Greatest alive whether it be 1973 or today. This isn't a difficult effect but none of that matters. Spend 15 minutes with him and you'll KNOW you're seeing the best. I have had the chance. I've worked with the best of the best and Tamariz is a legend. God among kings.

The funny thing is, guys best trucks aren't even on RUclips. Ive seen him live and the live tricks are astounding, but you are not aloud tho film them if they're his best work. He did a routine one time I remember, the applause lasted for probably a few minutes! Longest applause I ever heard!

Wizard of Wizards dude what kind of stupid question is this, he just fucking said that they didn't allow filming so it's obvious that he was watching him live, like come on you can't be that dumb.

I saw him at magic-con one year and there were probably 200 magicians surrounding him. What I saw, despite reading his books, and despite learning as much as I can from Dani Daortiz the last 4-5 years…I look back and am still baffled. Him and Dani have made a living fooling magicians. At least 4 magicians (that I’m aware of) from Spain who learned from Juan fooled Penn & Teller. Truly the greatest mind in card magic ever

@@thiscommetwastyped8695 His best stuff is in his books. Once you’ve studied one, you have enough material for a lifetime…and he’s written 5 that I’m aware of.
If any magicians see this, PLEASE lmk if there’s more than that out there. I can’t absorb enough Tamariz and Daortiz material!!!

You can slow it down and you still can't see how he does it so he's obviously the devil. This bloke really is amazing and can't believe he hasn't been seen more on tv.

far from it, doing a bunch of tricks that use stacks and gaff cards is not impressive at all.

      +Larry Mitchell
You totally missed the point. Forte is not a magician, he's a card mechanic. Apples and oranges.
Of course Forte and Turner are far better in that regard than Tamariz (Juan wouldn't disagree with that) but both of them would agree without hesitation that Tamariz is the waaaaay better magician.
Take the words of R. Paul WIlson who has studied and practiced with all three (Turner, Forte and Tamariz) , who also thinks that Tamariz is the best living magician (As does Helder Guiamares and many many others). He's forgotten more about magic than most of us will ever learn.
Personally I don't think the "best" magician exists. It's a matter of taste, like almost everything.
It's perfectly ok if you doesn't like his style and I can totally understand his presentations and persona is not everybody's cup of tea, but questioning the authority of one of the greatest minds in magic ever is a bit over the top.
I've also seen him live and he wasn't just good. This was the greatest magic experience I've ever had...by far.
Alongside with David Williamson and Pop Haydn, he's my favorite magic performer.

    • @larrymitchell8640

+Zeddicus1976 I have heard he performs different in sessions with other magicians, if I had a chance to see this, maybe I would change my mind, but watching him perform to layman I dont see anything that fools me, and the theatrics after performing simple sleights are over the top IMO. There are so many great card magicians to say he is the undisputed best, he would have to blow my mind with something. Many great card magicians, and some of the best aren't even professional magicians such as Persi Diaconis and Steve Freeman , and among pros Bill Malone, Lennart Green, Dani Daortiz, Harry Lorayne, Darwin Ortiz, Guy Hollingsworth.
What does Tamariz do to make him better than any of the cardmen I listed, because I haven't seen it, do you have a link I can watch?

anyone who appreciates good slight of hand cannot compare Tamariz and Green in saying one is better than the other. They are both very creative and both occupy top spaces in the world of card magic. They both have very different styles and are both respected. People who throw quips out there and act like they know something by throwing a famous name out there and going "HE'S BETTER!!!" really are missing the whole point and have no understanding, or true appreciation for the top contributors of this interest. And, there are others, just as fantastic as Green and Tamariz, but for some reason, people always throw Green out there to compare everyone too, and sadly it shows their lack of knowledge in top magic performers. Green is the tip of the iceberg, there are so many amazing magicians out there, you just have to show some interest and learn.

Just in cards....man,Tamariz,Green,Turner,England,Ortiz (1 and 2),Jay,Elmsley,Bebel,and I didnt mention 5-10 equally good ones.Wtf is about Green vs "other"? Theres at least 15 top notch card magicians at any point. And those are just known ones.Id bet my left nut theres at any time just a little bit smaller number of unknown or locally known guys.

I remember when he turned a table in to 100 decks of cards then them cards into a piano then the piano into 1 ace of spades then turned the card around and it was a key used the key scratched a card box dropped the box and then it turned into a drink said he wasn't thirsty but had no table to put it down so turned it into a pack of cards.

Larry, you clearly know nothing about magic. Tamariz is the greatest master alive. His magic is WAAAAY more than gimmicks and gaffs. He is the most influential magician since Dai Vernon. ANY professional magician will tell you that. Go watch him live. Watch him sit on the floor of the hotel in the hall and teach a group of 7 year olds a classic when no one else is even around. He is a master of theory beyond that of anyone else living. I would challenge you to name someone alive who has done more for magic than him...

When you sit and workshop with Tamariz as I have, you quickly realize that no other man alive has dedicated his life to this art form in a greater way. It is NEVER about the effect. It is always about the artist and the audience. Tamariz could blow your mind with something as simple as the glide. While I respect Harry Lorayne a ton, he simply will never be the performer that you see here. Knucklebusting moves are great in the right context, and Tamariz can do nearly anything, but that alone does not make a great magician. There simply is not another great magician alive who hasn't learned a thing or 2 or 500 from Tamariz. I encourage you to workshop with him if you ever get the chance.

"you quickly realize that no other man alive has dedicated his life to this art form in a greater way." I agree with part of your statement but i have to disagree with part of it. There ARE other magicians that have dedicated themselves just as much as Tamariz. Secondly, Harry Lorayne is no lesser of a card worker off the back of the way he presents his magic. Its a matter of taste.

What is so impressive about him? I just don't get it? He acts so nutty and over excited all the time it is hard to watch.
I guess for a layman it is entertaining but when you know the tricks and have to watch 2 or 3 mins of acting stupid it is over the top.
