This controller is one of the few instances that a small screen for onboard control wouldnt be a gimmick because it is packed with features. So many things to remember
Of all the G8+ videos I've seen you're the only one that actually talks about the rumble rather than just read off a spec sheet. So I guess android mode doesn't have rumble? Seems a bit silly to need such a long dongle though
One can definitely make-do without the dongle, but it does increase the versatility of the controller. As for rumble not working everywhere. I think it has to do with different protocols and how they would have their board design to re-route the rumble data line. In other words, it would be close to impossible to have a controller transform to match the different production designs that existed. Think emulation, but that can emulate every hardware as if it was the native original stuff.
I've been trying to decide which device I want as a cellphone gamer with no "heavy equipment" 😂... I have 2 months of xbox game pass with my laptop, and i know that there are tons of options out there without owning gaming systems... I found your videos and have watched quite a few the past few days! This was finally the deciding factor video that helped me make my decision between this and the x4 (was considered for the bus), but ultimately this video sold me on the g8+! Thank you, et merci beaucoup!! 🥰
I tried my Xbox Series anniversary controller via USB-C to USB-C into my iPhone 16 Pro, and it worked no problem. The thing didn't even have batteries in it, let alone be paired over Bluetooth, so XBX working on iOS, at least now, is definitely a thing.
Thank you so much for the side note about how the “GameSir g8+” connection can be connected to the wrong device. It was paired to my android and I was so annoyed because I couldn’t get the app to work on my iPhone lol
I bought mine today too. Am I missing something or is the Gamesir app heavily down voted in the Play store reviews section? Apparently it crashes, drains phone battery, and no longer works at all? I'm hoping the controller works totally fine independently of it - especially the L4/R4 button mapping. How's your controller been? Did you download the app?
@@Cooler110033 Honestly, I don't know why it is. With that said, GameSir came A LONG WAY to be the company they are now, they weren't always that good so is it from past era? They were also disliked for a long while because their initial telescopic controller was tied to a controversial emulator about an active console.... cough cough. Personally, I haven't had problem with the app in AGES but there was a time that it was rough around the edges for sure. With that said, I have had zero problems, both with the controller and the app.
@Game Tech Talk Also, FYI ,When in BlueTooth Settings, if paired, when you press and hold the "Pair" Button next to the Charging USB C port underneath the controller, it will show a NEW Gamesir G8+. And it will CONTINUE to do this an infinite amount of times as long as you pair each time. The craziest part is each of these SOMEHOW has an entirely new mapping for each Gamesir G8+ connection. I've noticed in an Emulator such as Dolphin, it does not recognize the new Paired G8+ like the previous ones, even when it's the exact same controller. I have to clear them all and re map. What's this about?
I talk about this exact thing during the video, it’s used to have the app accept the remapping and configuring of the controller. It’s a mean to an end, one I hope they’ll have a better solution for in the future but for now, it’ll have to do.
Great video! I finally got the G8+. It's just a superb controller, I'm really surprised by the quality construction , for the price it's just amazing, but i can't get the rumble function to work on Android. I tried Android and DS4 modes on Bluetooth and wired connections on a Android 12 Poco X3pro phone. In the PC works ok. So far tried on emulators and COD mobile.l, I guess that i have to buy the dongle to try on Xbox mode...
Android HID won't have rumble but the PS Mode should, keep in mind that not every game will have "controller-type" rumble. Some games were designed with having rumble to your phone, unless the developers update the game, it won't magically transfer to your controller, they need to update the code of the game for that feature to carry over. Cheers!
Thanks for the video. Best investment I'd made in gaming recently. I got the original non-moded I use on my s24 ultra as well as a modded one from rrtronics which I play with my tab s9+ So much more comfy with the s9+ bigger screen; although can feel heavy with the gamepad but its just too good you won't mind it. I play more of xbox cloud but been trying some ps5 wireless play via the ps app and its been great. So far no complaints. Thanks for this video as understanding and navigating these modes can feel exhausting at times.
Awww my guy! That's a video I made exactly for people like you, that I could help with squeezing the extra juice out of those amazing (but also costly) gaming peripherals we acquire for ourselves. You made my day, I'm glad I was able to help, and happy to know you found yourself some excellent solutions to game to your heart's content! Cheers :)
I am deep diving to find a telescopic that works best for my gameplay on an iPhone 16 Pro Max. Your videos are amazing, and are helping me a lot! Thanks! I’m torn between this controller, the g8 plus, and the mo5. I mainly play retro games like GBA games through Delta and iPhone app games like SotN. I love the Bluetooth option of this one and not having to plug a battery to the controller to use Bluetooth, but I don’t think I need all of the extra physical and super details as this one has. Also portability is something I am considering. What would you recommend for iPhone centric, mainly Apple apps with occasional delta retro gameplay? The g8 plus, the mo5, or maybe something else? Thanks for these videos❤
The G8+ is definitely a great choice, but it depends on how important portability is to you. If you need something to throw in your pocket and go, maybe the other is a better option. Reading your message, it does seem as though the M05 is going for what you need and the G8+ be the FOMO of wanting more without actually needing it. As for something else, the M15 would be the bridge between the two. More full-featured but smaller too. Cheers!
only just got it. the rubber bits that make contact with the phone... the clamp force is heaps, but kind of wish they had an option for a bigger/taller rubber peices to install that hold the device in better. other wise it pops out quite easily to me (silicon case) and then the spring recoil follows as the control shuts back 🥶. The rubber on the $5 Xbox controller/phone holder is way more grippy though, does not feel like it will come out at all...
I don't have it in front of me right this second but if I'm not mistaken, there should be small square pegs looking holes in the rubber of the G8+. I learned not too long ago that these are designed to add foam in them to prevent friction or to add it, based off of the type of foam/rubber that would be put in there. You might be able to make it more the way you want it! Cheers, glad you're enjoying it overall!
I say "regular" cause I move from the dongle mode but the mode specifically that I went on at that moment (and is also the most versatile for iOS/Android) is "Capture button + right most face button" which is going to be your iOS/PS/DS4 mode.
Hey, thanks for the video, I am really considering the G8 plus now, but I am still not sure. So does it work for games on Android (like COD warzone or PUBG) out of the box? Or do you have to map all controls on the screen? For the dongle, is it a must if I use it for only my Android phone? I would use it for GamePass and these games mentioned before. Also the LEDs, the standard G8 has RGB LEDs at the sticks as far as I remember, but then this one doesn't?
If there is native controller support, it'll work. COD Warzone does. PUBG on the other hand, controllers are not officially supported so you have to rely on screen-mapping. It always depends on the specific games but controller support is rare to not have these days. The dongle is not a must, it's mainly a plus for PC/Mac use, if you have no intentions of doing either, don't bother I'd say. The regular G8 does not have RGB around the sticks but they are purple if I recall, which might create the illusion that there is RGB. I can confirm that it is not the case.
