Despite the convoluted mess TF4 is, Grimlock and the Dinobots are one of the best things the live action had offered.
The diecast pieces on the weapon ends up just behind the legs of the dino mode, so I believe it was meant to be a counter weight to help with balancing since the legs are situated so far back on the dino. It does make for a weapon that's a bit too heavy, but I have been able to get it in some two handed poses without issue. I think it's one of the best Transformers figures released so far this year.
Was hoping for the OTHER highly anticipated Grimlock but oh well..

Impressive design. I myself feel that bot mode is where this fig really shines. It just looks insanel The more i watched the video the more i liked the fig.
I got this last month. Definitely worth every penny. Make no mistake, this ain't no oversized SS. Solid build and design, IMHO.

I have this and black mamba. Mamba is os SS. And it’s great. However this one is a much more accurate transformation. So amazing. And feels more heft than the upscale. Lots of metal.

I love how this figure looks but had an unfortunate quality control issue right out of the box… the plastic beam inside the chest that keeps the ratchet joints In place broke within seconds of just moving the shoulders. I mean might just be an issue on my copy but the other beam showed signs of stress even though it was right out of the packaging

One thing I don't like is how this one only has the dino head on the front. Faux parts aside, I loved how we ended up with the heads on SS

A lot of people complain about the Bayverse designs being incoherent, but I just believe those people haven’t developed object permanence.
@@_V.Va_ exactly,their is realism to their designs which leads to a very emissive aesthetic.The g1 designs are better of as cartoons,and that is severely problematic with the bumblebee movie designs. It’s a pity that grandiloquent, arrogant,G1 soy boys are inept of following basic context clues on why bay went with a more realism look,as opposed to anthropomorphic cereal boxes with morsels of attempt.
I guess I’m amongst the rarity. I have black mamba Grimlock AND Scorn and I adore both of them!
And yes Black mamba’s dinobots are DEFINITELY bigger. Emgo does a direct size comparison.

AOE and onwards seems like a big middle finger to toy designers with the robot mode displaying no recognizable alt mode parts. Studio series did their best within mainline budget, but this is something else entirely.
I agree. Just one example of this being all too true, is one thing I remember Michael Bay saying in an interview. He said something along the lines of having Galvatron purposefully and intentionally designed in such a way that it would be nearly impossible to transform in a practical manner. As much as I like his movies, it's pretty clear to me that he got tired of doing them, and it makes me wonder if he had the Autobots and Decepticons designed the way they were as somewhat of a temper tantrum for being dragged back into it......Reusing models and slightly redesigning them, and making them a designer's *nightmare* in terms of making a toy line to go along with it in an attempt to get himself canned!
I mean, I like the movies, but it's clear, if you pay attention, that his heart was less and less in it, especially by movie 4.......
Grimlock just can’t catch a break. First he was ridden by Wheelie in The Transformers: The Movie, now he’s being ridden by Optimus Prime in Age of Extinction 😔
I don’t think parts-forming is quite so bad as long as the part being transformed is a primary feature in the robot mode, which the big mace is!
This definitely size accurate with studio series (for the most part) and Devastator in particular
I’m not sure. The Prime included with this is a lot smaller than SS prime. But with Devastator I think it could work

I know it's been a while since this video was posted, but I just got my copy of this figure (I waited for the price to drop), and WOW! I've got the SS version and the Black Mamba version of this figure, and this one is hands down the best! If I could only change one thing, I'd love to have an LED feature around the eyes, but due to the transformation, I understand why that isn't possible and I'm OK with it. Just some amazing details here that really escalate this figure above all the others.
This is a absolutely beautiful figure, I might get one.

Yeah, but what saves it for me is his robot mode and texture- ugly AF. His dino mode and Optimus are perfect, but his size, robot mode and texture makes him lose to the Wei Jiang and BMB Grimlock to me.
Also, the freaking price

I like this figure alot. However, not only is he small in comparison to the BMB. He is much too pricey. Again, l love this figure. He is absolutely the best Grimlock figures ever. But, l can't see myself pulling $200+ for a figure that l doubt will appreciate.

Its nice, but I am more so shocked that no one can get his colours right. Did they not see the film?
When Prime meets him, Grimlock looks more like steel, with shiny bits in some areas and even a good bit of rust on his thighs/legs. He even has a healthy helping of that pale blue patina (I think to convey he is very old and has been locked up a long time)
The one that is the closest in colour to the film is the BMB battle-damaged version.
There should have been a slot instead of a peg on the sword or have it slide in like the Hasbro figure I think it would have been better
It could have been better if optimus can transform....but its difficult for the creators to make...but its very cool
@9:21 Aoyi Mech LS-11 Ancient (aka Oversized TLK Voyager Scorn) who’s almost as big as G-creation MTST-0 Movie Series Wrath!! (LS-11 Ancient is 37cm tall in Robt mode and 70cm long in Dino mode)
I can't justify the price due to the bot mode, I'm one of those who loves the dino mode (that's what I'll display my ss07 as most of the time) but not really the face of the robot mode
So I see a lot of these that are not marked G creations, but look exactly the same. Is it the same thing, or could their be significant quality differences ??

I am a huge critic when it comes to parts forming. This is definitely not parts forming. I see it as very creative weapons storage 😬 This is without a doubt the best Grimlock ever released ever.
