In a four-week summer series, Adult Education at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis is exploring what happens between the Older Testament and the Newer Testament. This is part four and it focuses on "Apocalyptic Writings" and the Winds of Change.
The books of Daniel and Revelation are not the only ancient texts that include wild expectations about future transformations and divine intervention. Much Jewish literature held out hope for a changed world, with God as the One who would make the changes. What does this literature say about the hopes of ancient people and their struggles? How did it shape expectations about a coming Messiah? How does this literature illuminate the politics and society of Jesus’ time?