@ that's good news actually, so if there is a controller support, it should be okay! I checked and I did not remember correctly, and you are right, it does not have RGB lights, I don't know why I remembered like that. Yeah mainly looking for something that I will use 99% for mobile gaming 😊 Thank you so much for your reply!
I hope you can answer this for me, because it is really quite complicated to find this information. Do you know if it is compatible with phones with large camera modules, for example with a total thickness (phone + camera module) of 1.4 cm? It is for a Xiaomi phone. Or what gamepad would be suitable for this type of phone?
I got my G8+ last week and I love it but still am getting my head round the Games if mode for remapping touch screen controls. A tutorial on that would be great.
I’ve purchase the game sir cause of your vids. Great content sir! Quick question. I know it has rumble but it doesn’t seem to be working with my iphone… when I test it in the app it would rumble, but when actually playing PS mode, it doesn’t rumble. Do you know why…?
Rumble on phones can be finnicky, it'll work with most games that support it natively, but not always. Some games used to have rumble for the phone's haptics, not the controllers, unless the dev makes it an addressable option, or updated their code, it may not work on the controller itself. The other thing is, make sure that your settings (of the controller) have the rumble cranked up. I believe the "capture + d-pad up" is the shortcut to address it, or it might be Gamesir button + d-pad up. Cheers!
@@GameTechTalk Man you respond faster than GameSir themselves. haha Good stuff! I appreciate the assist. I believe you are correct. majority of Mobile games do not support Haptic feedback especially for controllers like the G8+. so I guess haptic is only meant for more console and PC games, huh? oh and do you know where to find all the shortcut key for G8+? For Example Hold M with another button and the function it will do? or what the colors, and blinking lights mean on the gamesir home button? just curious if you can help with this. Much Appreciate it sir. 🙏
@ Well we’re seeing more and more games support haptic but it’s not mainstream yet I’d say. As for shortcuts, they should be in the manual but if you lost the manual, in the app you can get a digital copy where all the shortcuts are listed! 😊
Awesome Video as always Cleff! I wanted to ask of you could also test the dongle on ps5/ps4? Maybe the bluetooth connection on ps mode will actually work with the dongle plugged into the console?
Hey man, I loved your video. I just received my G8+ yesterday and it doesn't work on my iPhone 15, it says in the app that it won't work on iOS 13.4 and above. The controller looks and feels great but I couldn't play with it on my iPhone. Do you have a specific solution to this or am I just wasting $80 😅?
Hey, sorry for the delay, I've been having soo many comments ahaha, it's hard to keep up! 😅 I would put my money on you having to switch modes. Hold the capture button and the right most face button and your GameSir logo will change colors, it should go vibrant blue and that is the PS Mode / Apple Mode. Once you swap to that mode, you should be sorted! Cheers
@@GameTechTalk thank you so much man for the feedback, it worked perfectly on almost every game except Pubg mobile.. The game requires mapping, but this feature is currently available on Android only. I reached out to the gamesir customer support and they unfortunately say only MFI games can be played on iOS as long as mapping doesn’t support iOS 13.4 & above.
Interesting, it hasn't worked for me with Xbox controllers but definitely does now Switch and Switch-spoofed controllers. Yours work with Xbox ones? Could I ask what iOS version that you are on? Might be an upcoming beta thing!
You didn’t talk about the different polling rates? Is Switch mode the best mode when connecting to iPhone? In your review you said it had better latency?
I was running into issues with the software, happens from time to time, when trying to poll the dongle but it did feel good overall so I left it at that. The Switch mode does poll higher on the bluetooth side of things but there are some features, namely rumble, that won't work outside of the Switch itself.
I was considering the G8+ until i saw it was one of those joycon style separate battery controller, do you have any recommendation on anything that doesn't feels like playing with joycons?
I have a very specific issue with the controller. I've been playing some Nintendo 64 Zelda games with it, but quickly realized I can't do the quick spin attack, which is performed by quickly rotating the movement thumbstick and then hitting attack. With GameSir X2 Pro controller I can do it with no issues. Same with other Bluetooth controllers like my Xbox controller. But with G8+ the action is simply undoable. It feels like the controller fails to register fast movement on the thumbsticks properly. Doing gamepad testing with the GameSir app shows that the X2 Pro controller registers thumbstick movement at 60 fps/hz, but G8+ seems to work at 30. Might be why I have this issue with the Zelda games. But then again those games run at 20 fps, so I dunno. Other than this, I freaking love G8 Plus.
If I had to take a wild guess, you have the feature to swap d-pad and left stick and when you rotate your stick, rather than making a circle as it should, it is hitting all 8 directions of a d-pad. I suggest google hardwaretester or gamepadtester and check what happens when you rotate your stick, that ought to show you exactly if the stick is behaving as it should.
In the interest of remaining honest, I can tell you that this is too specific to make a video about as each environment are going to be different. Bluetooth and WIFI / cell phone data are all very different bands and waves, however, interference can still occur. If you get stutter, it must be because the bluetooth signal of the controller is causing interference to whatever else you use to connect with. You can confirm that by trying to use the G8+ wired, if there is no stutter, you know what the issue is. What you would need to do is sniff out the bands, change them on your router and hope for less interference. That is not something I can easily make a video about because each environment is different and impacted by the vicinity, the router, how to change bands, etc etc. Hopefully, some info will help you but that will require you to dig further for your specific situation. Sorry I can't be of more help. Cheers
@@GameTechTalk Nothing to worry about but you were curious as you couldn't hear it yourself. I think we all should have some differences or it would get really boring :)
It might work better with some modes than other, I find the PS mode to be the most universally functional but it might be a bit of trial and error from time to time.
Could you show us the gyro actually working in game while connected over moonlight/sunshine on iOS? A few of us on the discord can’t get it to work properly. The steam gyro test might not make the bugged out tracking obvious.
I don't have a G8 Plus video in the immediate production timeline for now but I did write it down in case I get to talk again about the G8 Plus, thanks for the suggestion!
If i recall in another video you were able to use it on 13" pro ipad on landscape. but in this video you say only in portrait, do you no longer recommend it for ipad 13" pro tablets? was still on the fence on buying this
No no no, it's not "only portrait", I show portrait for people that prefer not to mod it. You can still very much use it in landscape, you just have to do this little (literally half a second) mod and you're set. See it more in detail here: ruclips.net/video/OeapSjwUptQ/видео.html
@@GameTechTalk Hi, you don't need to mod it. You just push it and pull it in the same time and it will extract supporting a 14 inch tablet. No modding needed.
@@Marcalitus Right, my apology for the confusion, I say mod because as per GameSir, that is an easter-egg that is not part of the "recommended use" even though it works absolutely fine. So I call it mod as in a softmod but you are correct in the sense that you do not need to "tamper" with your controller to get it stretched. I actually have a video addressing how easy and simple that it is.
@@GameTechTalk Thank you for that! Absolutely great channel and good luck to you. Sorry for the negative comments you are getting regarding your pronouncation. Hope you nothing but success moving forward.
