Naira is very weak now but till around 1984 a dollar wasn't up to one naira.The exchange rates started nose-diving from the structural adjustment program (SAP) under Babangida when naira was devalued. Up till this moment of the worst President ever in Nigerian history, Buhari 1$ now equals #480, 1pound is coasting to #700 and euro having a nice time. Sad !!!

I’m so happy for this video, this is evidence that my country Nigeria 🇳🇬 was once a great country and your Dad witness and lived through it. Your Dad is such a nice man and speak from his heart, and also he’s blessed with a beautiful woman, a wife and a mother. As for Nigerian 🇳🇬 politicians they will all die in shame. As a Nigerian living in the United States 🇺🇸 I’m not very proud to call myself a Nigerian because of the stigma attached to that name. WOW! I was watching the video in which you showcased your dad. If a child shows honour to the dad, he or she receives blessings. I am a Nigerian living in the diaspora and I have the same as your dad, and also have a daughter that lives London and most likely be the same age like you. I loved this interview with your dad. It's interesting how he wasn't willing to discuss his life initially but eventually opened up. In true African fashion, the elders talk when they're ready to, not when you prompt them to. Lol. You can see how fluid the cultures of West Africa are. Younger West Africans need to learn this from their grandparents. Much respect and truly a learning narrative. Glad to hear Nigeria come up in your family history too. Big ups to Togo.

The best thing you are doing is learning about your roots and allowing your kids to learn and embrace their roots. I would like to learn about my African roots but have no idea where to start due to slavery. But I am definitely going to start with Ghana. One of my dearest friend is from Ghana and am hoping to plan a trip with her sometime next year. God bless!
If you dont have african parents or an African American then you can start with DNA test. Iam sure the result can help tell you where in Africa you come from.

I am a Cameroonian based in the USA, the football history is on point. The match btw Cameroon & Argentina made FIFFA to increase the number of African teams to the world cup from 5 to 7 .
That's heavily false! Africa is still represented by five countries in the world cup. It was only different when South Africa hosted, and we had one extra because South Africa the host should qualify automatically by default.
@@whyte_fyre No, it is not heavily false. It's only slightly wrong. And the only wrong thing is about the numbers. We used to have 1 slot and then 2 slots. After the Cameroonian exploits it was increased to 3. Later we gained 2 more slots when the number of countries participating in the world cup finals was increased.
To be honest with you,the most funniest Cameroonian footballer was Makanaky anytime he kicks a ⚽️ ball,you can see him praying for the ball to go into the post.during the 1990 Fifa world cups

Ana, your sentiments about the language are very valid. My children are of mixed ethnic backgrounds, and it is very challenging to speak the native language with them subconsciously because their dad only speaks English. So they speak English as their main language because of school, their dad etc. it’s so much easier and automatic and default to speak English with them. There is no one else to reinforce the native language unfortunately. It was my intention to teach them but hasn’t worked out. Cut dad some slack 😜

Your father is a solid Man that lived through Nigeria. Nigeria Currency was heavier than USA Dollar in 1983 when l moved to England. l was twenty years old and just ran away from Home to England by stealing my father money. l grew up in Ibadan but l was always in Lagos when l had long vacation in High School. l attended Olivet Baptist High School in Oyo. My family moved from Ghana, Kumasi back to Nigeria in 1971. When you play FOOTBALL from youth, your immune system will forever be solid. l have being living in USA since 1990 when l moved from London. ------ Osollo.

Ana girl I can relate. I am afull Ghanaian born and raised in Europe and my parents didnt even bother teaching me EWE. I can speak it a little bit. Many African parents have made this mistake in the past when it comes to teaching their native tongue to their kids that are born abroad. I will be making a video highlighting this in my diaspora series on my channel

Wao. I'm born in Ghana, grew up in Togo, lived 7 years in Germany but living in the United States now since 2004, now building my dream house in Ghana, I never come home without crossing the border to spend few weeks in Togo. Like your dad said it plainly Togo and Ghana there is no difference. I love the interview so much. Thanks for telling us your story!
