- Katsu Chinese Palm Router is it a Makita Alternative?
There are a few cheap palm routers on Amazon but there seem to be two main patterns. These low-cost routers are not to be dismissed as unworthy because they are very capable.
The model in this video is sold in the USA as Enertwist Compact Router, 7.0-Amp 1.25HP ET-RT-710S. You can buy here amzn.to/30x6D2W
Katsu Electric Wood Hand Trimmer Laminator 1/4" 3/8" 220V. You can buy it here amzn.to/33wRzV3
Makita Laminate Trimmer, 1/4 In amzn.to/3la75fm

Because of you’re great review I’m getting one. The way it went through the oak was pretty impressive.
It is a good tool and worth the money xx
Thank you for sharing your opinion and quick demo. Brilliant...
Nice honest video. I'm tempted to get one as my first router for small guitar routing jobs.
Glad I watched your video, my clamp screw must be loose and the cause of the slippage. Had mine three years and it's still going strong, does all I need it to in fairness... downside is that I have no excuses to buy a shiny new router now 🤣
I rediscovered one of these in my storage, was wondering if you have any details on what collets fit it, if you have the time? The one that came with it is missing.
Thanks for your help! :)
Why are you taking such a big cut especially it is oak? You can hear the revs dropping. You should always do light passes with small routers so set the depth in two stages. How is a variable routertrimmer sold for £30? Its unrealistic. Yes it is very similar to a Makita. I have the same router under a different brand.
Odd that the Katsu brand is unavailable in US. : ) and the Entertwist brand (supposed rebrand) is only 6 amps.
I've got one and it's absolutely brilliant .
It is not bad at all and it interesting that john was saying the base is compatible with the Makita
Does this come with an 8mm collet ? i purchased a 8mm router bit set for my bosch, and would like a palm router that can use the same bits.
The spec changes depending on your country xx
I have both of them the Katsu and the Makita, I got the Katsu because it worked out cheeper to get that with all the fittings than to get the plunge base for the Makita as the Katsu fittings fits the Makita, so I got all the fittings to fit the Makita and a back up router. If that makes any sense lol.
makes perfect sense and quite lateral thinking I must say!
Very helpful and honest. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Hello in what kind of wood do you use the router?
Oak, hope that helps
has anyone tried fitting Makita guide and slide addons see if they work better ?
Sorry I haven't
Can we do a job of door hinges with this router? Thanks
Yes, but make a jig in wood, ply or MDF
Yes, get a trend universal plate and it works a treat so long as you use quality sharp bits
I bought this last year and the motor blew in a week.
Strange mines still good xx
@@WallyboisWoodworking perhaps I just got a dodgy one. I need a router but I’m debating getting the cheaper plunge router or taking a risk with another katsu. Not sure what to do.
what accent is this ?
UK/Norfolk yet my mother was part Indian....sorry!
@@WallyboisWoodworking you do not have to be sorry for that imo...thats because we are sorry every fucking time that west is fucked up
i loved the video thank you sir , i actually dont know if i invest in the 12v bosch cordless router or the chinese katsu (well i know they are all made in China now ..lol)
sry for my low level english, cheers
Sue your dealer, wipe your nose, stop look and listen.