Thanks for going over the vibration feature. What I found out is that if my phone went to sleep and I turned it back on, the vibration would stop on iOS games (ocean horn 2, samurai jack, hades-NETFLIX, and all the versions of dead cells). I had to turn off the controller and repair to get the vibration to work on games where they do work. I am stuck on using the minus or back button. It seems that under the DS input it registers this as the back and capture button. So when back the back button to access a menu when playing Doom on xcloud, the phone will snap a screenshot. Any idea how to map this back over to the proper capture button on the controller? My current workaround is to disable it completely in the game profile settings on iOS
Oh that is a struggle I never really had though about. So the issue you're having is due to the difference in the way that Sony and Microsoft translate "Select" or "Minus" in their independant protocols, Microsoft sees Select as it always was, whereas Sony sees it as Capture. The equivalent of Select for Sony is that trackpad click. Whereas that button for Microsoft is, you guessed it, capture. Unfortunately, I don't believe there is a way to change that outside of using a software that will let you. I believe setting yourself up with BetterXCloud will be the solution to your issue, and the good news is BetterXCloud run laps around Microsoft's XCloud web app. It's a bit of a process (there are many tutorials online) but about 15mins and you'll be good for the rest of time. I highly recommend it!
Remote Play on Android requires a Sony licensed (or spoofed) mode to work. Therefore, as long as you are on PS mode (capture + right face button), it’ll work just fine. Cheers!
I'm looking for a controller that does Android gaming and PC gaming. I don't really care about Bluetooth, prefer be wired in for a better response time, but if the + can do it I'd take it. Also, is there any controllers that have an SD card slot? Games are getting a bit hefty in size.
Sadly, there are no controllers that support OTG or have card slots. As for the G8+, it does do it "easily" but in reality, every telescopic controllers can be used on PC, you have to use a USB-C female to USB male (A or C) to connect from the connector that goes into the phone.
@charlsey26 try using L shape usb C connector/adapter on your phone and then put the phone to Gamepad , and last step is install your Flashdisk/card reader/ssd portable, sorry if my english is very bad, you can see this link video for example, its using that trick for charging whlie you can use it for FD/memory (only work on bluetooth gamepad) ruclips.net/user/shortsWrKp-iLsERY?si=aDPOZEATjnLJmoEj
Yeah, you can connect as a PS controller no issues, as long as you have bluetooth on your computer. The dongle actually works for 2.4Ghz mode and it is X-Input by default but once you are in that mode, you can use select+start for a few seconds to cycle modes!
Depending on what type of cloud experience you had, I'd say the blame is not on the controller, or at least not entirely. It does potentially add up though so part may come from the controller, part from the stream too.
That's because you need to connect to your iPhone with the PS mode, iPhone does accept wireless xbox mode so Moonlight sees it as an Xbox controller. With that said, there is also a setting in Moonlight that will override your controller to make it appear as an Xbox one regardless, that might be it too!
Thanks for the response, but I found out that I needed to enable DS4 mode in Sunshine settings to get gyro mode. However, I ran into another problem right after that. For some reason, the gyro is completely messed up; the calibration values are all over the place, and in-game input just spins uncontrollably. It seems to be a software issue because it works fine when connected directly to the PC
I would love to see skins for this controller. Designed buttons, stickers. designed covers as accesories (the part you have to take off to change buttons). They already have marvel designs but the problem is that you have to buy the controller with it.
I'm hoping we get a future version with more feature parity with the better options out there. If GameSir's releases have a patterns, we'd be getting one in 3-4 months, give or take. Fingers crossed! But meanwhile, the clsoest to what you want is the Abxylute S9, they started shipping even!
@@TaiwanTeddy I figured it out, thanks Any idea on how to get rumble working? It works when I test the controller but I’ve only been able to find one app ‘Rush Rally Origins’ (the one in this video) that supports it, I haven’t had rumble register anywhere else.
You have to purchase a 90 degree USB-C adapter to run your wire to the side while using the controller. They are very inexpensive, something like this: amzn.to/3ZkDabr
I'm hesitant on buying a G8+ cause I wanna play games while using my bluetooth earbud. Is there any other way to use bluetooth on both earbud and the G8+? Or is there any other better controllers for this feature?
@game tech talk Can you explain why the Yellow LED (android) with android 13, sends a notification once connected to "Configure your physical keyboard"? Android13 thinks the G8+ I'd a legitimate keyboard and you can see this in depth if you go to motion inputs/simulation in PlayStore Dolphin Emulator and click "Device" drop-down to GameSir G8+, you'll see EVERY BUTTON q keyboard has AS WELL as all the buttons named as we call them. "Button A, R1, R3" NOT as almost every ither Emulator displays them, Button 96,97,102,103,107,108,109 Acis -15,+15 Axis -0,+0,-1,+1. It's It's weird. Why is this?
The Android mode is a legacy mode for way older Android games. Honestly, you should avoid using that mode ever, if at all. Rather, stick to PS mode, you’ll have an eternally superior experience.
Rush Rally Origins, a fun top-down racing game (also helicopter pursuit camera mode if preferred). It's I think 5 bucks on the App Store? Totally worth it!
I’m using the g8+ on ios18 and I can’t get any game to register rumble. Any tips? Also can you recommend a free game that you know supports rumble with this pair? I’m starting to think something’s wrong. I have the controller in iOS (white/beige) mode and testing/adjusting rumble in general works.
Hmmm that does sound abnormal, have you tried adjusting it with the shortcut on the controller while connected? You want to do M + Up D-pad a couple of times. Hopefulyl that fixes it. Cheers!
“…testing/adjusting rumble in general works.” Yes. I tried ‘Rush Rally Origins’ as well and rumble works thankfully but I still can’t get it to work with any other app that I’ve tried.
@@caesarbravo I know that rumble on iOS can be finicky, especially on some versions of iOS versus others. Sadly, I don't have any other idea as to why this wouldn't work. Sorry to say :(
Maybe you can help out, I purchased this controller after watching your video/review but I have some issues/concerns. Customer service takes forever to respond and say the same thing over and over again. My controller randomly just started acting up where the home button only blinks blue slowly (as if its trying to connect to a device, which doesn't even work correctly, you have to delete the device and re-add it for it to connect to your phone). Holding the pair button does nothing, holding the home button(powerbutton) to turn it off does nothing at all. On top of all of that, the LS click no longer works. LOL, a rarely used controller that was purchased about a month or so ago and this happens. Customer service tells you the same thing you can find on the manual (which is not very helpful either) as if your dumb and just don't know how to use it.
I would recommend to take it to Discord, I find that these companies seem to be more proactive to help in public channels. If there are not helping you, I would consider bringing that to your credit card issuer (as I assume it was bought using one) and consider doing a chargeback. These products are 1 year warranty, if they do not replace your controller, they shouldn't have the right to hold onto the amount you paid, at least that's what I think. Sorry I can't be of more help, good luck!
Yup, like @ranoirmawan said, I use them with BT earbuds all the time. No issues either, no audio delay or added latency. Bluetooth has come a long way, I used to HATE the tech back when I was working at RadioShack in early 2000s.
You have to be on the PS Mode for Remote Play to work on Android, otherwise Sony blocks non-recognized controllers. Hold the capture button while pushing the right most face button and the light around the GameSir logo will turn a vibrant blue, pair it with your phone and that ought to do it! Cheers :)
