    Finally!!-Someone who knows how to tune a radio properly!!-I have watched several you tubers review the HRD and could not tune the radio properly to show it's features.He was the first one to find that the HRD also has long wave just by adding the correct antenna.Many thanks to him I am seriously considering buying one.

    I mentioned this on another channel, but I am really digging these micro portables. I have the RADDY version of this, the RF750, the RETEKESS TR105 and V115, and the CountyComm GP-7/SSB. They aren't the best in the world but for their size they do very well especially with a long wire antenna. Because the speakers are so small I use a set of KOSS QZ-99 headphones, they sound great for voice communications.

    The test is very informative and deserves thanks and recognition. Unfortunately, one crucial point has not been taken into account in the test procedure. The display of the PL 600 is a source of interference.
    If the HRD 747 comes close to the PL 600's display with its antenna, it picks up the noise. This is not a fair test. Only one radio may be in operation. If two radios are operated in close proximity with AM/SSB - demodulation, they will interfere with each other.

    • @o00scorpion00o

      The Tecsun will be a much better radio for SSB /ECSS use due to that pure clean low noise audio.
      The DSP radios all have a harshness to the audio with distortion and they cut off too much bass frequencies.
      I have had many DSP radios but I prefer my Tecsun pure analogue radio the most because of it's low noise floor and fantastic SSB audio, a true SWL DX'er radio.
      They can use DSP all they want to minimise the size of the radio but it will never help sound quality especially on SSB so I will never accept DSP as superior technology until SSB audio issues have been resolved which seems highly unlikely.

      @@o00scorpion00o The wide band front end of the 747 makes it very prone to overload and noise. Also the tiny speaker accentuates the noise. It's better using headphones. I have an HRD 747 and an XHDATA 808. The difference is very noticeable on most bands. The tiny 747 is very much a compromise with so many features in a tiny package whereas the 808 is a great portable.

    After watching your video, I got this AM antenna and although it does "activate" long wave reception (which is of little or no use at all outside Europe) it blocks the actual MW band reception! Also happens in other radios I tried it on. It seemed like a nice and cool antenna but it doesn't (at least in my case) work at all. Nice video in general though.

      There is a mismatch between frequency and reading. If there is written 14.200, in reality it is listening on 600Hz higher. RIT have to be used after every tuned SSB station.

    • @maxit-mw
      @maxit-mw 2 года назад

      Frequency coverage is the easiest part on a receiver. It does not need special tech skills to open it (or find the pcb photo online) and realize that there are no band pass filters at all.

    • @madmax2069
      @madmax2069 2 года назад

      @@maxit-mw yeah it's easy because these are all DSP based receivers, all it takes is selecting the proper DSP for the frequency coverage (but many cheap receivers use DSPs are aren't really suited for shortwave coverage but can still do it but with massive gaps in frequency coverage).
      there are far more issues than no bandpass filters.
