I have never been lucky with people returning borrowed money. I never get the money back. So when people come to me to borrow money, I tell them straight up that I don’t lend money to people and that they can go to the bank. My new approach is to give whatever I can afford but as a gift, and not expecting them to pay back so that there’s no commitment to repay. I have since found peace.

One is the collective use of colloquial abstract representation of normative assertions owing to the distinction in regulatory and derogatory affirmative relations to binary patterns.
The second is that even I don't know what I said above and I've just wasted 20 seconds of your time.

Sincerely I can relate with the man. Without being sentimental and looking at the facts in the corona year, is it true or not that people lost jobs? Not everyone owing and not able to pay at the right time is bad or wicked. If you have not found yourself losing your job which you relied on to pay back, then dont judge. As long as you are remorseful, you didnt run and you pick calls, to me you are still a person of integrity but affected by circumstances. Critically speaking, if this guy is not a trustworthy person, she wouldnt have giving him in the first place. I see a remorseful man here. He has not even committed a crime because he honestly owned up he is owing and ready to pay. That is okay by me. But judging by the comments here shows many of you dont do critical thinking. Even the food business that crashed, did you know food business is now a bad business? From 2020 till date, the prices of foodstuffs have skyrocketted beyond normal. And that is a fact. I want to believe if he has a job as the rate of unemplyment is high, he will pay up. Moreso, this is a MEDIATION COURT not a CRIMINAL COURT. NONE of the cases here on Justice Court is criminal. Nigerians need to change approach of how issues are judged on the internet. This is my point of view.

You are just defending nonsense , we know this is a civil court not criminal court so what are you saying? Did he discuss with the owner of the money before investing in food business ? Who sent him to invest in food business? His job was never in the picture when he first borrowed the money. He wasn't thinking of his salary when he borrowed the money u 7. The agreed business he wanted to do didnt work out he would have returned the money period . Some of you are just unnecessarily sentimental and selfish . What's her business if he lost his job ? Business is business. Since over one year ago he hasnt even paid 5k out of 700k . You defending this means you would do the same if you happen to borrow money. How you people sleep well at night knowing you are owing people baffles me . Me I hate borrowing and when I borrow I pause everything except feeding to pay up . Thats how to know genuine people . You dont borrow and stop picking your creditors calls or change address .

@@fadekeazeez4415 Oga, it is flimsy because there was no sense of reasonableness applied in dealing with the situation. Did you in your right mind consider what the poor lady had to go through just for trusting her savings with a "friend" to execute a project. In the same period of Corona, the borrower diverted the money meant for a purpose to serve a different means without the lady's consent? The food business too crashed? We all can make up excuses for our excesses. I hope you don't end up giving your savings to someone who is as stealthy as the guy, because takers would always take. They don't care. There are just lessons to draw out from the civil matter the court entertained. Such moral hazard behaviour must be dealt with. It was the same reason that triggered my statement that the borrower should be compelled by the court to pay. Someone should not carry the burden of pain under the pretext to help. There are many unemployed people in Nigeria, who are reasonable. The statistics speaks for itself. Let's embrace the culture of honesty and responsibility.