Technically, with the dongle, you’d be able to use with a converter, unfortunately, I do not own one so I can’t quite comment on how good that would work.
Does anyone know how to swap the button layout? Right now it's set to the Switch layout when using the dongle (even in XBOX mode) but I want A to be the bottom button and B to be the right button
I believe you hold the Capture button and down most face button for a few seconds and you'll feel a vibration, that means the layout has swapped. Repeat to change it again.
Sadly it is not. You'd either need an adapter to convert it for you, or another controller to host the signal which also would require some type of adapter between the two. All in all, it's best to assume that this is not feasible unfortunately.
hi game tech talk. i really need to know. i just bought myself a xiaomi pad 6s pro and it is a massive 12.4inch. can the mod "pop up" handle my screensize and its weight? thanks
At 12.4in, it is not as big as the iPad Pro 13 2024, and definitely not the Samsung Tab S8 Ultra. Two tablets that I have used without issue with this controller, I'd say go with confidence and if you 3D print, or you know someone that do, have them to a nice board to hide your coils if you want. I don't but I know some people dislike having the coils out. I strum them as I play (I'm crazy don't do like me).
Anybody know of a way to reduce input delay on this bad boy? Playing Mario & Luigi on my Galaxy S23 Ultra and the quarter second delay affects the specific battle timings
There are a very small portion of people that have reported what you have, while many do not do that at all, I included. Maybe GameSir changed their process for those "data-enabled" coils?
The ps/ios mode is not found on android with Bluetooth. It will only connect in yellow mode. Mode button plus A button. In this mode there is no real rumble just an odd thud every now and then.
The PS/iOS mode is capture plus the right face button (which can be A or B depending on layout). It shouldn’t be dependant on the operating system you’re on, it works for iOS, Android and PC.
Dear I am planning to buy the gamesir g8, however i am confused if i shud go for the " Plus wireless " or the " Normal version " My main game is PUBG mobile Have you ever tried playing pubg mobile using the controllers and which one wud u suggest please
PUBG will require screen mapping absolutely. I'd say go with what adapts the best to your lifestyle, if you jump from many devices, bluetooth will be more accessible and versatile. If you will stick exclusively to PUBG on your phone (and it's an Android), then G8 will possibly work better because it's lighter too.
@@GameTechTalk thank you for your genuine reply, Dear i bought the plus version finally but i am not able to do screen mapping, any idea or video u may suggest for doing the same, also on iphone on the gamesir app it states that "the key mapping feature currently does not support IOS 13 and above systems", does it mean that i will not be able to key map PUBG on iphone as i am using Iphone 12 which has ios 18
Also taking your advice i am thinking shud i go for the G8 c port one as i might be mainly playing games on android and since i have ordered the G8plus on amazon i may return it and order the G8 c port one lets see. Anyways thanks for your advice and u get a new subscriber. Also both have the same features just that the G8 plus is wireless right. Compatibility is same for bot right Iphone, Android, , Switch? Also the c port one has a audio jack
@@AQUGAMTEC The G8 does not have USB-C male data passthrough, no wireless, no magnetic buttons, no rumble, does not have gyro and does not have Nintendo Switch support. But, the G8 has charging passthrough, a 3.5mm jack. Screen mapping is not possible on iOS. It hasn’t been for many years, they completely removed that feature. Also, the G8 software doesn’t work very nice on iPhones due to Apple blocking MFi.
It doesn't no. Geforce Now on Android uses Nvidia's own proprietary API that they had developed back when Android have no native rumble API. Nvidia still haven't bothered updating their app, hence why rumble doesn't work on that app specifically. It only does if you have the Nvidia Shield controller (which I believe is now discontinued).
You plug the dongle, you hold the button until it flashes and is in pairing. On the G8+, you hold Capture + Left most face button to put the G8+ in dongle pairing mode, once it is green and slow flashing, hit the pairing button next to the USB-C to allow it to pair to the dongle. Cheers!
Yes, that is because apparently, Geforce Now on Android was never updated to support Google's vibration support API. Geforce Now on Android still utilizes Nvidia's legacy API that they had built at the time, and that is not compatible with controllers other than the also now deprecated Shield Controller.
@@ondrejko18 That is not a spoofed controller though. I don’t use GeForce now enough to be fair, try this, plug your G8Plus to your phone with a usbc-to-usbc and do capture home + left most face button to go into the hidden Xbox mode. If that vibrates on GeForce now, it means that spoofed can work but unfortunately that mode is wired/dongle only.
G8 Plus easy. It's vastly superior. Not to take away anything from the BSP D8 Pro but the difference in price is not just an inflation one, the quality difference is very much night and day.
Not per se, there is indeed a wire but it connects only when the controller is completely collapsed. And when it is and the controller is plugged, the second battery gets charged.
@@GameTechTalk interesting, so we can't keep those controller attached, we need to remove controller when charging. also the wired mode must be a bit higher latency since it's not fully wired.
I hate the gamesir app, is there any alternative apps? The app doesn’t seem to be letting me program the way I want it without deviating from their recommended configuration, even if I reset the config there are still traces of stray input when I press buttons, especially in free fire
You would need a custom 3D printed clip to hold onto the Win Mini and for the G8Plus to clamp on because the corners at the back of the Win Mini are too steep.
If the g8+ is set to ps/ios mode, and connected with bluetooth to android - does the rumble work then? On android games and game streaming services like geforce now and xbox game pass?
Rumble does work on PS/iOS Mode, in fact, that is the mode you should want to use whenever it's available for the full feature set. As for Geforce Now, it doesn't but the issue is not the controller as much as it is the software itself that doesn't support any rumble other than their proprietary rumble that they had on the Shield controller. As for Xbox Game Pass, I wouldn't be able to say for sure but there is an app called BetterXCloud and I can tell you 100% guarantee that rumble works there and it's much better than the native app. Cheers!
There was a portion that I addressed it but the problem with G-Touch is it's the thing of an entire video, not just a quite mention. It's extremely feature rich and I've been contemplating it, it's just finding the best examples to showcase how various modes work. But, I'm keeping it in the "video idea" list, it might happen in due time.
Hold Capture Mode (little circle to the left) and the left most face button (which will either be X or Y depending on layout) and the light around the GameSir logo should turn green. That means you are on the Xbox mode, keep in mind that mode is not compatible with bluetooth, only wired or with the dongle.
It won't connect to my phone in DS4 mode. Only in yellow LED. And in mapping mode cyan mode. And the overlay doesn't show up during game play. I'm useing galaxy s24 ultra.
Have you tried the Switch mode? As for mapping, you need to boot the game from the GameSir app for the button or come up, with that button you'll be able to configure your mapping. Do keep in mind that not every game allow for mapping.
@@mrbutchee1 I mean, at this point, I would consider contacting GameSir because the behavior you seem to be getting feels very unfamiliar to me. Or maybe try visiting the Discord to see if someone else had this issue, sadly I wouldn't know how to help beyond that. Good luck
Well, I figured it out, DS4 (blue) works in software mapping. G-touch (cyan) works in hardware mapping. And yellow is native. If it was in the directions I way over looked it.

