    One thing about tig welding with AC is that it really chews up your gas lens. I will normally swap over to a standard collet body for that reason.

    Tiging aluminum you need to clean, clean, clean. Aluminum oxidizes in the air. You can't really see it but there's a thin layer of oxidation on the aluminum. If you hit it with a stainless steel wire brush really good on each surface you are welding together right before you weld it'll melt in easier. Don't do it too far ahead of welding it though as the are will oxidize it again in less than an hour. And balling your tungsten in DC first helps alot also.

    another tip, a balled point will have you weld better, so switch to DC positive and quickly slam the pedal to get a balled point, then switch back to AC, welds will come out much cleaner and less resistance, also if your machine allows it, change the hertz/ AC frequency, the higher the frequency the narrower your arc is, the lower the frequency the wider your arc is.

    Aluminum welding is not easy. If it where, you would be stacking dimes. It’s harder than stainless and mild steel. No disrespect, just saying.

    Sad to say if you go to welding school and you have no contacts you pretty much wasted time and money cause your not gonna get those big jobs. Everybody always say “you gotta go look for contacts” yea easy to say when you walk in those center st jobs offices and they’re close and they are literally going to tell you “no we are not hiring at the moment” when it’s totally BS cause they are looking for people but it’s just you don’t have nobody in the inside… wish new students would know about this.. welding schools only care about the money and don’t tell them the reality cause if students knew they will not get money in all a scam

      You’re right man wish I knew that when I started, I know every welding process and can pass the big tests but I don’t have contacts

    • @arc-show1787
      @arc-show1787 2 года назад +4

      what about if you have the contacts but not the knowledge? our school have put at least 70% off the student on a job.. is not scam, before you go into a welding school you should do a research and see what they offer. Good luck finding a job

      Sad to say but that's just Life in general, there's a saying: in life you'll get further on who ya know then what ya know! Unfortunately in this case it's true like 75% of the time. Have actually even herd of false positive you on the drug test (yet your really clean) so you go asap somewhere else get tested just to double check/proof your clean! Even if you come out clean I still say there's only a 10% chance they'll hire you. At least (hopefully) you can clear your name though and hopefully one day you'll find someone that's really hiring rookies. Remember majority times in real world it's not what ya know but who ya know that'll really take you places.

      A school offers knowledge, it's up to the student to expand that knowledge to experience, and if the student is open minded, he/she can also focus on networking as well with other welders.
