You can't hate broken marriages. It's like saying you wish this useless marriage continued with a deceptive woman.
Broken home is a pandemic the outcome to the society cut across borders. Majority broken home is cos by the woman. This judge sounds biased, she's so concerned about her bonding with the children not even considering if they will be safe with her....My woman abandoned 2 kids with me years back, a boy and girl and my daughter was the oldest at just 4 years old, last month March 2024 she came back to claim them and my daughter is 16 now while the boy is 13...she took me to the police and lied that i beat her up every time she come to see the children that is why she has not been visiting, this is someone i haven't set my eyes on for almost 12 years,she bribe the police lady that was in charge of the case to locked me up just so she could go with the children, thank goodness my son refuse to go but she went with my daughter till date I don't know where they are...fear women.

I actually shedded tears when the girl started crying..that girl needs counseling. Knowing ur mother don’t love u as a child and remember that this kids has to experience it from small and now she is 19. It has messed up with her mind already. And it will really take her time to really see her mother as her mother cos she has waged a wall and the woman needs to do a lot of job to gain trust from the kids that she will not abandon them again. U missed out on their upbringing. She had to learn to use pad from her dad when u r suppose to guide her. Mama, drop their military way and start now to walk ur way to winning this kids heart again to want to be free to relate with u. Am sure the kids saw what they saw that u we’re bringing men to ur Abuja house and all these put together, it will be hard for them to respect u. U get work to do from my own understanding.

My take on this:
1. Why will a responsible married woman separate from her husband and for 11 years you have not made frantic efforts to see your children?
2. If it is true the husband trained her to the university and she chose to treat him this way, i feel sorry for.
3. From the testimony of the two, i tend to believe the husband to a larger degree. Though he seem to dominerring toward the wife.
4. The woman truly in my view sought for thevtransfer to Abuja to leave her life to the fullest. I personally doubt her faithfulness/commitment to her marriage and the husband.
5. It appears the mother in-law contributed to this mess going bynthe confession of the husband.
6. With the emotional outbursts of the daughter, it seems the woman is not a real woman and mothet that she supposed to be.
LESSON:
1.If you know you are not going to faithful and committed to any man or woman, please dont get married.
2. Before you take any carreer decision, consider your marriage/ home first.
3. Marriages comes with a lot of sacrifice. If you are not prepared to make those sacrifices, dont jump into it.

The mother may not have had the money to go through the courts to gain visitation rights legally. Neither lawyers nor the courts are free. When my ex-husband abandoned me but would not sign divorce paperwork, I used tax refund money & I began selling my furniture to make some extra money to pay my lawyer. That took almost 2 years. He earned twice as much as I did, so money didn't matter to him. Plus I still had a minor child at home. Child support money went towards her education by order of the judge since she had been in private school since Pre-K.

This is the first time I'm seeing judge Fumi not telling the raw truth like telling the woman her wrongs instead of petting her for her wrong behavior over the years. After 11years she now realizes she wants to be a part of their education and the judge is saying to the man that "you're even a pastor". So because he's a pastor, he should be happy that he has a disloyal woman as a wife who left him and the kids for over a decade. Abuja men don finish you remain shafts, now you remember your children. I'm disappointed judge Fumi and I hope she won't corrupt the 19years old daughter to become like her.
I agree with you. Judge Funmi did not address the woman truthfully, she is clearly taking sides. If it’s the other way round I know her she won’t be this mild. She is still kind of accusing the Pastor after all the woman has done. Thank God the children are there to corroborate the man’s story. I pray God will bless the man to take care of his kids.

Every child needs their mother and father and two wrongs don’t make a right. They are both at fault including her family but the man should know better as a Pastor even more than the woman who is not.

The girl's expression is an indication of how traumatized she has been by her Mother's attitude. The mother was not even moved by the daughter's outburst of emotions, which really speaks volume. I expected her to have made a move to approach her daughter and embrace her. I really feel for the young lady.