The dongle as worked on iOS, Android and PC. It’s the mode that will (or will not work). For example, Switch mode will work on all three, but Xbox mode will not on iOS.
These videos are coming out at the perfect time, I've been looking into getting something to play cloud games on my phone. I've noticed you have both so I figure I'll ask: do you think the new X2S bluetooth is much more pocketable than the G8+? I've really wanted to get something feature-filled that can fit in a medium to large pocket but I'm not sure if the tradeoffs are worth it, or if the X2S is much more pocketable than the G8 in person.
It is definitely and undoubtedly more pocketable. But the G8+ is also vastly superior on features, quality and overall feel. So it’ll come down to what you wish to sacrifice. Pocketability or overall quality?
Thanks for providing examples, still very much a work-in-progress but I'll get it right in due time. As a non-native english speaker, I take pride in improving, one syllable at a time if I must. Cheers!
I just got mine and now I have to reset it PlayStation mode works but no other mode wants to move the cursor around on this screen and Android 13 isn't helping with its keyboard thing that it keeps popping up, I guess I'll have to reset it to factory mode and try again because Android mode worked right out of the box and then somehow just stopped responding, I think I enabled g mode or whatever and then open the app and then stopped Android mode completely, but also I would really like to get the mouse working, it shows up in PlayStation mode but then doesn't move around I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong I guess a factory reset after I've bound all my buttons will help, wish me luck has anyone else tried the mouse? I love the controller so far I just wished I didn't disable Android mode somehow😅😊
The Android Mode is capture + down most face button, and truthfully, the Android mode is pretty much a deprecated protocol that is there for legacy purposes for compatibility. You'd be better off using the Playstation mode, you'll find a much better experience and compatibility. As for a mouse mode, that would be a feature specific to the device you are connecting to, not the controller itself. I've seen some Android devices have this feature and when I did, holding Select+Start for a few seconds would activate/deactivate that mode, you may want to try it, it might just work if in luck! Cheers :)
@GameTechTalk not sure what happens when I do that the LED turns off and then when I release it it stays in the same mode I'm staying on PlayStation mode as you suggested it seems to be the most compatible with everything I just wished I could get rumble working in my emulators but that seems to be out of reach.. and as for mouse mode I guess that's peripheral or something that if I added a keyboard to this device it would show a mouse also.. so you're correct I didn't think of that until now this video is super helpful and your advice..thanks
@@cyberman60k The controller won't simulate rumble, the game you play has to support that feature. In many emulators, you have to map the rumble motor to the core (system) you're trying to play, that might help make it worked if it hasn't thus far. Always happy to help, thanks for the kind words!
well the controller spontaneously gave me back the Android mode (The yellowish color) and now I can cycle through all of the modes and they all work but I don't see that you can add any game separately and I still have another app that will allow you to add any game you want to the touch library unfortunately I don't see any option to add a custom game such as one that isn't natively supported or one that isn't detective, they should really update that and the fact that Android mode spontaneously disappeared and came back should be fixed 😆😅
@@cyberman60k If you boot a game from the GameSir app, it'll auto switch your modes based on the title and if you set it to mapping to hardware. To avoid that, I'd launch games from your device's launcher instead. There is definitely an option to add games, it might have to do with resolution of your phone. Due to Android's wide selection of supported devices, apps don't always account for every option and sometimes, app get cropped out and important functions are "past view". That might not be it but if not, I can't quite understand why you're not seeing that option.
The latter is the right way right? Just to be sure cause that's what I've been working on improving lately but just want to make sure I get this right as I'm actively trying to improve this!
Android HID won't work nicely with rumble. Android HID is mostly a legacy deprecated mode and one that comes from an era that Android didn't have official rumble support, so if you use the controller in Android HID, expect no rumble, simple as that.
Bah no worries my guy, I consider myself smart too but if someone was to tell me about the parts of a car, I'd probably have a throbbing headache, that don't make me less smart. The controller world is becoming quite complex, and truthfully, I don't know all of it either, there are far better educated people on the matter but I'm learning as I go. Hopefully, you'll tag along and learn with me. If you have specific questions, don't hesitate. Cheers!
Too heavy, especially with Switch. The right stick is awkwardly placed. The grips need to be narrower to allow secure and comfortable holding of it with ring and and pinky fingers.
Sorry but upon feeling the responsiveness of a USB C's direct connection, Bluetooth controllers for mobile just aren't for me anymore, unless they create a wired plus version, this is a pass for me.
I think this controller completely shatters (positively) any expectations one should have of Bluetooth controllers on mobile but I totally respect your stance.
I bought this thing because of your videos. This is easily the best controller for mobile I've ever used
So happy to have been of assistance! Cheers
This controller is one of the few instances that a small screen for onboard control wouldnt be a gimmick because it is packed with features. So many things to remember
I'd totally be here for that!
Iv bought 3 gamesir controllers, 1 for me (G8) and the other 2 (G8+) as gifts. Truly the most reliable 3rd party controller i have ever bought.
Yup, they are quality stuff! We are so blessed to be living in this era of controller goodness! 😊
Well thank you for this very informative and helpful review!

