Sehr gutes Video Christian! 😊
Thanks Chris,, 👍👍
1:31 I've talked to BMW about them implementing charging speed and they said it's been forwarded to the proper department, so hopefully iDrive8 EV's will show true charging speed in a future update.
My specific request was to add the kW speed in a number above the charging bar that is currently there, it's the same concept as the state of charge in iDrive8. it's a bar from 0-100% but it also shows the current charge which at 1:35 is 97%.
"it's been forwarded to the proper department" is just a polite way to say "Yeah fuck off"
@@Sartheris well BMW literally just added the exact feature I requested in the July OTA update for the i4 and iX.
@@jeppewerring that's actually surprising, well done
great review as always, did you notice the X50M rear wheel steering during your road test,
suspension upgrade against the X40 noticeable ??
i think there is a luggage load net in the storage bin ?? not sure if standard, some seem to show during reviews.
I have a gripe , if it’s a SUV, with this range, you would tend to load up the rear, why have the charging leads in the under floor boot space! When its raining in the UK (always), you would have to empty the boot, or have then floating lose, if range top up needed.
Did not notice steering, turning circle was good.
suspension felt the same.
Chances are you won't be using the cord on a road trip unless you're in an emergency situation or you're at your destination where you may have already unpacked anyways. However, if there's a need, you could just remove the cords from the floor and leave them on the top of the bin at the back of the trunk. You could instead put less critical items under the floor.
You have to keep your hand on, hold the indicator for 4 or 5 blinks and as long as you keep your hand on it doe change
I know, it is in the video that I found it.
Great Winter Range.
Not far off Bjørn's EQS 580
Heating controls/menues is a letdown. Why such complexity is needed?! With regards to range was expecting more progress. Though, i like the interior, and the exterior is growing on me
370 km range…would be interesting to know what that would be under winter conditions 🤣
This is why I think Germany will end up with speed limits on all autobahns. Drop the speed to 120km and range takes a big leap up.
Hello. The BMW iX 40 and iX 50 are 4WD double engine.
Yes they are
Would you rather recommend the iX or the Model Y?
Depends what you like. Comfy and easy iX
Sporty, harsh and direct steering Model Y
I don't know what to say... 2 id4 = 1 bmw... At price... Maybe if you don't work for money you can buy one... But it is almost like a Porche...
Es difícil aparcar bien, centrando el coche en la plaza? 🤔
No, it has an amazing 360 degree camera that shows the distance to all objects
@@BatteryLife era ironía. Ha faltado poco para que te metieses en la plaza de al lado 😅
Massive consumption…would be interesting how that works in winter conditions
For Germany that is winter. Dry road and colder would be better.
It's 2 C... 35 F. That is winter! It can certainly get colder though. And he's driving 130 km/h! (81 mph)
Ich finde den Verbrauch recht gut, so ein deutsches Auto ist auch sicher von der Haptik und Isolierung großartig
Was ich nicht verstehe. WARUM 2-fache Geschwindigkeitsanzeige? Platzverschwendung ohne Mehrwert. Hat das 8 eckige Lenkrad einen beziellen Sinn?
To achieve lower range with 105kWh compared to a ~70kWh Tesla Y takes a serious engineering effort :) Well done BMW!
That's not really fair though. He drove the Model Y in perfect summer conditions with no AC and summer tires. Do that in the iX and you'd easily get 450km. On the contrary if you drive the Model Y at 2 degrees, winter tires and heater on you're also not getting the 380km he got out of it. Probably sth around 300km.
@@MadDaCube Surely somebody will drive both cars at the same time under the same conditions an the truth will be revealed. You know, in the long run, the truth will always surface.
@@vitavacek3483 Yes and the truth will be that your claim is wrong because we already know that EVs consume much more in the cold with winter tires and heater on. Cheers :)
@@MadDaCube lol this car won't be efficient even once summer season is upon us
@@Scrap-press I never said that but 23-24kWh should be possible which means 450km
In the wet? Canˋt see any wet roads.
Was I wrong? I will look again. I thought it was wet. Busy weekend. Sorry!
@@BatteryLife no big deal:)
Hello there and thank you for this real life test. So they lied and they lied badly!
I don't think so.
In the summer without heat. 450km should be easy.
@@BatteryLife yes but it is not 600 and something right 🤔
My astra has factory specs with has consumption of 5,8L/100km but in real world it has 7,7L/100km combined.
