My description is not about the standard description of the biological half-life of tritium, or of it's pathological effects once in the body. This description applies to all biological organisms which are based upon hydrocarbon molecules. - Tritium containing water molecules in biological organisms can and do engage in exchange reactions whereby the tritium atoms is transferred from water molecules into the hydrocarbon molecules that makeup the organism. Those tritiated biological molecules can then directly disrupt those molecules, and irradiate the surrounding molecules, causing disruptions to them. Of course, when the tritiated tissues of the biological organism, be they plant, animal or otherwise, are consumed those tritiated organic compounds can become incorporated into the living tissues of the creatures up the food chain.

how about the effective half life in the body?..... coming from green peace enough said. Give us some SPECIFIC dose numbers and actual tritium release numbers. Given that it is Greenpeace I am surprised they haven't claimed that seals are being used in the reactors as fuel.

I see the USRNC website for example, where it is clearly stated: "...as a result of one or more of the causes listed below, radioactive materials (most notably tritium) have been identified in ground moisture or ground water at several commercial nuclear power plants: 1) system leaks (e.g., pipes, valves, tanks) 2) evaporation of liquids 3) condensation of vapors 4) as the result of routine, approved releases"
