Thank you for the explanation. The whole thing makes more sense now. I was able to see Neo Japonism at an anime convention last year. I had to tell my friend I had no idea what I was getting into. I tried to talk to those crazy guys who cheer for the idols. But they were cheering so hard, it was a great time. Then I went to a Miku show this year and I will be seeing Atarashii Gakko later this year.
@@JohnSmith-fe6xk I'm the cohost of The Human Instrumentality Podcast, and we just did a season on the director Satoshi Kon. His debut "Perfect Blue" takes place in the 90s idol industry, so this video was very helpful context.
That was really interesting! I've known some artists here but I got to discovered many things and I know there's still so much more! Thank you for this presentation :D
I've heard of idols for a while now and thanks to many anime shows and the songs (plus my kids watching them), the idol genre has grown on me. Rather an interesting story And yes, I'm a fan of Babymetal
Excellent presentation.
Thank you very much for the time and effort spent putting this documentary together.

I've been meaning to do research on the Idol genre for a project I'm working on and I found this video helpful, thanks for putting this together!
Can I ask what this project is about?

Such a nice rundown.
I find the history of Idol genre to be interesting. I also find it interesting how there are a lot of Joshi Wrestlers that were/still are idols.
There's also a possibility of Vtubers entering the idol genre