Wow, thanks! :)
I tried my Xbox Series anniversary controller via USB-C to USB-C into my iPhone 16 Pro, and it worked no problem. The thing didn't even have batteries in it, let alone be paired over Bluetooth, so XBX working on iOS, at least now, is definitely a thing.
Yup, it was introduced in iOS 18, that's a very recent addition.
Great vid, I received this as a gift and I love it, I use it for switch.
It is an extremely versatile controller solution, definitely great to use on the Switch as you mentioned!
Thank you for linking this video. Leaving the comment to thank you and for the almighty algorithm. Cheers!

Thank you so much for the side note about how the “GameSir g8+” connection can be connected to the wrong device. It was paired to my android and I was so annoyed because I couldn’t get the app to work on my iPhone lol
Glad I was able to help!
Mine is arriving today. Excited to try it!
Hope you enjoy it!
@@Cooler110033 i havent found myself using their app. I hope your enjoying it the controller.

Not attacking lol. It's just use the O sound you would use in the word Options. You are using the U sound like you would hear in Rumble.

@Game Tech Talk
Also, FYI ,When in BlueTooth Settings, if paired, when you press and hold the "Pair" Button next to the Charging USB C port underneath the controller, it will show a NEW Gamesir G8+.
Excellent video man, Thank you
With pleasure! :)
I got the original non-moded I use on my s24 ultra as well as a modded one from rrtronics which I play with my tab s9+
So much more comfy with the s9+ bigger screen; although can feel heavy with the gamepad but its just too good you won't mind it.
Cheers!
What is the top down racing game shown at 5:29? Think you just sold me the upgrade im looking for over my ipega I use with my M2 Ipad Pro

