Fr. Columba, I started following your podcasts a few months ago. What resonates with me as you expound on the Word and especially in this post on Not Conforming to our age is basically what it takes to be a Kingdom Christian; and not a cultural Christian. It’s a truth that rings loud and clear. Thank you
Father I don’t have any money to give but I can give you this: You’re a light shining ever brighter each day in this otherwise dark world & God Bless You this day and everyday.
Wow. That was a surprisingly powerful metaphor. Not only did it teach me an important lesson about how to live as a Christian, but it made respect my thermostat’s integrity.
Peace cane to me when I stopped caring about what people might be thinking of me, that's not say I don't care, I do, but it seperated me from the majority of people and the damaging influences they carry. We can't fix this world but God helps those that help themselves, so I opted for God and life has never been better. Peace.!
Absolutely loved ANOTHER of your videos!!!! Binge watching your videos while cleaning house, carrying around my iPad while watching, is my favorite way to get the house cleaned👍🏻👍🏻❣️🙏🏻
I’m busy chopping up a bunch of cabbage for home-fermented sauerkraut, so the salt part of Fr. Columba’s excellent talk stuck out for me. I know fermented veg needs salt, but why, I wondered? And would understanding the why add anything to Jesus’ statement from the Sermon on the Mount? Here’s what I found: Salt is very important from a safety perspective. You have no control over the mix of good and bad bacteria in your veg and, on their own, the good ones will not always overwhelm the bad ones. Salt favors the good ones (i.e., lactobacillus), which is adapted to the saline environment in our guts, so adding it to the culture helps them to thrive and overwhelm the nasties, preventing putrefaction. Salt also draws water out of the cells of the veg and hardens the pectin, which gives the kraut more crunch. And it discourages yeast, which can give a boozey flavor to the veg. Sooooo … it’s very beneficial to have spiritually salty people in the ferment of our culture. (Ha ha … see what I did there?) The cool thing is that ‘kraut only needs 2% salt. Just think what that means for how vital our role is, if only we will be truly salty?!
Like you Father, Prayer is my favourite way to highlight this “conformity” aspect we all battle day to day. For me, confronting our Lord’s Holiness in prayer is the light that penetrates my soul so that I may share it and “conform” the world to me, not me to the world. 😅 Lord have mercy on us all. 🙏 Thank you Father you help me “conform” my life to Christ. 😊
This is literally why I canceled my Netflix/TVMA, AS I saw too much things that weren't God Honoring and I have my limits! Boundaries are important, having Godly friends are important! Wow this guy nailed it!
Of course, Father, I enjoyed as always your insights!!! Your images of the thermostat and the thermometer brought back memories. A memory of my Dad. We lived in a very cold climate, and I mean cold. There were ten of us.....my poor Dad was forever saying when we left the door open as we went out the door....."What are you trying to do, heat the great outdoors?" He was thinking $$$. We didn't get it then, we do now! 😊💖 🙏
2Cors2:15 What a beautiful Word, we are to be a sweet smelling aroma of Christ,a perfume, reminds me of the story of Jesus being anointed at Bethany in Simon the Pharisees house and how that aroma permeated the room, and pointing to the truth that even in death Jesus was and is a fragrant offering that has never perished ,the stench of death does not behold the living. Speak life, proclaim Jesus and his life, what a beautiful name it is the name of Jesus. I'm so thankful to come by your encouragements, and sharing you with friends, you are so humble, very beautiful is Christ in you,the hope of His Glory
As an American I can honestly say I’m at no risk of setting a thermostat to 25 degrees. God bless everyone, and let’s stay salty and season the world with the love of Christ our Lord.
Hi William, thanks for the kind words. Yes, Fr Columba is a Catholic priest and a member of a religious order called the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. Glad you’re enjoying this series!
Best advice more than anyone say Read and know your Bible Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said himself mediate on his words People rely on what people says rather than to read and know the precious words of God
@@ctmcatholic Traditions the Jewish people still have their traditions and other religions also and they are so far from God Read Jerimah 44.17 19.25 I would strongly advise anyone I once followed this tradition and was lost Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said himself I am the way the truth and the life no one can come to the Father except through me People who think are Christian disagree with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and claim there are many ways to Our Father in Heaven which is unbiblical Do do not need to know the Hole Bible this simple speech I am the way the truth and the life no one can come to the Father except through me I believe it and I put my trust in it If it's in the Bible you want it if not you don't want it it's that's simple
A very simple request... Could the gain/volume be turned up a bit on these original recordings? When I listen in the car, even at max volume they are not quite loud enough.
We are looking to update our recording equipment soon and hopefully that will help! At the moment the volume is turned up as loud as a Rode Lav+ mic can seem to take. Thank you for the request.
My downfall is that I don't mind getting into someone's face if I think they are doing wrong. I spoke out today about the church not offering wine with communion today. If holy water can cast out daemons why are we not offering wine? What is wrong with us as a church? We are not showing the light of God, we are not showing the right way for the world to follow. It is our fault for not standing up to the man and the ways of the world.
The thermometer example didn't work for me as an engineer :) A thermometer tells us a truth about the surrounding, a good thing in my opinion. In fact, a thermostat has a kind of thermometer built in and it reacts on the reading by turning the heating on or off in order to keep the desired temperature. Without knowing if the surrounding is too hot or not it can't function.
Father, If you send me your address! I would be happy to send you donations!!! For some reason my bank that Handel's my Soc. Sec. Checked won't Let me due Pay Pal's !
Hi Carolee, thank you so much for your kind offer to donate. If you’re interested in donating to our channel here at Called to More, can you please email me at katie@calledtomore.org? That would help us continue to make these videos with Fr Columba. Thank you! Katie
Not saying it actually works but....with in Judaism is the thought that a person becoming stricter or more orthodox should not be interfered with. Yet it seems experience only allows an individual to be as "extreme" as the average. The more orthodox or conformed a person is the more that person s a thorn to others and is easier to ridicule than lift up. On one hand a trusted spiritual guide or counselor is needed buy they also must be a wise and trained and full of the Spirit Good luck all

You’re very welcome. Thanks for sticking around since the early days!
I like this message. it really spoke to me.

You're videos are very calming and easy to follow. I wish I had your level of spirituality with the lord. Are you a catholic priest?
Hi William, thanks for the kind words. Yes, Fr Columba is a Catholic priest and a member of a religious order called the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. Glad you’re enjoying this series!
Best advice more than anyone say
Read and know your Bible
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said himself mediate on his words
People rely on what people says rather than to read and know the precious words of God
Scripture is absolutely key! Tradition as well but not to the exclusion of Scripture!
@@ctmcatholic
Traditions the Jewish people still have their traditions and other religions also and they are so far from God
Read Jerimah 44.17 19.25 I would strongly advise anyone I once followed this tradition and was lost
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said himself I am the way the truth and the life no one can come to the Father except through me
People who think are Christian disagree with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and claim there are many ways to Our Father in Heaven which is unbiblical
Do do not need to know the Hole Bible this simple speech
I am the way the truth and the life no one can come to the Father except through me I believe it and I put my trust in it
If it's in the Bible you want it if not you don't want it it's that's simple

Perhaps you could pray for greater patience in those situations.
So the secret ingredient was Jesus all along!
Always is! :)

Haha oh dear, don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story as the Irish would say 😅
I’m sure if you let all that go you will find the pure message given from Father’s heart🙏🏻