A colleague of mine in our office had a similar experience. His wife sought transfer to Abuja behind his back while leaving him with 4 kids in Lagos. He only gets to see her twice in a year. There was this year he did not see her for one whole year, so he took part of his annual leave to go to Abuja. He was shocked at the sight of his wife who was already 7 months pregnant. He didn't ask her how it happened. He returned to Lagos and that was the end of the marriage till today. He has since remarried another woman and his most senior kid just finished NYSC while the younger ones are in the university now.
No job or profession is bigger than the family bond and the family bond should not be sacrificed on the alter of developing a career selfishly. There must be a balance. The woman in this case is somewhat mean towards her first daughter.
The woman should have used her educational exposure to find a role for herself in her husband's ministry to help him in burden sharing and running his ministry instead of picking a secular job and going away to Abuja to be messing around as alleged.

When men and women feel entitled to being fathers and mothers because they’re biologically responsible, they forget underlying responsibilities. For someone trying to get her children back after many years, she’s not ready…especially with the reply she gave her crying child. I doubt she’ll ever get there with the children. She needs to be more empathetic.
After she too may have been emotionally and physically abused by her own parents....Africa is a jungle, we are cruel even to our offspring.

This judgement can never force this girl to bond with her mum considering how traumatised she sounded. The mother appeared less bordered by her daughter's outburst. Madam, that you bore her in your womb is no longer a reason for her to embrace you if you had abandoned them for 11yrs.
The girl has come to an age where her feelings are defined & justified; and her age and decision backed by law (no longer a minor).
There has to be sincere apologies, total change of attitude from the mother and a display of genuine love to her children to win their affection back.
Court judgement can not enforce that, even if you rule for her to have access to them.
No child can forcefully bond with an unrepentant and loving mother or father. She need to first of all repent, apologize and amend her ways especially on how she treat her kids. True love birth positive feeling so does hate and maltreatment birth negative feelings and hate.
If the woman need her kids trust me she knows what to do, the judge should not force bonding between the woman and her kids if it can't come through submissiveness and repentance from their mother.
For me I will ask the woman what she really want because all I could gather from her is that she want to be part of her kids education like some kind of investor so that could have a say in their future. I expect true mother not able to hold it together when she saw a daughter she left 11 years ago in tears but also break down into tears too and run to her daughter

The problem between the mother and the children started wen they told their father about the mother's boyfriends. They must have disobeyed her instruction that they should never tell their father. I think the court should be careful in granting this woman access to the children. She does not seem to have good intentions. She referred to the daughter as this girl. Is it that she has forgotten the daughter's name? With such attitude towards the girl, the court should ask her reasons for wanting access to the children now. I didn't see any affection from the mother, she rather appeared angry even towards the daughter. so why does she want access to the children?

Your feelings are in order. The woman is very cold and seems hard hearted. When the girl started crying I was expecting her to even calm her down and pet her rather she was saying she grew in her womb.

The judge was just hitting on the man, I wish judge Funmi had spoken to the woman very well, she messed up big time, 11 years is no joke, you left your kids for good 11years in the same country only for you to see your older daughter and be asking her whaaaat, no remose , no compassion nothing, haba, that woman is so mean. She doesn't deserve to have those kids at all.
The judge has done well. Why put fire to fury. The lady has done wrong, but the man is more furious at her leaving him and using the kids as a weapon. She is horrible too, but what is the cause of this. It's seems they once loved or had feelings for each other to produce 3 children. Too much bitter feelings on each of their part.
This is a really difficult one but the judge still did well...
Like she said, what the woman came for was just to be seeing the children and be part of their lives now and not for reconciliation with the man...at least for the moment

It was quite obvious that the children are scared of her and emotionally detached from her. Also I’m inclined to believe the man because of the daughter’s reaction. A normal mother on seeing her daughter for the first time in 11yrs would have run to her and embraced her…. My heart broke for her when she burst out crying
I think the court should offer them some psychological counseling on how to mend their daughter-mother relationship so they can move forward
