Essa Seleção merece ainda ganhar uma espécie de Taça de Honra ao Mérito.
Ninguém pode se culpar, até hoje foi a seleção brasileira mais brilhante dessa minha época, eu tinha somente 8 anos. Ser lembrado até hoje por ter sido derrotado pela Itália, significa que foi uma seleção que dava gosto de assistir. Mas com certeza foi uma das maiores injustiças do futebol mundial. Toda vez que eu vejo essa seleção me emociono, é como se eu tivesse torcendo aqui e agora por esta seleção. Uma sensação ímpar.
It is impressive how much more is said about this Brazilian team than about Italy, which was champion that World Cup. More impressive is how a losing team can make history. This Brazilian team is a king without a crown. That is precisely the lesson that this extraordinary team leaves us: the best result does not always show your quality, your success. It's football......it's life itself.
Dont get carried away. They were fantastic and I loved them too, but the whole world remembers very clearly Tardelli's roar after scoring against Germany. The whole world including all of Europe, China, India and all of South America including Brazil. Unless you are either too young to remember or weren't even born.
Either way, this team and these players were phenomenal. Once in a lifetime, and fortunately in my lifetime.

I was 13 in 82 and I was so crushed in Brazil watching this team lose to Italy. It was the only time I cried because of football. It was indeed a fantastic squad and they played the most beautiful game I ever seen in a WC. It was a shame this generation never won a cup.

O 2° gol da Itália foi um presente que o Cerezzo deu para o Paolo Rossi. Foi inacreditável o que aconteceu com o Brasil.

Ni la selección de Brasil del 2002 lo puede igualar a esa maravillosa selección Brasileña del 82 y mucho menos esa selección mediocre del 2006 que solo fueron nombres nada más y futbolísticamente no hicieron nada quedaron ridículos.
I'm Scottish, obviously I wanted my team to win back then, but I fell in love with this Brazilian team. It broke my heart when they lost to Italy. I was 10 years old and still remember crying very hard watching them leave the field at the end of that match. Eder's face full of disappointment, is etched in my mind. I've never seen a better Brazilian team since.
I'm from Poland and was watching them that time in 1982 on TV. I couldn't believe the lost that day with Italy. Brasil had a team out of this world in those days. They were just amazing, great, fantastic... I was 12 years old in '82 and was crying too when they lost. I haven't see a better Brazilian team since 1982 either. Greetings

Varias publicaciones del mundo señalaron que el fue el mejor jugador del Mundial . El propio Mrchip dijo que Zico fue el mejor jugador del Mundial 1982 por encima de Paolo Rossi.

Socrates was magic, he was a doctor and smoked up to 60 gigs a day, he was like some mythical footballing great. If he was a doctor then he would be semi pro? His penalties were a treat he'd take one step back and chip it in. It was sad when he passed away he really left his football mark on the game. Socrates thank yo for the great memories you gave the game.
He was also an alcoholic. And the most none athlete body I ever saw. This guy was pure talent. Beyond any words. His brother Rai actually became world champion in 1994

Brilliant documentary. It made me cry. Wonderful time for the game. I was and still am an diehard fan of Italy, even though I was born in Argentina.
I say that because I remember how great this Brazil of 82 was, maybe even better than Brazil of 70. Even while Italy beating Brazil was the greatest sporting joy of my life when I was 22, I realized that the Brazil of Zico, Falcao, Socartes, Cerezo, Eder, and every single other player on the field and on the bench who were actually GIANTS or MONSTERS of football. I have never had as much respect for any other team as I do and did for this particular Seleção. Not even for Italy or Argentina which I love both.
Watching these heroes talk about football and their team is very emotional and reminds me of the love I had and still can have for this beautiful, beautiful game.

I don't understand Portuguese, please forgive me. I watched this unique documentary from start to finish, the film was worth watching. I was 14 years old at the time of this edition of the world cup, i will be 54 years old this month, i remember this as the first world cup that i really understood what was happening and i was in middle school at the time and a football crazy youngster, everybody had their favourite player and at school the next day we would play in the playground being Zico, Falcao, Socrates,Junior . When Brazil lost to Italy , we were heartbroken...the football matches in the playground suddenly ground to a halt, anyway...here i am...over half a century old and to this day, this team is the one that i have the most affection for, Spain '82 will forever be in my heart and thought's for the way they played , with invention, style and zest , Viva seleção Brazil 1982 !!😘

pois é, faltou maturidade na equipe, na hora que o Brasil fez o gol, era de ter retrancado o time, mas eles queriam se aparecer, fazer gols, aí tomaram, ser estrelas.
Copa do mundo, jogam os melhores do mundo, não pode ter margem pra erro.
O Neymar tinha salvado o jogo, todo mundo cançado, e ele tira o coelho da cartola. Aí o resto faz uma cagada daquelas e tomam o gol. Lamentável

94 team was legendary.
I will never forget 82...it was magic, like 1970...especially beating Argentina, the reigning champions, the way we did...but it was also tragic...I still remember feeling amazed at the total silence in Sao Paulo, then the second largest city in the world, after we lost to Italy...it felt the country had died. But 1950 and in 2014 were much worse!

