Super Nintendo World is opening mid-2020 at Universal Studios Japan, just half a year from now, and we still haven't gotten any new information about the new land's flagship attraction since the groundbreaking ceremony a few years back. The Mario Kart ride will be the only attraction that will be found at every version of Super Nintendo World, including Japan, Hollywood, Orlando, and Singapore. HHN is aimed towards adults. Scary Scary, my wife, brothers, buddies, and I go every year to orlando for HHN for a week... Luigis Mansion haunted house would have to be like Disney version... they would have to make this separate park with classic monsters, how to train dragon, and nintendo a HHN for kids... that would be cool.

During the whirlpool section probably, Mario Kart 8 messes around with their music

I hope we see Lakitu appear in the ride to give us the green light, then wave the checkered flag as we cross the finish line!

I’m sure that would probably be a part of the AR feature. Unless it’s a standalone feature at the start and finish line. But I can see them doing that with the AR cuz they’d want to promote it a bunch to get people used to it and using it.

Imagine a launching system by timing the button right for a boost at the start of the race. Or useable items to hit other cars that can spin or even flip!
Im looking forward to this alot, but I'm interested in donkey kong more because of how amazing the jump track would look off-ride. My wish is that the Mario Kart attraction is at least as fast as radiator springs racers.
I think it should be 5x faster than Radiator Springs Racers.
i really hope the donkey kong ride comes to Hollywood as that's the closest one to me, it may not even be at Orlando so the us may not even get it
I can get in trouble for this lmao but oh well, the design is basically almost correct. But if you've been on the mummy ride it will be similar to that with the exception of halts, expect alot of water and air :)

I'd love to see an icy track in the vein of Sherbert Land (snowy plains with penguins, ice caves, etc.)! The icy levels were always my favorite tracks in Mario Kart. It could feature a more "slippery" feel in the rumored Drift mechanic, and be enhanced with fans blowing especially cold air.

Can confirm, AR glasses aren't just a rumor. Also can confirm, having lots of issues with them. As a matter of fact the test track is and has been up and running some time in Orlando :)
To be expected. I am sure they are trying to do the AR version of what the Spiderman ride was back in the 90’s.
Synchronizing all must be the real issue.
I was at Orlando the week after Christmas and was able to see some of the construction going on from the Pteranodon Flyers ride. As you come around the last bend, you could see a large wall filled with horizontal green pipes along a wall. Gonna be sweet!

Epic Universe is now scheduled to open in late 2024/early 2025
Hollywood has no time frame, but will under no circumstances be in 2021
and Singapore hasn't even begun construction yet
If Disney world brings back Mr Toad, the reality glasses need to be included to look like motorcar goggles!
That's a superb idea!! Honestly a more immersive, less "scare house"-ish remake of Mr Toad's Wild Ride would be amazing with AR glasses.

It's too bad dynamic attractions came out with their dual powered attraction so late. Would be a great version of this ride.
I thought that universal was rumored to work with dynamic on this ride system but they opted for a different version instead? Therefore dynamic started selling to third parties as universal backed out. Still a possibility that this is the dynamic system though?

Thank you for this break down. I do wish they used the Dynamic Attractions. My only worry is the track will show and kind of ruin the immersive environment but I do know Universal will still make a great ride regardless.

Brandon Ortiz good point. That would be a perfect implication. I cant wait for this to open. It’s a perfect middle ground for Nintendo fans and new fans to experience this legend of a game.
That's what I was thinking the were going to use. Kind of shocked that they aren't using Dynamic Attractions, as what they came up with seemed perfect for a Mario Cart ride.

Not a big fan of cloud top to volcano to rainbow. Volcano is too derivative of bowsers part and going up then down and then up again doesnt have the same feeling as going to the sky and then to space. I would cut the volcano part, join cloudtop with rainbow and from rainbow you fall into a classic mario circuit at night (from 8) that then goes into bowser's castle station.
Im actually surprised theres no mario circuit in the track, seems like a strange omission. I can understand not having peach gardens circuit as the castle is already referenced as the entrance of the park, but no classic mario circuit seems strange.
And i know this would never happen but Waluigi Pinball as a scene would have been great.
I really hope that at least the music of each scene is similar to the mario kart 8 tracks they seem to be using as reference. I need the sax from dolphin shoals in the background while i blast outside of the water whirlpool, same with the galaxy music on the cloud top transition.

I'm imagining that they'll use something like the Indiana Jones ride vehicle to simulate jumping over stuff, drifting, etc.
I can imagine the s&s axis coaster working for Mario kart being able to maneuver in so many directions

It sounds cool and all but the idea of it not being trackless sounds like a poor implementation of the concept. If someone throws an item at you, (like a banana peel) then you can't drive around it. Well, let's hope for the best.

This ride would be a perfect fit for Disney’s Test Track ride system. Obviously Disney’s patented ride system is not gonna happen, but if it’s not going to be trackless (the best option), I think that would have been a good substitute.
Otherwise, all this talk about making the ride “appear” fast means it will be more like Mr. Toads Wild Ride, rather than a high speed adventure.
Don't forget the drifting.. in the latest ad it's shown to be there which should be quite the rush.

I think Mario kart is an attractive ride, and one that would easy fun for the whole family. I hope they don't pull everything from Mario Kart 8's original track lineup though. Mario kart has a wealth of amazing tracks across many different games. It would be stupid to not dive in and try to use some of them. I know they'll never make everyone happy by including their favorite track, but they need to at least spread the wealth to tell the older fans that they care about the timeline. All that being said.... I'm crossing my fingers for DK Mountain.
Maybe for a Kids Zone for ages 6 and under there could be something like Yoshi’s Island.

Some of the patents do show some type of interactive controls for all 4 seats, yes. Not sure how that will work though.

VIDEO GAME. which is what Mario Kart is, right? if you could just sit and do nothing while looking around and seeing Mario characters that would be pretty disappointing and would defeat the purpose of what Mario stands for.

I wouldn't be suprised if the ride vehicle incorporated some kind of motion base like the Spider-Man/TRANSFORMERS ride vehicles. I do wonder how they'll get the sense of speed on this. And I HOPE there will be some real-world sets too and its not 99% screens.

Hollywood will open soon, but only with Mario Cart. When epic universe in Orlando opens, we'll have Mario Cart, donkey Kong and Yoshi, Japan will have Mario Cart and Yoshi.

Universal is very reserved when it comes to their new attractions. I don't know exactly how I feel about that, as it has some ups and downs (for example, low info means much intrigue, but it makes it harder to keep up consistent hype, and fans will have to dig info themselves). Nevertheless, this looks like it will be a great addition to the parks.
As long as it’s not like Fast and Furious ride which is God-awful it should be good. I wish they would have done something more like a Hagrids bike to make it ACTUALLY fast but... we’ll see

I feel that the Mario Kart Ride should be like Test Track 2.0, but way more intense (like vehicle rocking, spinning, and inverted loops!). A classic busbar dark-ride attraction sounds pretty dull to me.

Hopefully they will include a “Super Mario World” style ride/playground, I REALLY want to feel like I am in that game in order to be satisfied with the new land.

I can't wait to see how this interacts with the 3DS! They said handhelds would be interactive, and the 3DS is a handheld, thus, it'll interact with these parks!

I actually didn't know there was going to be a Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Singapore. Is there going to be one at the upcoming Universal Studios Beijing in China?
As of now Beijing has no plans to add Nintendo attractions. Singapore announced they were getting Nintendo earlier this year, as part of a larger investment of the overall resort, but they have not announced an opening date.
The whole exterior of the Mario area looks so bad, it looks more like the Little People Fisher Price toys than Mario.
