Death Note was an almost perfect show. They just killed L off too early. Everything after L's death was just not the same anymore. L should have died and lost to Light just as he did, but the show should have gone straight into the finish with L's father and the rest of the team figuring it out.

And yes, he should just tell Misa that he doesn't want to have sex. That would be the more honest thing to do.
