One of Light’s major faults is that he was obsessed with the idea of HIM/Kira being the one to kill Near. Just think about it, at the time of the ending, most of the world had accepted Kira’s will as law. Meaning law enforcement/military branches would follow his commands. All light had to do was contact the country’s leader, and make it clear that there will be a group of people in this warehouse at this time. And that one of those people is Light Yagami. Kira could then just order the leader to send people to ensure that every person in that warehouse is killed except Light Yagami, who is to be escorted to a safe location of Kira’s choosing. Light would never have to reveal his identity as Kira. All the political leaders would know is that Light Yagami is being protected by Kira for some reason. They’d have no idea that they just helped Kira kill all his opponents. What would happen? During the confrontation, Near would have no evidence because Light wouldn’t need to have bothered with the whole convoluted plan. And even if X-Kira did mess up and reveal things by writing Takada’s name, it wouldn’t matter. Even if Near convinced every person in the room that Light is Kira. A death squad/special forces squad would converge on the warehouse, breach and gun down every person. Light could just shout to them that he is Light Yagami, the person they’re supposed to ensure the safety of. They’d kill every other person before they could explain anything. Then light could just sneak the Death Note from the detective’s body and from Near and then be escorted out to a safe location. Problem solved SUPER easily. Light had far more options and resources than he bothered to use. He had a psychological need to be the only one to beat and kill Near and that led to his death. Simply using the military/political resources he has as the figure Kira could have solved it. He could even have just not bothered to show up, have the military air strike the entire block when Near shows up, then simply use a hidden scrap to kill the task force members since he knows their names. There are far more solutions than these that’s re simple but never were employed. It’s what I’d have done if I was Kira. I wouldn’t have a childish desire to “prove” I’m better to Near. I’d be happy to cheat or use underhanded ways to kill him. The world being cleansed is far more important than my own ego or getting one over on an enemy. But that’s just me, Light was far more arrogant and narcissistic.
@@endarus6053 Indeed. Especially coupled with his large intellect. It almost made him need to use overcomplicated convoluted plans and schemes to prove his own intelligence. It’s almost as if a dumber Kira would have been better. As they would’ve went for the more obvious solutions instead of being lured into a battle of wits to prove who’s better. As L said, he is childish and hates losing. It’s obvious Light is completely unable to deal with things not happening as he expects because it’s rarely happened to him before. A ‘normal’ person would be far more familiar with such failure and would be better able to handle it. In other words, his vast intelligence was almost a detriment as it contributed to his massive ego and superiority complex.
"Kira would be protecting Light for some reason" Yeah, I don't see the problem about the fact that ALL the special police force snd the team of Near were killed except Light to be suspicious at all. Like it's completely imposible to add 3 and 2 and deduce that Light is Kira there.
@@DarthFhenix55 You think so? I’m not sure. The SPK weren’t exactly well known. It was basically not allowed to exist as the world and governments were rapidly moving towards accepting Kira. As for the Task Force members, surely the leader would find it very logical that Kira would want the people who are trying to catch him killed? Why would he assume Light is Kira when it’s a more reasonable and comfortable conclusion to just accept that Kira wants him alive for some purpose. But even if you’re right and it does raise some suspicions, I’d say it would be a worthwhile bargain to accept some suspicion to be able to slaughter all his enemies in one go. Light would be very capable of coming up with some solutions to help that. Plus even if the leaders did think Light were Kira, I highly doubt they’d move against him. They have no idea how Kira’s power truly works. Very few people understand the requirements. Imagine how the average person, even politicians would be over it. They’re told that Kira needs a name, but then he kills with a face. They’re told there are two Kiras, but then suddenly that’s never openly stated again? As far as they know, if Light is Kira, he is probably truly extremely powerful and moving against him would be courting certain death. But as I said, even if the plan does pose certain risks, it is worth it. At least to me. It’s a state of small level general suspicion from some people. But if all else fails Light could just kill the people who know Light Yagami was in that warehouse (I doubt that information would be difficult for Kira to worm or force out of people) and bobs your uncle.
Yeah because it's totally not suspicious that Kira not only wants to protect some random guy from other random guys, but that he needs the government to do his killing for him, when normally Kira is more capable of killing anyone than any government. Also, Kira calling out Light as someone who needs to be protected would put a lot of eyes on him, not to mention that having American law enforcement, who were **investigating Kira**, being killed by the Japanese government at the behest of Kira to protect this seemingly random guy for no particular reason may as well be screaming "I'm Kira", it's far too convenient and nonsensical. This would create just as many problems that it solves if not more. Yeah, Near would be gone (assuming Kira can actually convince the cops to murder a bunch of people just because he said so (see previous point about how odd it is that Kira needs help killing, that request would diminish fears about his abilities)), but now he's virtually confessed that he IS Kira, and since he just exposed his own weakness by asking the government for help killing people, he's not going to appear quite so godlike anymore, is he? Because clearly there are things even he can't do. It just wouldn't work.

She didn’t deserve to go out like that!