only just got it.
the rubber bits that make contact with the phone...
the clamp force is heaps, but
kind of wish they had an option for a bigger/taller rubber peices to install that hold the device in better.
other wise it pops out quite easily to me (silicon case) and then the spring recoil follows as the control shuts back 🥶.
When you say that you're connecting to the regular Bluetooth mode at 11:37, what mode is that? DS4? Which key combination did you use there? Thanks.
I say "regular" cause I move from the dongle mode but the mode specifically that I went on at that moment (and is also the most versatile for iOS/Android) is "Capture button + right most face button" which is going to be your iOS/PS/DS4 mode.
Does the dungle support gyro?
It does yes, as long as you are on a mod that it is available.
Yeah mainly looking for something that I will use 99% for mobile gaming 😊
Thank you so much for your reply!
The depth of the camera module is 1.4cm? That is huge, I feel like that can't be right. Are we talking about diameter?
I got my G8+ last week and I love it but still am getting my head round the Games if mode for remapping touch screen controls. A tutorial on that would be great.
I’ll consider it, I was supposed to do one for the original G8 but it fell between two cracks. Their mapping software is very feature rich too.
Yes you're right! iOS 18 allows wired xbox controllers now.

Been looking for something like this for my fold and s24 ultra using Geforce now sheesh
Let's gooooo! 😎
There are some great rubber tape grips available for the g8 that really help when on tablets
where can we find them?

I have a question sir. since I use g8+ there's a stutter in moonlight, I don't know how to fix it. maybe could you make a video about that?
Cheers

No no no, it's not "only portrait", I show portrait for people that prefer not to mod it. You can still very much use it in landscape, you just have to do this little (literally half a second) mod and you're set. See it more in detail here: ruclips.net/video/OeapSjwUptQ/видео.html

I dont understand how to activate hairtrigger.

Remote Play on Android requires a Sony licensed (or spoofed) mode to work. Therefore, as long as you are on PS mode (capture + right face button), it’ll work just fine. Cheers!
What about charging phone while playing ? Is it available ?
You'd have to use a 90 degree USB-C adapter to keep charging while having your controller strapped around your phone.
@charlsey26 try using L shape usb C connector/adapter on your phone and then put the phone to Gamepad , and last step is install your Flashdisk/card reader/ssd portable, sorry if my english is very bad, you can see this link video for example, its using that trick for charging whlie you can use it for FD/memory (only work on bluetooth gamepad)

Hey ! Did you try to connect to a windows device as a Playstation Controller mode, without dongle ? Any way to get rid of dongle on windows ?
Yeah, you can connect as a PS controller no issues, as long as you have bluetooth on your computer. The dongle actually works for 2.4Ghz mode and it is X-Input by default but once you are in that mode, you can use select+start for a few seconds to cycle modes!
How do you get over the latency? Played Bo6 on cloud and it was unbearable on galaxy z fold 6
Depending on what type of cloud experience you had, I'd say the blame is not on the controller, or at least not entirely. It does potentially add up though so part may come from the controller, part from the stream too.
For some reason i dont have that gyro calibration tab when im using Moonlight from my iPhone. PC sees my controller as xbox controller.
That would be so cool!
Wish the g8 had rumble but I dont want to lose the pass through charging of my x2s so I got the g8 usb c!
I'm hoping we get a future version with more feature parity with the better options out there. If GameSir's releases have a patterns, we'd be getting one in 3-4 months, give or take. Fingers crossed! But meanwhile, the clsoest to what you want is the Abxylute S9, they started shipping even!
You can also change the LED color via the iPhone settings.
Oh that's awesome! I did not know that, thanks!