But the difference is not big eneough as the difference you have with the BMW
And one more thing, in the bideo you mentioned you only had one uphill right. Now imagine driving it up the hill, downd the hill and that all the way for 200-300km
I believe the battery will be dead at 250km
@@zdravo4 Why, it has big recuperation from two motors. Remember the ID.3 Pro S did over 600 km in the Alps over numerous mountain passes.
@@abraxastulammo9940 according to it’s specs the range is 630km, and on the test it made almost half of it right 🤔
@@zdravo4 Just wait for the summer 90 km/h test to make it comparable.
Not watched yet. I'm guessing 398 km....
Close
Meaningful video! But what is the reason of switching off climate? Do you drive normally in any car with only one climate zone on? Or you always choose “eco” mode in yr gasoline vehicle?)))) presume in real winter with minus temperatures the range will be not more than 200-250km… big pricey toy)))
I do that with every range test. Comfortable temp but as low consumption as possible.
@@BatteryLife understood, thx) i actually pre ordered this car but later decided to cancel it since as i can see even in very light conditions the range is absolutely not serious… and speaking about electric car tests, we all want to understand their real capabilities in real life, without "infringing" our lifestyle while driving…😉. Otherwise it’s a bit tricky… like, turn off climate, use flat roads, do not overtake, don’t listen to the music too loud etc…
Geez, massive consumption, as expected...just brute force it with big pack... Oh well, guess there's a market for that...
Thank you for your work 📸
That consumtion is actually really really good for 2 degrees celsius in 130km/h! Thats the same consumtion as i get with my etron 55 when driving to work now with average speed of 75km/h and temp is around 0 degrees celsius.
@@Aizman87 true, etron 55 is the king 👑 of inefficiency 😁... So not that bad for ix. It's just different universe compared to Tesla ...
@@DG-uv3zw true hehe. well what did the model x get in consumtion with the same speed and temperature? Im guessing not that far off if not the same.
@@Aizman87 very hard to make 1-1 comparison. Also avg speed was more 120 then 130! We have model Y in 16c at 120 - 200Wh. Model X (outdated) in summer around 220Wh... New model X with heat pump could do winter 120 easily at ~250Wh
Bare in mind IX is more comparable in size to MY then MX. MY is only shorter but mainly because IX has bigger hood!?! Interior space is better in Y...
@@DG-uv3zw Okay. However model y is much smaller than ix and alot lighter and i my mind really not comparable. Model x is very like ix in size, weight and price so that is the right comparison.
so a Kona will spank it, got it.
Not in those conditions.
@@BatteryLife true but the battery is nearly 2x bigger on the BMW.
64 to 105.
What a waste of resources. i hope you had fun though :)
What about a haircut before the next video...?
Too beautiful for that
It's a shame that one of the first range tests is done in the winter, and especially at 130 km/h (81 mph). Not that there's much choice about the temp at time of testing. A lot of people still don't understand how much cold weather and speed impacts an EV's range and they may compare this range to cars that were tested in warmer months at slower speeds. Say at 113 km/h (70 mph) and at 22C (70F). It's just an overall bad look. If you don't understand what I mean, EV range is HEAVILY impacted by the large amount of energy it takes to artificially produce heat, whether that's to heat the cabin or heat the battery. The higher the delta between the outside temperature and the cabin temperature, the more energy needed. However, even more than that is the impact of aerodynamics at high speeds. As a vehicle travels faster, the aerodynamic forces acting upon it increase exponentially. Cold weather increases air resistance, magnifying the issue. That's especially bad in a vehicle with a large front surface area, such as the iX. Its lower drag coefficient certainly helps mitigate this a bit, but there's only so much that can do.
Guys saying Tesla Model X has more range... really???? Acording to Nylad Model X has 402 km range on SUMMER at 120km!!!! While iX gets 370km in winter!!!! Their range is not even close!! Have you guys remember how off teslas are reporting consumption... and their range at winter fades like air!!! So we should think twice when we compare EVs... is not good to relay on urban myths etc...
Oohh,.. very ugly,..
Real life range is pathetic!
Yet ANOTHER kilometer-speak video. Ugh. Would it kill you to include conversion subtitles???? RUclips is an AMERICAN CREATION. Please respect it's native origin and stop speaking in that European measurement crap
Ending chart has miles too
@@BatteryLife Nice summary chart, easy to find in the video and very comprehensive; USA driver.
