much more effectively yourself
Can you pls always in the end of the video show us that you played in iron mode? Otherwise you videos doesnt have any value!!
Just a little tip, if you dont know it, you dont need to cancel tributary and loose the stab. Yoy can just refuse giving them the tribute they want a few times. Then they will break it and loose stab.
I can’t believe he mixed in infantry with a nation above 100% cav ratio and such cheap horses
I know it's not your thing, but next time show a little more of the wars/battles please 😢.
i havent watched you in months so you can imagine my suprise when i saw your bald head and magnificent mustache
i hope that eu5 doesnt have this problem with like 1090000 diffrent armies and shit
Everyone forms Byz with Monferrat. How about you form Rum as Monferrat? Lol
There's just one thing to do as Montferrat - forth Byzantium and reform Roman empire
Very satisfying to watch barring the wastelands lol. You should restore Byzantium as montefarat.
well, you just know now that the last country in the A to Z will have to be a WC now x)
The Red Hawk Episode Pain Test:

Insted of admin you should have gone for diplo for the province warscore cost
there's a reason for old (russian?) saying "never start a land war in Asia".
Hawk, are you ok? Dont you need a little rest? Are you still having fun?
When I first switched to EU4 some 2500 hours ago, Mongolia was my first playthrough😂. I was a civ 5 player thinking that "oh the mongols must be OP, should be an easy nation for beginners." Oh how wrong I was lmao
bro why WC with Austria when you can do it as the Shogun, much easier imo
For Monferat if it's possible you should reform the Kingdom of Jerusalem... The son of the Marquis of Monferat was wedded to Sibilla sister of Baldwin IV and he was supposed to take the place of Baldwin wonce the lepper King died
Wish you had restored the Roman Empire as Byzantium back in season B. Bringing the Romans back to their former glory would have been fun. Looking forward to whenever you do that! I wonder if you can be quicker than you were for the Mongols
Even though it definitely looked like a painful run, it was still very cool seeing the Mongol Empire formed. With a lot of these A to Z videos, I wonder how history would have been affected at the end of the challenges. Especially given by the end large amounts of territories were consumed into the Empire, including all of modern day China. Also curious how sustainable this empire would be given it's government by the end of the video (with Humanist/Administrative/Quanity/Quality/etc).
If you were Ludi you would have been able to full annex Uzbek in one war 😉
I've only ever formed the Mongol Empire as the Teutons, and that was probably less of a pain then this(since your armies as the Teutonic Horde are just invincible) but was still painful. Just sooo many provinces to seige and take from so many opponents.
Just come off the back of a Mewar campaign, is it just me or are Rajput regiments kinda not worth the price of admission (all the kerfuffel with the Rajput estate) in the early game? They're slow to replenish and don't seem to have too much of an early game benefit to use.
How did you make so much money? I am barely making a living (including crippling 20 corruption at this point) while doing the usual "ransom as much money as possible through war" thing.
27:25 Ironic.
Hey, were you the stuntmen double for Jim Carrey in Sonic?
Man that's so painful, when I tried to do a mongol empire run I stupidly took the mandate of heaven, messed around with religion and never took humanist ideas so I spent half of the time fighting rebels and by the 1600s I lagged way too behind in tech and I just ditched it, solid game you played :), def learned a few things
I think it's pretty obvious you have to restore Byzantium as Montferrat. Just remember to keep montferrat ideas, or else you can't do it
(Sorry
Funny timing I actually just got the khan achievement with oirat, which seems a lot easier than Mongolia, since you can declare on Ming and get tons of money right away. Must say I also hate how your economy as a horde always garbage until very late when you can earn a lot from trade
I agree with @majora1988 that you should restore byzantium with montferrat, and also take back the old borders of the eastern roman empire.
Funny seeing Haw forming the mongol empire right after I have done the same but as the Teutons. Took me about 70 more years because Korea was allied to everyone and had very strong armies.
was he even using trade companies here? kinda crazy if he wasnt
I love the videos when you do stuff noone else does like the "As Bayreuth form Italy" Video.
So as Montferrat you should try to form an moslem Great Britain.
As a horde it's better to delay teching up the military technology as much as possible because when you get a higher mil tech, you get less mana and money from razing.
I wonder if he used the same goal when he plays the Teutonic Order.
Very well done, man. I feel a little sorry for you - you obviously did not enjoy this game. It was educational though :-)
him not pressing the hotkey for razing was kinda infuriating. but i thnk this video showed why most players dont tend to play the lategame alteast not if they play wide.
38:30 forming the what? The roman empire? 😂
You can actually get ming to support your independence. You have to time it well so you can get it before ming declares for a tribute on oirat though.
You were 1 truce break away with the Ottos for the KHAAAN achiev, regardless painfully beatiful campaign :)
8:53 Building infantry as a horde 😭
I don't see why you don't release more vassals if you enjoy the vassal swarm so much. Just don't give them any counties you need.
Korea and Japan must have been terrified and confused at the same time.
maybe if you would take diplo idea it would have speed up the proces because of the 20% province war score cost reduction
