  • If your hot water looks rusty or muddy, flushing or bleeding your hot water tank may help. Draining the tank can help get rid of sediment stuck at the bottom. I may also remove some rust allowing you to temporary keep using the water tank. We will go over how to drain a water tank and what causes the water the water to turn brown as well as some preventive maintenance you can do to make your hot water tank last longer.
You will need a garden hose to drain the tank, amzn.to/2LM5aS6

Great and easy to do instructions. HOWEVER, your u-Tube shows for gas units, not electric.

Check water softener. Iron builds up. Flush the water tank and clean out the softener (wet dry vacume) too. Worked for me.
    Have a great life.......

It might help, if it continues you need a new tank. I suggest looking at tankless unit. I have a video on it on my channel. thanks for the comment.

Great video. I am on a water well and my house and water heater are just 4 years old. My hot water is brown. To check the anode, do I need to have everything off (cold water intake, etc) to relieve pressure? Don’t want anything to blow up in my face. Thanks again for the video.

You need to shut off water and empty tank, while you have a faucet opened to relieve pressure etc. I wouldn't check with water in the tank

Is the water dangerous? Can I shower in cold water until the problem is fixed?

It's not dangerous you can safely take a cold shower but you will get rust etc. If you have no choice it's not dangerous