Que doc emocionante... Impossível segura as lágrimas a partir das imagens contra a Itália. Tinha 8 anos de idade naquele 5 de julho e até hoje me lembro bem daquele dia, mas recordo-me, sobretudo, dos dias felizes que aquela Copa proporcionou, que aquele grupo fantástico de jogadores brasileiros proporcionou. Aquele 5 de julho ensinou-me sobre as incertezas da vida, ajudou-me a crescer.

A seleção brasileira de 1970, a seleção tri campeã do mundo com Pelé, Tostão, Rivelino, Jairzinho, Gerson, Clodoaldo... conquistou a copa de 70 jogando de forma bela, jogando o verdadeiro futebol arte. Isso é fato incontestável! E é até hoje reconhecida como o exemplo do futebol arte brasileiro.
A seleção da Hungria de 1954 balançou o mundo com seu futebol belíssimo e apesar de não ter conquistado a copa em sua época, é comentada até hoje e será por toda a eternidade. A seleção da Holanda na copa de 74 além de um belíssimo futebol, mostrou explícita inovação tática. Na copa de 78 repetiu a dose e na final, fez uma partida apoteótica contra a Argentina. A Holanda é considerada a seleção do “quase”, pois nunca ganhou nada, mas, é comentada até hoje e será por toda a eternidade.
A seleção brasileira de 1982 foi descrita por Pelé da seguinte forma: - “ganhamos em 70 com uma seleção de super craques experientes... mas, se a seleção de 82 tivesse conquistado a copa, poderia tranquilamente ser comparada com a de 70, pois, a seleção de 82 também teve super craques e jogava como uma orquestra. Mostrou um futebol belíssimo”.
A Itália de 82 não tem culpa de nada, pois foi competente em seu futebol tradicional de forte marcação. Mas, em minha opinião, a seleção de 82 não ter conquistado a copa, fez um mal absurdo ao futebol, pois, após isso, deu-se início a mentalidade de trancar o jogo com volantes de contenção, do futebol de resultado, do jogar só para ganhar, mesmo se feio for.

The 2 goals Brazil got against Italy were the best goals goals they scored in the 82 World Cup ironically enough. They played amazingly in that match against Italy. The second Italian goal was a killer goal,totally unnecessary, self inflicted just when Brazil were dominating the game. Brazil 82 was a fabulous side. Amen.

Great movie ! Brazilian people loved that national team. Much more that others champions national teams of 1994's or 2002's World Cup.
As an Italian it would have been a lot better for football if Brasil won that World Cup since they mastered the beautiful game and took it to new heights, with a unique mixture of individual talent and associative football that nobody was able to replicate. They were basically the Pep Guardiola Barcelona with the Galácticos mentality, still grateful for what they have done to football in spite of not achieving victory
As italian I think that the Selecao 82 was a great, great Brasil, the best I've ever seen. Just to mention some players: Paulo Roberto Falcao (my favourite), Zico, Socrates, Junior, Toninho Cerezo.
This team had the DNA of Telê Santana, a lot of attack, offensive, aggressive, beautiful to watch, but they had serious defensive problems, Minor opponents had already pierced the Brazilian defense and even then Tele Santana did not correct, when he caught a big dog like Italy was already too late. It was an unbalanced team, very beautiful, but you can't just think about showing.

Entre todas, a derrota mais amarga e dolorida, pelos craques, pelo futebol, pela Seleção, e pelo Mestre Telê; que saudade do seu Telê, um gênio sem igual, que pena aquela geração de Zico, Sócrates, Falcão, Junior, Leandro, Eder, Careca, |Oscar, Amaral, Cerezzo, incrível; não tiveram Copa, nem final, nem semi-final; deixaram exemplo gigante de futebol e caráter!
Brazil's football would forever change to a much more European style after this game. Jogo bonito was over after that game. Playing beautiful had been a big thing in Brazil, oddly enough the rest of the world wouldn't call it that (marketing campaign) until the late 1990s long after that style ceased to exist. Nowadays the styles are all the same (or very similar) anyway. Those old times are long gone.

I remember the game vs Italy. I was 10 yrs old and was watching with my older cousins. Everyone was rooting for Brazil except me, lol. I was rooting for Italy not really sure why but I was. Paolo Rossi became my favorite player. It was a heck of a game.

On July 5th 1982 i was a 14 years old italian kid going crazy after Paolo Rossi's goals. That was a memorable afternoon. So much nostalgia for that beautiful amazing soccer that doesn't exist anymore. Thanks for this great documentary.

1982 was an amazing world cup.But watching the video makes me sad. Brazil played incredible football, then lost to Italy. France played beautiful football against Northern Ireland and West Germany, losing on penalties. I remember after France beat Northern Ireland, the TV host was already speculating about a Brazil v France final.
Juts imagine it, Socrates, Zico, Falcao, Cerezo, Eder, Junior, Leandro vs Platini, Rocheteau, Giresse, Six, Amoros, Tigana, Bossis.
Crazy how the world missed out and instead got "treated" to Italy v West Gernany having a virtual punch up in the final (lots of dirty fouling).
Ultimately beautiful football was the loser in 1982.

1982 was the first world cup I was big enough to watch football and ever since that Brazil has been my standard to judge any other team either a national team or a club and yet to find an equal forget about a better one. Nowadays the tough pressing has turned football into handball and there is no space for creativity and the play maker role has disappeared somewhat!.