@@TaiwanTeddy I figured it out, thanks Any idea on how to get rumble working? It works when I test the controller but I’ve only been able to find one app ‘Rush Rally Origins’ (the one in this video) that supports it, I haven’t had rumble register anywhere else.
@@caesarbravosorry, I haven’t tested the rumble much. It works on the Switch though.
How do I play when my device needs charging?
You have to purchase a 90 degree USB-C adapter to run your wire to the side while using the controller. They are very inexpensive, something like this: amzn.to/3ZkDabr
4:22 I will now pronounce it this way from here on out. This is the correct way.
🫡 I myself am still working towards hearing it properly. #goals 😅
I'm hesitant on buying a G8+ cause I wanna play games while using my bluetooth earbud. Is there any other way to use bluetooth on both earbud and the G8+? Or is there any other better controllers for this feature?
Using the G8+ should not stop you from using earbuds as they are different protocols, I do it all the time
@game tech talk Can you explain why the Yellow LED (android) with android 13, sends a notification once connected to "Configure your physical keyboard"?
What game is in 5:48?
Rush Rally Origins, a fun top-down racing game (also helicopter pursuit camera mode if preferred). It's I think 5 bucks on the App Store? Totally worth it!
@@GameTechTalk will check it out! thanks!
Does moonlight passthrough rumble?
It does, it is more dependant on the mode on the controller, the software will work no problem.
Does this work with the Onexplayer X1?
Yes it does but I find it to be too daring, I wouldn't want to lay on my back and have an X1 fall on my face, so if you do try it, please be careful.
Cheers!
“…testing/adjusting rumble in general works.”
Yes.
Sorry to say :(
@@GameTechTalkthanks for your response mate ✊
@@GameTechTalk appreciate it! Thanks for the help
What is the name of the Racing game on the rumble section?
Rush Rally Origins, it's a pretty fun game!
@@GameTechTalk thank you sir!
Can you use this controller together with wireless earphones?
@@The_Young_Swag yes you can, i use this controller together with my buds live in my samsung s22 ultra
Yup, like @ranoirmawan said, I use them with BT earbuds all the time. No issues either, no audio delay or added latency. Bluetooth has come a long way, I used to HATE the tech back when I was working at RadioShack in early 2000s.
no input lag?
Not to a point that it is measurable by feel. Bluetooth 5.3 is pretty capable when properly implemented!
How to use it for remote play? When open remote play app and on Playstation menu, the g8+ didn't work.
You have to be on the PS Mode for Remote Play to work on Android, otherwise Sony blocks non-recognized controllers. Hold the capture button while pushing the right most face button and the light around the GameSir logo will turn a vibrant blue, pair it with your phone and that ought to do it! Cheers :)
So rumble don't work on android mode?
I can't say I tested across all devices and all operating systems but from souvenir, no. The rumble was not functional on that mode.
Can you use the G8+ to connect to xbox series x/s? Either wired or via a dongle/converter?
Technically, with the dongle, you’d be able to use with a converter, unfortunately, I do not own one so I can’t quite comment on how good that would work.
Does anyone know how to swap the button layout? Right now it's set to the Switch layout when using the dongle (even in XBOX mode) but I want A to be the bottom button and B to be the right button
I believe you hold the Capture button and down most face button for a few seconds and you'll feel a vibration, that means the layout has swapped. Repeat to change it again.
Is it possible to use g8plus on a ps4 without using remote play😢
I would definitely try a different mode, your most reliable one will be the PS Mode, hit capture button plus right most face button.
I extended my G8 plus and it doesn't snap back to normal. I cant find help anywhere do you have any troubleshooting videos
Dear I am planning to buy the gamesir g8, however i am confused if i shud go for the " Plus wireless " or the " Normal version "
My main game is PUBG mobile
Have you ever tried playing pubg mobile using the controllers and which one wud u suggest please
Does the rumble not work when your using your phone playing on gforce? It don't work for me
It doesn't no.
How connect to pc with this dongle ?
You plug the dongle, you hold the button until it flashes and is in pairing. On the G8+, you hold Capture + Left most face button to put the G8+ in dongle pairing mode, once it is green and slow flashing, hit the pairing button next to the USB-C to allow it to pair to the dongle.
Cheers!
@GameTechTalk thank you for your helping 😍😍
hi do you know why vibration doesn't work when connected to android phone using geforce now and the vibration doesn't work
Yes, that is because apparently, Geforce Now on Android was never updated to support Google's vibration support API. Geforce Now on Android still utilizes Nvidia's legacy API that they had built at the time, and that is not compatible with controllers other than the also now deprecated Shield Controller.
@@GameTechTalk thanks for answer but when i use xbox controller vibration works normaly
@@GameTechTalk ok thank you
gamesir g8 plus vs BSP D8 Pro ?
G8 Plus easy. It's vastly superior. Not to take away anything from the BSP D8 Pro but the difference in price is not just an inflation one, the quality difference is very much night and day.
so left and right is not connected by wire?
Not per se, there is indeed a wire but it connects only when the controller is completely collapsed. And when it is and the controller is plugged, the second battery gets charged.
@@GameTechTalk interesting, so we can't keep those controller attached, we need to remove controller when charging.
also the wired mode must be a bit higher latency since it's not fully wired.
@@doniherald7745 You can still charge while opened but it will only charge one of the two batteries it has.
I hate the gamesir app, is there any alternative apps? The app doesn’t seem to be letting me program the way I want it without deviating from their recommended configuration, even if I reset the config there are still traces of stray input when I press buttons, especially in free fire
As far as I know, there are no other apps to control this device.
Would this work with the GPD Win Mini?
You would need a custom 3D printed clip to hold onto the Win Mini and for the G8Plus to clamp on because the corners at the back of the Win Mini are too steep.
@@GameTechTalk I'm sorry I know I asked this question before I was just hoping since this was a new controller something might have changed
Cheers!
@@GameTechTalk thanks so much for getting back to me!
Wish you would've explained how to map the buttons in the G-touch mode, but you didn't even mention G-touch, let alone explain how to use it.
I am stuck on ps mode... Can't get through the Xbox mode
@GameTechTalk it won't connect to my phone in switch mode. And if I get it to work work with CODM. The game acts all glitchy.
@@mrbutchee1 I mean, at this point, I would consider contacting GameSir because the behavior you seem to be getting feels very unfamiliar to me. Or maybe try visiting the Discord to see if someone else had this issue, sadly I wouldn't know how to help beyond that. Good luck

Can I play GTA 5 on it? And if so, how can I do it?
I mean yes, but that would depend more on the device itself. Are we talking on a PC? And handheld PC? A Steam Deck? A living room console?
I completely forgot about that redmagic controller
I never owned that one, might pick it up one day, we’ll see.

What is with Rumbling in android mode?
You talked about ios, xbox, switch but what is with android? haha
Android HID won't work nicely with rumble. Android HID is mostly a legacy deprecated mode and one that comes from an era that Android didn't have official rumble support, so if you use the controller in Android HID, expect no rumble, simple as that.
Im a smart guy but ngl, I did not understand anything in the first 10 mins with the modes, dungles, d input vs x input, beige Ps vs white etc.
The good news is you got to try it and identify it wasn’t for you. You might like the EasySMX M15. It’s much lighter!
